Hello from Iceland.

I just registered and want to introduce myself. My name is Ingvar and i live in Iceland. My interest is in almost everithing there goes BANG ! but mostly in pistols and weapons from WWII.
I am a member in local shooting club and we have a skeet and 500m rifle ranges about 20 minutes drive from my home and an access to a indoor pistol range close by.
I try to go at least weekly to the indoor range and do most of my shooting there with a 9mm CZ-75 TS i bought new a couple of monts ago. Pistol permit is hard to get here so we are only around 10-15 here in my area shooting pistols and mostly 22, and 9mm.
The rifle range, on other hand is usually overcrowded so i have been a bit lazy shooting my rifles lately:scrutiny:
Due to never been able to hit anything with a shotgun they stays untuched on my living room wall or in my safe.
For now my safe include the CZ, a 22cal High Standard revolver, couple of 22 rifles, Lee Enfield #4Mk1, Mosin Nagant M91/30 and 91/30Pu sniper, Parker Hale 22/250 and a couple of old dusty shotguns.......And of course room for some more.
And here, due to high (and increasing) ammo prices handloading is the only way to go.

This seems to be a great forum and i guess i will be here a lot in the future

Hello, just thought I would stop by and introduce myself. I live in Southwest Missouri. I mostly enjoy shooting handguns, myself and my brother used to shoot quite a lot, he used to be a sheriffs deputy in Benton County here in Mo. Also I am disabled, confined to a wheelchair, and was just wondering if there were any others who visit these forums that are disabled?? Anyway hope to talk to everyone later!!!

New to THR. I'm a veteran of the US Army. Combat Medic, 7 mos on the Korean DMZ in 1968. Most guys had a worse time in Viet Nam, any of us who made it back are lucky.

Own mostly handguns but amonst my rifles are a Sprinfield 1903, Socom 16 w/Eotec sight, 1911 Argentino Mauser sporterized and rebarelled to 30-06.

Handguns include, for protection and homeland defense, H&K USP Tactical 45acp, Browning Hi-Power 40s&w, Ruger P-85 9mm.

Collectible handguns include CZ 52 tokarev caliber, CZ 27 former Nazi gun brought home as a trophy by unknown GI, Savage 1907 32 asp but should work with 32 acp. The Savage I picked up just this Sunday and have been cleaning for almost 2 days. I especially like to do this part, cleaning and oiling an old neglected gun.

Have been collecting guns for only 4 or 5 years. I'm new to this. Thanks

Hello All-

27 y/o Volunteer Firefighter from western Pennsylvania here. I found this site through my dear old friend, Harry Paget Flashman. I am hawkishly defensive of our Second Amendment rights, and am a fierce libertarian.

As for the heat, I never leave the house without my Beretta 96D, and among my small collection of quality arms includes a Mosin Nagant M44 carbine, a Savage 24E-S 20G/22.LR, and my favorite, a Romanian AK47 clone with FAB and Tapco tactikewl furniture.

Hey everyone. Army dude from vermont. Joined the site a couple weeks ago. I currently own a rem 700 pss, smith corona 03A3 (11/43), a few .22's and a caspian 1911 (carry). Working on restoring the 03A3.

My name is Skip and I have found this forum from references on another. I am a medically retired paramedic that worked in county government for about 18 years. I have always enjoyed shooting but haven't done any for several years. I am mainly into rim-fire guns, both rifles and pistols. This is due to some spinal injuries that have left me with some nerve damage and I want to avoid recoil. I like modding Ruger 10/22s and am in the middle of doing a 17HM2 conversion on one. I no longer hunt but do enjoy punching paper. I really used to enjoy shooting skeet and have been tempted to try again with a 20 gauge but haven't talked myself into it yet. I look forward to reading and learning more from all of you and also replying where ever I think I can add something to a post.

My current guns are: 4 10/22s (in various stocks), a Ruger Charger, Walther P22, Sig Sauer Mosquito, Springfield XD .40 5" (for home protection), Savage 93 in .17HMR, Marlin .22 bolt (can't remember the model right now), Mossberg 402 Lever-action, and a Mossberg 342K bolt.

Greetings all, I'm a 34 yo male from Washington state who served as a 13f in the army and was a Boyscout. My dad and his dad kept modest but sufficient gun cabinets, Winchester model 70s and 94s, Remington 870 Wingmasters and the like. The only pistols they owned or cared to own were Highstandard 22s for cheap target shooting and occasionally taking a grouse or rabbit, and one heirloom .32 revolver from the late 1800s. I came along and was always very interested in things like Glocks and Galils, and my dad actually followed suit and took an interest to some degree in martial weapons. One thing I am very fortunate to have experienced was the period my dad had an FFL, before you needed to pay much for them and needed to be an actual dealer as your major source of income. My latest purchase at this posting is a Ruger SR9, which I bought back in June. My primary CCW is a Smith and Wesson Sigma .40, even though I do own an H&K USP .45. The .40 is just more accurate in my hands. My favorite arm in my collection is probably my AR-15 in a somewhat modest configuration, and I'm very proud of my H&K 94 9mm. Both shoot and operate beautifully in my experience, however I really seldom shoot at all, I mainly just love to collect and talk weapons. When it comes to hunting, I have no experience with rifles, just my trusty Hoyt/Eastman bow, my Browning Buckmark, my Winchester model 37 20 gauge and a couple pump 12 gauges for waterfowl. I keep my collection to around 20 guns at a time for this stage of my life, but like to tell people "I have more than I need, less than I want." My dream is to one day own a Barrett M107/82A1, but have many interim less expensive goals, like the FNH SCAR system really looks like something I'd want when available. When I see pictures of those, it's almost the same kind of feeling as looking at a beautiful woman in lingerie and spike heels. heh heh.

