Morning
I'm new here and would like to say hello. I'm a 20yr retiree from the USCG and just getting back into collecting/shooting. I guess the main reason is I'm trying to find a way for my son (19yrs old and is in a Comminuty College EMS/EMT course) a good way to relieve stress. I found this site after buying my first Mozzie, a 91/59 and searching for history/care of the rifle. I now have a GSG-5 on layaway and I've gained a wealth of info on its quirks and problems. Like me, if anyone owns a Harley Davidson they know what its like to spend $$$ to get it the way you want it to run!! ( HD means "Hundreds of Dollars"). My other enjoyment is antique farm equipement. My wife will never understand how I can stand in front of a Hit-Miss engine with a goofy look on my face and watch it run for hours. This stuff was Top of the Line engineering of its time. I guess its the same with me when she can spend an hour looking at a pile of towels.
Well enough of that, just wanted to say hello, and I'm looking forward to spending some time on the site.

Hello, my name is tom. I have carried on the job and as a citizen. My favorite is my Glock 26. However, on the job I have usually carried my Beretta 96G. I have several other pistols and a couple of reliable shot guns.

It is a pleasure to make your acquaintance and I look forward to your insights.

Great site

I've read lots of stuff on here before I bought my Walther P22. Too bad it wasn't around when I bought my first handgun - the S&W Sigma .40 about 14 years ago. Just bought a Glock and looking for a H&K USP to sort of build my collection around. Thanks in advance to everyone who has helped me before and will in the future.

Awesome site that you guys have here. Every time that I do a Google search for anything gun related, THR seems to show up and have the info that I am looking for. Decided to finally join in.

Hey. Newbie here. I signed up because I'm restoring two of my Grandfathers' old rifles. One is a savage 340 .30-30 bolt action and the other is a Remington 511-P bolt action .22. Basically I was hoping members would be able to help me find a couple of parts...namely the rear peep sight assembly for the 511. Anyway, thanks for having a great site.

hey

well, i am a new member that lives in Idaho, so i ahve grown up around hunting and guns and what not, i am only 15 years old, but i know full well about gun safety and i have had to teach it to other people as well, i am mainly a "sniper" in the gun world, i shoot long distance because when hunting here deer can be 400 yards off and hitting that with a .243 and a 4x scope can be quite challenging, although, i do own a savage.
i really enjoy shooting pistols, whether they be wheelguns or semi autos.
most accurate shot i have ever made at a distance was a deer's heart at 421 yards with my .243. so what is that, about the size of a CD disk?
but, recently i have been shooting my CZ 75 B and i love it.
i still need some more practice with it though and i will get to being very very accurate with it.
so i am a rifle and pistol shooter.
i can't hit squat with a shotgun, i have tried it with skeet and it is just not my style.
so that's me!

hey hows it going! my name is Jay im from New (State where everything is illegal or banned) Jersey. i still exercise my 2nd ammendment rights though! ive been a gun guy all my life and ive fired TONS of different weapons. i own different types of firearms for hunting purposes and SHTF scenarios. glad to be here and i cant wait to participate in discussions! take care all!

What's going on my fellow shooters? I'm a new member to this site.

I live in rual Texas, where we still have quite a few freedoms. I work internationally on a drillship. I have a 100yd back stop behind my house and I shoot every day I'm at home. My favorites are my Weatherby Vanguard .300WBY, BFR .500S&W 10", both of my 1911's, Redhawk .44mag, Ruger.22 Charger, Chinese SKS, and Mosberg 817 .17HMR.

I have been hunting, plinking and shooting skeet since I was 5. My first rifle was my grandfathers Savage .22 @age 6. My first new gun was a Winchester 1300 12ga. @ are 12. My first handgun was my great-grandfather's Remington-Rand M1911A (it now resides in a shadow box with his dog tags). I still own everyfirearm that I have ever possesed. My collection has grone to 28 in total and I require a second safe. My wife says I have an addiction (I think she's right). I impress to importance of responible firearms handling and ownership on everyone. I am a firm believer that guns don't kill people, people kill people; and that armed, honest and responsible citizens keep the rest in check.

I have referenced this site often in the past for the advise and opinions of all of you and figured I'd join in. I look forward to exchanging experience, ideas, and opinions with you all.

Oh, I guess I should introduce myself.

I'm from the Dallas/FtWorth area, and I'm a new owner and shooter. I'm mainly focused on becoming a safe and accurate shooter for now, and I read to become more competent.

I also lurk on The Firing Line, and I wandered over to TexasGunTalk.

Hey guys and gals. Good to be on THR forum.

I'm a fan of handguns, shotguns and rifles. Home defense and concealed carry are my main focus concerning armament.

Love listening to Michael Bane's Downrange Radio and watching the shooting sports shows on Outdoor Channel.

Recently completed a Combat Pistol class at Tulsa Defensive Shooting Academy with my Sig Sauer at my side. Next time I'm taking the course with my Glock 31, ammo prices be damned!

