Old time target shooter

Hi, I'm new to this site although I've been reading the mail for a while. Very interesting information. I'm a retired printer and living in southern Wisconsin. I was on the state civilian service rifle team at Camp Perry twice. We were using the M1 Garand, one of my favorites (A club rifle...Teddy Kennedy took it away from me :cuss:). Also competed in the bolt division. My only claim to fame was winning my early morning relay in the Leach Cup (1000 yds., iron sights, no wind, no hardholders). Got creamed in the shootoff. I still have the bolt rifle based on a 1903 Springfield action. I have a 45/70 Marlin, a Model 120 Win. 12, a Remington 1100 12 (I've taken up trap shooting), an H&R .44 magnum rifle, .410 bolt, .22 Rem. single-shot, and my Dad's old Stevens 44/40 single-shot shotgun.

Hello everyone.

New guy here. From Miami, FL, U.S.A.

I'm really into semi-automatic handguns, shotguns and rifles.

Howdy!

Hi, I thought I'd introduce myself here...

I reside in Houston, and I'm an avid bowhunter. I'm experienced with shotguns and rifles, but I recently picked up my first automatic pistol, a Berretta Px4 Storm, 9mm. I went to a gun range for the first time a couple of weeks ago, and it's a hobby I think I'll stick with!:D

Houston is a rough town, and I decided to get a CCW in order to protect myself against carjackers.

I've been looking for a good hog ranch nearby, and in the near future I might pick up a bigger caliber for this reason. (Those of you who have chucked an arrow at a hog or two may understand!)

Thanks for having me!

Hey, my name's Danalli, I live in Alaska.

I've been into guns since I was little and my dad would take me out to the shooting range and let me shoot his .22 and 270.

I am now getting a more avid interest in guns, thanks to my fiancee`.

I only have 2 guns. A .22 and a 270 both given to me by my dad. But I'll soon have a AR-15, another .22 and a Mosin Nagant. Only on loan while my finacee` is in Army BCT training, of course.

Hello Everybody on THR

I'm Jack. I've read and looked for info here for a while, but joined recently when my father purchased a new auto-loading shotgun and was looking for info about it. I'm in Florida, mostly in North Florida, near the Suwannee River.

I've been involved in shooting sports since I was a kid and Dad and Mom both had/have guns.

I enjoy a variety of types of guns, but among my favorite are the family heirlooms, such as my Grandfathers .22 revolver and 12 gauge.

I look forward to many more interesting topics to read and ponder on.

Life on the Suwannee is good.

Greetings all!
I've just gotten back into shooting after a long absence (busy making a living and other pursuits). Rejoined a local gun club, and plan to get very active shooting competitively, mostly .22 rifle NRA silhouette matches. Have never stopped being an active supporter of the 2nd Amendment -- my elected officials get a letter or email every time a related bill comes up. Fortunately, I live in New Mexico (born and raised) and we have a long history of opposing gun control.
Looking forward to being part of the forum.

Hello from Oregon

I have just joined the forum. First time I have ever been on one. I have been shooting USPSA (IPSC) for the last four or five years. I'm a Super Senior Production class "C" shooter. I am a "C" shooter because on classifier stages the targets are up close and I don't have to move. Otherwise I would be a "D". I try to shoot four to six matches a month. I shoot USPSA 3-Gun and Multi-gun, IDPA tactical multi-gun, Action Pistol, Speed Steel and occasionally Practical rifle. Weekend before last we shot in Albany, Oregon on a sunny 80 degree day, this weekend in Sherwood, Oregon in rain, sleet and snow 34 degree day. Where is Green Gores global warming when you need it.

Howdy from Central Virginia

I thought I had a login here a long time ago but apparently not. Guess the memory is one of the first thing to go.

I live in a rural area of the great Commonwealth of Virginia; far enough south of the occupied territory of NOVA that people don't bother us much about guns - except the increasingly liberal GA and governor Kaine, of course.

I can't say that I own any guns. Nope, they are way too dangerous for me and my 2 young boys to keep such dangerous devices around. Of course that means there is no need for any ATF attention if there is a gun ban pushed through by Crown Prince Obama should he win in November...