hey, my name's chip and i live in TN by way of NYC... i've been shooting since i was 12 and tend to lean towards semi-auto pistols (mostly 9mm's since with the ammo cost i can shoot a lot more...), although, with the less restrictive gun laws in TN i'll be picking up a shotgun and a rifle or two in no time i'm sure.
although i've owned several different pistols over the last 10 years, i've never really been into gun forums until recently since i picked up a post-recall Ruger SR9 that has been extremely good (better in fact than some of the way more expensive one's i've owned like sig's, kimber's, and H&K's, that's another story though...), and since the gun is so new the only real info about it or aftermarket options/parts becoming available are found in forums like these.
cheers & aloha

Hi all!

My name is Mike and my friends call me Beta.(Long story) I live in Norcross, Georgia which is just outside 285 in Atlanta. I spent 6 years in the Navy(87-93) as a FC and now work for a global Engineering company specializing in AMR in Alpharetta, Georgia.

I'm new to the site obviously but hope to learn a lot and maybe even contribute every now and then. My all time favorite pistol would be the 1911 and I have a soft spot for the M-14. I had to sell most of my collection some time back but I'm now slowly rebuilding. I own a S&W M&P9 which I'm hoping to get rid of soon but also own a S&W 10-8 which I really enjoy. (Especially since I just bought it, I'm impressed with how quickly I've "bonded" to it.)

Anyway, hello to everyone! I hope to make some new friends and if anyone is in the Metro Atlanta area, always looking for shooting buddies or whatever.

Long-time lurker

I am (among other things) a firearms and tactics instructor (mostly handguns) in the Commonwealth of VA, working for a company that offers training to military, police, and honest citizens.

I'm a regular IDPA competitor shooting in SSP

I carry a Glock, but have, shoot, and am familiar with most of the modern handguns that agencies use and students show up with. I also have a fondness for antiques such as the 1911 and P-35.

I've lurked around THR for years and thought I'd finally register.

newby to site

I have been lurking this site for some time but never quite got around to signing on until recently. I am a 57 y/o retired M.D. with interests in most things that go bang but particularly handguns. I have competed in action pistol type games and believe that widespread CCW should be the norm rather than the exception. Politically I am more Libertarian than anything else although, like many folks this year, I'll vote for the lesser of the two evils. (Think of it as a vote against BOJB.) Favorite guns? HK and Glock come to mind along with full-auto anything. My constant companion however is a Airweight S&W 38 snubby. Interests other than firearms include bicycling, photography, scuba and free diving, and boating (specifically, trawlers and cruising). There are a lot of fine minds in these forums; let's use the power of thought and visualize a White House free from the stench of BO.

Hello HighRoader's,
I have been a member for several days and need to get my introduction made.
Since my first cap gun I have been hooked on firearms, little did my parents realize what they started! My collection is rather broad: bolts, singles, pumps, autos, revolvers. Long action calibers are my favorite. I live east of the Rockies and North of the Mason Dixon line. Looking forward to reading and learning with you.

Greetings from Western Canada

Actually from a lot of places in the world. I work all over, and cannot shoot as much as I would like to. I am far into the rifle hobby, I have 2 Ackley Improved rifles, and reload for several other calibers, from .243 to 45/70. I moly coat barrel and bullets, and cast bullets for the 45. I mostly have old army rifles, mausers and enfields, or lee enfields. I do not shoot "sub MOA" groups, I am a hunter and am very happy with 1.5 MOA. The side of a moose is a large target, and that is accurate enough for the game I hunt.

Every year I bring one of these old army (one from 1886) rifles back to life, Load a few boxes of shells for it, and take it hunting. I had a p14 rechamberd to take 300 win mag brass, so I guess it is a 303 win mag, it is very accurate. Lucky for me, a moose for the most part does not know if it is being shot by a 6.5 or a '06 or a 45 if you hit them in the right place. I am old enough to know that one or two hundred feet a second has rarely made the difference in a hunt, and that it is rarer that a man without a chronograph knows how slow his bullets are going.

Right now I am on a barge offshore Brazil. I should make it home for the last week or two of moose season, and deer season is a week longer than moose. I enjoy reading the rifle stories.

Write on, I will comment once in a while, just so you know I am reading.
Glad to have found the site.

Greetings from Texas

Hello to all! I am glad to be a member of what really seems to be a fine community of individuals who support freedom.

I am a long time hunter and shooter. I own numerous firearms. For pistols, I have a couple of SIGs and a Glock. I also have a weakness for bolt-action rifles. And, for the first time in my almost four decades on this planet, I broke down and bought a black rifle back in May. A DPMS LR308-AP4. Loving it!

Here's looking forward to future interactions on the board with many of you. Hopefully, we can learn much from each other.
