HI ALL,
i'm from phoenix,az(aka - norte mex'ico)been shooting and hunting for over 35yrs and have a diverse collection of long guns and handguns, i plan on getting into hand loading this year with 16 weapons i think its about time, this is my first time on any internet forum mainly because my typing skills suck; it took me almost five minuets to type/delete/retype just this much.....oh my daughter just told me it's called "keyboarding" when you're using a computer, not "typing" .....geez! what ever it's called i suck at it. i'll probably spend most of my time learning from you more experienced folks

Oh, to mr_blove, Welcome on board. There are some of the brightest, most articulate, well informed folks you will ever run into on this board. Then there are the other 99.99% like me: ignorant, stubborn, quick to say the wrong thing, but willing to let reason and logic change my errant ways. Hey yall. Im from a little town in the southwest corner of Vigo county Indiana. I have several guns but only two "lethal firarms" if you will. I just recently purchased a NEF .223 and have a H&R 20ga shotgun that was given to me for my 14th birthday. Among the rest of my collection is a Daisy powerline 901 and a 15XT and a Brass Eagle paintball gun.

Im interested in learning about reloading cartridges for my .223 and would like to expand my gun collection as my budget allows. Im looking for muzzleloader but unsure about specifics...

Howdy from Las Vegas (the hottest shooting place on earth ... literally)!

Just found this board yesterday. Used to yak on the AOL gun boards years ago before they got so politically correct you couldn't talk about anything gun related. I'm a 24-year recently retired Air Force Vet, been shooting most of my life. I enjoy the metal aspect of shooting and reloading. I specialize in crazy (and often useless) experiments and tests I dream up. I love collecting old (and new) ammo, taking it apart, measuring and weighing everything, looking at it with microscopes, magnifiers, various light, all while researching it's history.
SOME EXAMPLES OF MY CRAZY TESTING:

- Battle of the Denmark Straight: A 6-month long test recreating the Battle of the Denmark Straight in WWII (where the Bismarck sunk the Hood). This included full scale illustrations of every ship involved the 4-day event, correctly scaled to the 100-yard range. A wobbling rifle rest was used to ensure the rile was unstable in the North Atlantic. Cellophane was used over the front scope objective to simulate fog in various intensities, with a spray bottle adding water droplets. The scope was adjusted for magnification to control the ranges to target between shots (salvos). All the ranges are well documented in history. After each engagement, which usually took all day, I compared my hit ratio (of volley fire) to the actual historic battle. Of course this had no real scientific value at all, but the guys at the range got a real kick out of it. After return home after each test, I would analyze the scale drawings of the ships, looking at history books, to try and determine the damage that would have been cause in the impact areas. I even set up anti-aircraft fire to shoot at the
Swordfish Torpedo bombers that successfully hit the Bismarck’s rudder. In my test, they didn't stop the Bismarck, and she sunk most of the British fleet! This was because I kept missing vital areas on Bismarck such as the gun turrets, the Admirals Bridge, with too many shots hitting the thick amour belt.

- BRITISH CORDITE BURN TESTING: Pulled bullets from early WWII .303 Ammo loaded with Cordite "spaghetti" powder. Test was to determine if burn rate could be altered by changing the configuration of the Cordite itself. I cut the cordite (which is quite long) into shorter and shorter lengths and sorted them by size. I also took some and ground it to a puffy powder in an electric coffee grinder. I then lit identical small piles of the power on fire to observe the burn rate. As I was hoping, the short cuts burned with more energy (due to their increase outside burning surface). The ground powder ignited with clearly more energy. I won't get into the rest of the test (but yes I did do what you probably think I did ... and it worked).

PS: For all my experiments I wear extra protective gear, cover the action of the firearm just in case, and ensure nobody else is around. I keep the pressures low, use filler if the charge is too low to be stable, and always try to think of all the variables before hand. Safety First!

I guess since I am here that it is obvious that I am a new member. I was Googling the Net the other day for a Marlin 39A and this site came up. When I logged in I couldn't leave for a couple of hours. Wish I had found it sooner!

I have been a gun enthusiast since I shot my first .22 at about 5 yo. (~55 yrs). I own more than 1 and less than 1000 firearms of all makes, models, calibers, and vintages (no assault). I have been doing gunsmithing and reloading over 35 yrs. Like all gun enthusiasts I like to talk guns, shooting, and reloading. I look forward to lending my experience and yes, opinions:rolleyes:, to the disscusions here at THR.