I guess there might be a pellet gun or two about, you know boys will be boys.. sure maybe once I had a couple of .22s and a few .40s and some wheel guns and some shotguns and a hunting rifle; but you know , live and learn :D:D

And whatever you hear, no way I am ever considering joining the CMP or getting a C&R license - that is just a vicious rumor ;) I mean what would I do with a Garand?

hi y'all

hey guys, just joined in a couple of days ago. Name is Jonathan from Houston, Texas. I shoot mostly a 10/22 and was a member of rimfire central. Active in paintball (FOF anyone?) mostly.
For some time I've been wondering if i need a handgun and the inevitable happened when my wife got robbed outside of her parents' home. So decided that both of us needed a home defense tool. Upon my research, i came to this forum and decided to join to gain valuable infos from like minded individuals who enjoy shootin' it up :D

Well, hope to gain as much experience shooting my guns (handgun) and here as well.

peace

I just signed up, but having been reading the post on this forum for looooong time, gotta say I've learned allot reading stuff here. My interest are, target, hunting collecting and self defense... I've just always loved guns. I grew up in the country and we used to skeet shoot and play in the woods all day long, that's pretty much it.

...been clinging to my guns and religion for awhile, just didn't know it.
Admitting you have a problem is half the battle, right?

Hello everyone. I've been lurking here for at least a year or so, but finally had to register so that I can see more of the pictures :D.

I'm in west central Florida, USA, on the rural outskirts of the Tampa Bay area. Plinking, hunting, and reloading of just about anything that goes bang are my most enjoyable hobbies.

Greetings to all

I think it is appropriate to put my first post here so I'll get it done now and then when something in one of the forums prompts me to post I can rest assured I've done things in the proper order.
I've lurked on this site for quite a while and finally decided to join to see the pictures and be able to do searches. There is certainly a wealth of information here.
I was a member of The Firing Line but when they closed down I just never moved over to another site, until now. I understand they are, (and have been for quite some time), back up, so if you check both sites you may see me post there too in the future.

New motivated member

Hi THR,

I am new to the gang and I am happy to belong. I recently purchased my first 1911, I am not rich so I purchased a Rock Island 1911. I heard they have potential to be good guns.

My goals are to have a soft recoil and I want a 2-3 lb trigger.

My reasons for these goals is that a buddy of mine was with Force Recon and his 1911 was setup like that. I want to shoot just like they do.

If someone knows what Delta Force does to their 1911's, I would like to know. I have seen them shoot and they are some pretty good shooters.

Thanks
J...

Another New Guy

Hello. Not quite a typical new guy here. I am an aspiring gun lover if that makes any sense. Love the boards!

Hello

I reenact/collect WWII, am planning to buy a M1911A1 as soon as i find what i'm looking for (at the moment, it's between a backordered SA GI Park'ed M1911A1 and a frankenstein Essex frame with original pretty Colt slide. Which one i pick depends much on how much longer my patience holds out).

great board! looking forward to learning a lot on here!

New member...just forgot to stop by this thread!

Hi,
I'm from GA and have been into guns since my early teens. Currently hunt the local wildlife (deer, hogs, and dove). I've also had my GFL since turning 21 (for over 20 years now) and regularly CC when not at work.

Recent trade for a ORM 1991 Colt and will be getting acquainted with it more soon.

Glad to have found a great place for information and like minded individuals. Thanks for having me.

hi everybody! i'm prob'ly going to be one of the oddest ducks in this forum. i've lived all my life in upstate ny, learned to shoot bb's, .22 & 20ga. in the country town where i grew up. took up small game hunting, then quit it when i killed a cottontail. just didn't feel good about it. became a hippie & been vegetarian for 37 years (i'm 57 now & retired), & didn't shoot much for all that time. recently a friend & his son asked me to do some target shooting in the backwoods of their land, & it turns out i'm still a pretty good shot. so, i guess i got the fever again, bought a used remington 597 .22lr w/a laminated wood stock & a sweet BSA scope, & now my biggest problem is trying to find a place to shoot targets. i can keep 27 out of 30 shots in a 8" circle @ 100yds, & i'm looking forward to improving on that.
i've got to emphasize that regardless of my past, i'm really serious about preserving hunting & gun rights. just 'cause i don't hunt anymore, i still defend everyone's right to do so, & to own, carry & use as many firearms of as many types as they like, as long as they do so responsibly. looking forward to reading posts & contributing my limited knowledge as well.
