Hello, I enjoy all types of firearms for a range of purposes. I do believe in gun control because with out it you can not hit what you are aiming at.

Greetings!

I just signed up for membership here, at the request of some firearm-owning friends/registered users. And last Friday I picked up my first gun, a SW 642. I'm looking forward to participating in this community!

Ciao for now.

Hey there! Just joined today! I'm extremely new to firearms considering i only recently have become of legal age to purchase rifles. I'm interested mostly in tactical rifles, and Military Rifles from WWII to tomorrow's new platform. I own a Stag AR15, Yugo K98 Mauser, Auto-Ord M1 Carbine, Ruger 10/22, and 5.56 Saiga Sporter Rifle.

New Member in Central Florida.

I'm John Craig, Sr, live in Central Florida, retired, and an NRA member. My wife & I both have Florida CCW permits. I carry a Glock 26. Enjoy shooting, travel and both sail and power boating. From the THR site I'm learning lots and from time to time I hope to be able to add some worthwhile items.

Hi to all

Hello from Las Vegas.

Although I am a member of a couple other firearms forums, I am new to this one. I consider myself an average shooter, so I usually lurk more than participate.

The other forums are brand specific, so I am hoping to get a broader base of knowledge from this one.

Florida Oldie

Hi ya'll,

Moved to Florida from Massachusetts 3 years ago. First thing I did was to get myself a Springfield Arms 9mm XD, and my conceal carry license.

Massachusetts :cuss: is SO restrictive. Before that I lived in Vermont 1967. At that time I had a S&W Model 39, 9mm. Was my favorite handgun. Had a Ruger .357 Single action, Winchester 94 30-30, and others. Had to sell them to move to Mass. for a better job.

Now that I'm in Florida, I can get shootin' again.;)

Thanks for the great site!

New Member Here Too

Mornin' All,

New to THR but not new to firearms. I really enjoy building rifles, hunting and the outdoors. Regarding our "Right to Bear and Keep Arms", it is also our duty. Best Regards all.

Greetings

As a new member to the site I just wanted to drop in and say "hi" to all. I'm finally getting back into shooting after a few years layoff and am looking forward to smelling the burning powder once again. Now I'm glad I didn't get rid of my pistols (Beretta 92F pre ban, Sig P230, Kelt-Tec P3AT, Interdynamics Tek-9).
Looks like a pretty good site with lots of good information and exchange of idea's. I;m looking forward to hanging around and putting in my two cents worth at times!:)

New here, just bought first handgun

Hello all. I've been here in Texas for about 3 years now, a little less, and I just bought my first handgun. Not that anything changed my mind about handguns, been on my to do list for a while already, it's just it got bumped up in priority all of a sudden. Just moved to dallas (Richardson actually) from McAllen TX and the first day I was here someone got beat up by some gang banger types, arm broken in the hospital. This was apparently the first time in 12 years anything like that happened on this property... nonetheless. So... having an excuse to bump up my handgun purchasing priority, I let the people at the local gun shop twist my arm a little and I bought a Bersa 380 concealed carry model. It seems nice... haven't got to the range with it yet. The reason for the choice was that although I'm a grad student and won't always be able to carry anyhow, I did take a CHL course, and I will get my CHL soon I expect. Other gun stuff I'm interested in... hmmm I always wanted to play with some full auto stuff at a range some time... next time I'm in Vegas I guess. I used to hunt when I was younger, and I would really like to get into it again. I am going to get a nice little levergun to use for hog hunting. I'm not entirely sure which yet either a marlin 336, or maybe the marlin 45-70 (I know... overkill... but they're cool), or perhaps something in 357 or 44 mag. Input on this matter is welcome. Well... that's my story for now.

Hello from Texas!

I'm from Texas and just got my CCL about 3 months ago. What can I say, I basically caught the BUG! And I don't mean "Backup...". I mean...I LOVE GUNS!!. Not just for SD but as a hobby as well. I also caught the BUG for nice holsters. And I tell ya, there are some nice holsters out there! In the last 6 months I now have about 35 hosters for my 7 pistols! The guns to holster numbers doesn't seem right but oh well got to have the right holster for the right occassion, weather and clothing right?. My 7 pistols includes: Glock 26, Sig 232 (x2), Para Carry9, Walther PPK/S, Walther P99 and finally, got to have a snubby - S&W 442.

Anyway, I'm glad and excited to be part of this family of reponsible people. I have been reading for quite some time now and love the diversity of members here who respectfully share their opinions.

Looking forward to meeting you all! Take care!

New member here, probably will change my name if possible. I signed up to get info because i'm a first time buyer at this point doing research before i take the plunge into gun ownership, so far so good it has been helpful.