Have been lurking for months. I own a G17 and Yugo SKS 59/66. I like the reliabilty and parts/ammo availability of Military designed weapons.

im a 21 from texas currently serving out my last year in the marine corps in california and have been deployed twice as a rifle man and then as a designated marksman. I am also a MOUNT instructor which school i attended before deploying for the first time and basically meant i came back to my unit with the others who attended and where expected to teach what we called "hip pocket" classes at every opportunity and run some field excerises luckily some guys from oif 1 where there to lend a hand. Im pretty much interested in all things firearms but of course i lean to towards the tactical
 
Hi - from Missouri the Show me Guy

I bought a - kel tec p3at and I carry it in my pocket without a holster. I wear pants that have a "watch pocket" built in the pocket. My P3 fits it perfect! Covers the trigger well. I can always keep my pistol aimed down toward the ground always. I can draw the pistol easily, and I feel safe carrying it. I carry extra clips in the opposite pants pocket. I NEVER carry anything else in either of those pockets. What do you guys think about my method?

hey, my name is liz, from c-ville va. i started shooting when i was 8 and by the time i was a tween my daddy would go to gunshows and brag about his baby girl shooting combat handguns better then most grown men! extremly embarressing! as a teen i was involved in the 4-h/nra shooting program (3 position .22). our most resent additions to the collection are the newest FNs, the five seven pistol and the p90.

nice to meet everyone my passion in guns is the 380 acp, just loe that little round ,compact and weightless,lov the 45 acp also.i owend a grendell p12 for 8 yrs anshot about oh 500 rounds through it ammo it love fiochi ,geco[ german made] winchester 50 round ball 90 grn. breakfree workes wonders ,esspesially when the guns been siting for a period of time ,just spray and shoot,,nice as a duty gun no problem was knoked down by a big dog he went some distance i got up turned and he was comming after me ,one shot the head approx 7 ydr away h went down ,,i kissed my grendel for saving my life.also took achicken down at 25ft ,with a hydra shok, abouve all im pleased with my grendel .:):):)

Im new to this site but I like it alot.Im also new to shooting,Started shooting pistals about 3 years ago.Well Im having problem standing standing so I got a Rifle so I can sit and shoot.I got myself a CZ 452 Amercan .22Lr put a good scope on it :what: It is so much fun to shoot I can not even tell you.
I do most of my shooting Top Gun shooting range.Then it warmer out Im going to go to a outdoor range to see just how well I can shoot.The closes outdoor range is over a 1 Hr drive :mad:

Howdy from the gulf coast of Texas

I've been lurking around here periodically and have really enjoyed the depth of knowledge and some pretty good conversations.

Just a little about me, I'm a NRA memeber/supporter, 5th generaton Texan and I grew up in the country South of Houston. Passions as a kid(and adult) were 4-H/FFA all things agriculture, hunting & fishing and rodeo. We hunt deer/doves at our place in Kinney County and 95% of fishing around and out of Freeport, TX.

As far as weapons go, all of my guns are used in some hunting endevour every year, although I'm working on adding a few more back-up guns and ramping up my wife's guns. Currently 2 bolt action and 1 lever action rifle, 2 semi-auto and 1 pump shotguns and 3 semi-auto pistols.

Next additions will be a used field grade .20 ga O/U for my wife (and me) and a compact .243 bolt action for her as well.

I'm a med student in Colorado.

My current interest is in Bullseye Pistol. I shoot in a Monday night league at the local club. It's my first exposure to competetive shooting, and the league is a really inexpensive way to get range time. It's a lot of fun, even though I shoot pretty poorly.

I shoot a High Standard 107 Trophy .22 that was my Dad's. I'm thinking of getting a Daisy 747 to practice in the basement (even cheaper range time). My dad has an old GI .45 that he bought as surplus back in the day, and once I can afford center-fire ammo, I might have to take that off his hands. It looks like some Marine carried it on his hip for 20 years, but it shoots straight and has a good trigger.

There's a pile of long guns in the closet too that I never get to shoot. There's a 1960s Winchester '94 .30-30, a 1930s Stevens .22 that was my grandfather's, and a 1960s Marlin 39A .22 that I watch for my mother-in-law.

I guess that makes me a bit of an antique collector, but it's just because most of my guns are hand-me-downs.

I don't do any hunting anymore, I'm too lazy and my Nikon is a lot lighter.

Not much interest in SD/Concealed Carry, although busting out the High Standard in a dark alley might be good for a laugh, "Now, you stand over there at about 25ft and hold this little piece of paper. Perfect, now stand still."
