hello

I am a college student in Georgia and have been hunting since I could hold the gun up. My family has a long standing tradition of gun collecting and I have been customizing my glock7 when at home

New / Old member with the same question

Hello all, way back in 2007 I joined and posted this question:

I also have an l1a1 similar to the pictures posted, it says cai - sporter. The barrel says made in canada - the barrel is threaded, it has the folding charging handle, and takes metric mags just fine. My quesiton is, will us made fal trigger group parts work in this reciever? I bought it alread pre-ban configured, but I cant tell that any of the parts are us made. Also, any ideas on exactly who manufactured the receiver?

Can anyone help me out on this? tks, db

Hi everyone,
I'm a retired Navy Vet living in Durango CO. After 32 years in the Navy mostly serving with the USMC I was ready to move to a small town. Durango is a perfect fit.

I'm a SASS shooter and a gun engraver. I've been a CCW for about 15 years and have never pulled it, but it's always there. I've just changed my carry weapon from Colt Commander .45 cal to a XD in 9 mm. After my 5th hand surgery (3 on right, 2 on left) I needed to lessen the recoil a bit.

I like the 9 mm it shoots well, run over 500 rounds without a malfunction and it is smooth to pull. I hope I can carry it for 15 more years without needing it.

Best Regards,

Hi, I'm new to the firearm world and forums in general. I went into a local gunstore looking for a new knife and walked out with a rifle and later a handgun. As seems the case with many I have another on layaway and a plans for more. It's been a long time since I started a new 'hobby' so I haven't been so behind the 8 ball in quite awhile. Hence my searching the web for info when I found this site. I decided to join because it seems a lot classier than many of the other forums I've checked out. Not so much bickering, poor taste, ranting, baseless opinions and intolerance. I have been particularly impressed with the political views and lack of knee jerk judgements. Seems like people here actually think and are intelligent and experienced. I'm intersted in target shooting primarily and would eventually like to get into handloading, and long range shooting. Mostly, it's just for fun and I enjoy learning new skills and love the technical aspect of it, home defense and preparedness for when the SHTF is a bonus. Thanks for all the help and info, hope you don't mind answering newb questions.

new reader from TN

This looks like a very active forum full of great info. Good work!

I own a Ruger SuperBlackhawk .44mag 10.5" barrel and a S&W 22A-1. I've been away from the sport for sometime and have recently been getting back into it, the 22A was my most recent purchase. I got a few others but these are my newest.
I use to reload a .357mag for a Colt Trooper 6" but that was years ago and I sold all my reload stuff and regrettfully the gun too :banghead:. I thought about reloading the .44 but spent that money on the 22A :scrutiny:.

Anyway I'll most likely do more reading than posting but lible to fall into the mix before I know it.

Best to all.
.66Cal.

Welcome.
I hear the great thing about the .44mag is you can load 2 .22LR into the cylinder and shoot it cheap!

hi im the new guy, im bobby and i shoot and hunt black and smokeless both im married and my wife just took her first hunter ed. course and passed it and is learning how to shoot for the first real time. im teaching her safety, and shot gun tactics and tomorrow is her big day .. first time out in the field. ive been hunting for 23 years and am a member of team hornaday . my wife wanted to learn about safety so i told her she needed to take the course, then i would take her out in the field. additionally she is using her own 12 g. shotgun . so enough about us... i have a question..a friend of mine has a rem 7mm and he can't close the bolt. im going over to his place in the morning and take a look at it. any advice what to look for? he says the bolt wont close.. i think possibly he is overlooking the tigger has to be depressed so the bolt wil slide in or maybe the magazine isnt properly set. but it could be anything.. Help please

Hi y'all. Bought my first handgun this November. Shortly thereafter I found this website. Love it.

I am a conservative trial attorney in the Western Florida Panhandle. I've shot rifles since I was five, shotguns since college, and now - finally - handguns.

This site has a lot of great information. Thanks!!!

This site is great, still finding good information.

I started deer hunting when I was 15, so for several years shot a lot of rifles and shotguns.

Then I didn't touch a gun for a long time. Now, almost 25 years later, I purchased my first handgun, a S&W .357 revolver. Love shooting it. Looking to get a couple more in the near future, including a .22. I don't want to be spending 40 bucks each time I go to the range, and with two small kids in the house, don't have time to reload.

This site is full of great information, glad to be here!

Newbie Transitioning from Hip to Concealed Carry

Greetings everyone!

What a great forum you've got here! I've already learned a lot and have miles of reading ahead of me I'm sure.

I've been "gun naked" since leaving the organization where I carried one professionally on my hip. As a new "concealed protection" packer, I have so many questions. I've not made a purchase yet. I can't can't figure out an armed response to the "10 feet - 3 seconds - someone loses" scenario. I'm used to arriving "on scene" with a team on an L.E. platform, everyone with one in the chamber - single action ready. Now I have to get the darned thing off my ankle or out of my pants, put one in the chamber, and fix my sight. I think my 3 seconds are up.

Anyone had real world L.E. experience who could make a reasonable translation to concealed carry techniques for me? I don't want to shoot at ANYONE, but I've had to before and with the new entanglements of concealment, I still want to be able to retrieve my weapon, deter my attacker without shooting if possible (I never believed in "if you pull it, you fire it") and shoot cleanly and safely if necessary - all within my 3 second life expectancy.

I'm won't ask the "what's the best concealed gun question". I've already read some excellent posts about that. I'm looking at a Glock 23, a Springfield XD 40, an MK40 and an S&W M&P 45ACP or a S&W short 357MAG - all with Crimson Trace or equivallent.

Up until now, I've always handled "situations" with a short tactical 20GA, but they don't conceal very well when I have to go into towns where walking around carrying a shotgun makes dishonest people nevervous:D

Thanks for "being here" for guys like me.

Hello Everyone,
I am a collector of .410s mostly - but like talking shop with anyone. I do find that many who write about the .410 do so from a standpoint of conjecture and here-say from others. Having reloaded and shot countless #s of rounds through the
.410 I find it one of the most versatile firearms for everything from squirrels to deer - one Gun that does it all.
Hope to talk with you soon,

I am new here, I have been reading and watching this forum for some time. I got away from shooting after I left home and recently got the bug back. I bought my first gun since selling the little that I had acquired while living with the family. I bought a Bersa Thunder 380 and it is the best purchase that I have made yet. I am very impressed with it and found many good reviews on this site. Thanks all, I look forward to many great conversations!!!

Hey, I've been a member for about a week or so and I hadn't seen this sticky. Every time that I come to this site I go right to rifle country. I guess that that gives away what I'm here for. I love all guns, but rifles are my passion. I have an sks and a remington 597 for cheap plinking. I know my "collection" isn't much to brag about, but it's what I can afford on a waiter's budget.