Background: I used to be in the navy for 6 years now doing the civialian thing. Don't own any guns yet but have shot a couple rifles when my grandpa when i was a kid and was qualified in 9mm when i was in the navy, only shot it once though.

Right now my plan for my first gun is a GP-100.

My name is Justin Im 27 a first time buyer trying to gather as much info and knowledge before plunging into gun ownership. I was in the Navy for 6 years. Not much experience with guns aside from shooting rifles with my grandpa a couple times and getting 9mm qualified in the navy to stand watches. I only shot it on one occasion. For my first gun I want a Ruger GP-100

Hi! I live in Texas and have been collecting guns a number of years. I kind of saw the light, when Bush 41 began banning firearms WAY back in 1989. I pretty much have gotten nearly everything I wanted since then (Still a Browning BAR, a G-43, and a 50 BMG rifle would be nice,). I feel for some of you too young or living in gun slave states, that will have little chance of getting the kinds of firearms that have already been banned or severly restricted on some level. I was on another site almost exclusively, but i got bored with constant talk of lever actions and 22's without much variety. I generally am interested in surplus battle rifles and the replicas. My screen name is an obvious take off on the ROMAK III, but I enjoy ALL of my firearms. I recommend a ROMAK III as the ultimate SHTF/EOTWAWKI rifle since currently, you can get a rifle and decent amount of ammunition for cheap. I did, and have disaster stocks already bought. So I will probably post more on surplus and tactical topics, and probably avoid the ones about lever actions. I don't hate them, they're just boring...

Justin,

If that GP melts your butter,
then I say "go for it!"

Just be aware that there's ...
um, more than 2 of us here
that will try to nudge you
in the direction of a 686.

Another Newbie-

I seem to be a "castoff" from the non-responsive "Packing" site that I was accustomed to - and now have a new home. Looks like a really comprehensive and well moderated site; just what I was looking for. Mostly interested in self defense and Second Amendment Rights, and the safety of our country. Resident of the "Land Of Enchantment".

New to this site

I first learned to shoot when I was 9 at a YMCA camp just out side Louisville, KY in 1952. I bought my first gun, a Winchester 67, 4 years later. We were living on my grandfather's farm near Poland, NY. I hunted a lot with that 22. Still have it. I had several other rifles while in NY, an Enfield, an 8mm M98 and a Quackenbush. How many of you have heard of a Quackenbush much less shot one? I ran an 8 mile trap line while in highschool.

Started reloading in 1964 for a 38 Spec. Colt Official Police with a Lee loader but quickly graduated to a RCBS Rock Chucker which I still use. I had an FFL for about 6 years while working for Halliburton Co., Dick Chaney's old company. I would buy for my coworkers at cost plus 5% so they got guns at almost wholesale and I had a lot of fun but didn't make much money.

I belonged to the Fort Worth rifle and pistol club for a number of years before it closed. I shot high power silhouette using a Ruger bull barreled M77s in 25/06 and .280 Rem. The rifle I currently use is a Savage 110 that is set up for barrel switch. I have a 30/06, 25/06 and 22/250 barrels for it. I put it in a barrel vise, break the barrel nut loose, unscrew the barrel and replace it with a different barrel, using a headspace gage of course, and in 20 minutes have a different rifle.

I shoot a scoped BH 357, GP100, S&W686, Ruger Mark I and as of yesterday a SP101 for my pocket.

We have 15 acres of woods and live in the middle of it. We have lots of critters in the front yard, deer, raccoons, turkey, squirrels and rabbits. Once in a while a bobcat or coyote. The deer are about 20 yards from our front door.

I will be married 40 on 1 Sept this year. Have one son and a grandson who will get the Winchester 67 when he is old enough. My son got the DCM Garand I had.

I have had 21 motorcycles and currently ride a restored Yamaha 650 Maxim. I don?t like the current crotch rockets. I have a private pilot?s certificate with an instrument rating. I have a little over 300 hrs as pilot in command.

Hope this is enough Bio.

Let me introduce myself.

I am fairly new to handguns, I have shot them sparingly in the past, and only once in the Military.
I grew up around rifles, and shotguns for hunting and recreational shooting.
The handguns came into play only since feb 07, I purchased it for protection of myself, and my home. After taking a basic pistol course, and the CCW course, I was hooked, I enjoy shooting for recreation and soon I will be entering in competions.

My first Handgun is the G 36 subcompact 45acp, shortly after that I went out bought a G23, a compact 40 S&W...This covered my Concealed carry weapons, Then I bought a HK USP 45 (full size), Followed up with a Glock G35, more for competition.
Now I am saving up for another HK, I am not sure the model yet, I was eyeing the Match...So we will see.

Personal stuff, I work in trauma for a living, served in the Army for 10 years as a Medic.

Anyway This is a great place here, I have spent many hours reading, and learning form many people here.