Never give up the fight. Never quit.

Hello THR

New here and ex veteran, love hunting, fishing, sports. Love bolt actions the most and long range shooting. Handguns are fun as well, I guess all guns are good. Look forward to reading a lot of good posts.

Hello everyone,
I'm a new member. I have been lurking for a few days. This seems like a good place with a lot of good people.

I have only been shooting for about 5 years. I like to shoot big bore revolvers, AR type rifles and larger rifles. Some of the guns I own are S & W 500, S & W 44 Mag., BFR 45/70 Gov't, Desert Eagle, Ruger 454 Casull, A couple of Glocks, A couple of Remington 700's, and a couple of 50 BMG's.

I like to load my own ammo. I first started reloading strictly for economic reasons. I soon learned that reloading was also a fun part of the sport and a way to be more accurate at longer ranges.

I am a law abiding citizen. It is my opinion that anyone who would take away my 2nd amendment rights for any reason would also take away my other constitutional rights.

I look forward to participating in the discussions on this site. Thanks to all who make this possible.

Eugene

Haven't been called that in a while...

I was still getting 'carded' when I was 39 but I still haven't been called a new guy in a while...:D

At 12, received a 2nd generation handed down .410 - hunted everything with it. At 16, a 3rd generation Winch. pump 22. Still have em both and have handed em down to the next generation! Grew up with all the shootin' irons hung over the headboard in my room. I'm makin' sure mine grow up the same way! Damn the trigger lock nazis - teaching, learning, and common sense worth 100x that nonsense...

Don't know a lot about ALL the firearms out there, just the ones that interest me. Liked the idea of action pistol ranges - so acquired, mastered, moved on. Wanted to try out Trap shooting - acquired, joined a league, mastered (mostly), moved on... Stumbled onto a deal on a couple bolt action .308s. Wanted to master long range so acquired and that will be an ongoing effort to master...

Then once upon a time in the West, I chanced upon a Cowboy Action Shoot. That's all she wrote - addiction was immediate. I'm working on my second gun cart after 'outgrowing' the original one I built. For a typical Saturday shoot, this one needs to hold 4 rifles, 4 shotguns, eight pistols, a few hundred rounds of shot shells, 500-600 rounds of rifle/pistol shells, PLUS SIDE MATCH GUNS! Its lookin' to be a 4 wheeled 'war wagon' set up... I've got my boys and my wife all interested and also SASS members. Only the youngest shoots regular with me, but I've also got other Cowboy recruits who are joining me regularly...

Got involved in Cub Scouts / Boy Scouts 7 years ago to lead my own boys. Sad how few people are willing to actually 'do for others'. I became a leader because no one else would... Now I've found the calling of being a shooting instructor for Scouts. Hope to do some good there...

With all that goes on out there I'll be visiting THR now to keep tabs on the idiots in D.C. and their minions as well as getting tidbits and tips on my corral of topics.

New to this sight just lookin to talk. I have trouble sleeping at night so here I am. I own a few guns I am only 24 years old. I have a Browning A-5 12GA, Glennfield Mod60 .22cal Riffle, Saiga .308 Riffle ( Russian ),and a Bryco Jennings T-380 Pistol.

New to THR

I was raised in NJ so the idea of owning a firearm never really crossed my mind. Now I am living in Florida, recently became a father and homeowner, and I have discovered the joys of gun-ownership. No longer will I worry about my family at night or when I am off at work. I found several pistols my wife and I are comfy with for cc and also keep a shot gun handy for the home, too.
This and some other forums were so helpful in sorting through all that is out there, I wanted to say thanks. Thanks!
So begins the quest for an ever larger gun safe...

Hi, I'm from Ireland and next month will be applying for my first Firearms Certificate (basically a gun license) here. Ownership is greatly restricted by Government control here and mainly consists of shotguns and small caliber (.22) rifles.

Despite all this restriction, there is still widespread smuggling of illegal firearms (brand new hardware from Eastern Europe and older stuff from illegal paramilitary groups (PIRA, RIRA, CIRA, INLA). Politically I'm a Socialist (probably one of the only Leftists) who supports more private gun ownership. A true democracy, in my opinion, needs citizens to be active in society but also be armed.

Newbie

I bought my first handgun the day I turned 21 "glock 19". I then got into motorcycles and didn't do a lot of shooting. However, a few too many crashes later I gave that up and guns are now my #1 hobby. I love all guns. I enjoy hunting with a good shotgun. I have started to get into sharp shooting. Revolvers are my new favorite even though I never thought I would say that, but a COLT PYTHON can do that to you. I lover Rugers durability, HK's fine workmanship and S&W's customer service. I shoot best when under pressure and competing against friends. Ammo is expensive so I like to take my time now. I wasn't always like that, but then again I used to drive all over town until gas got out of hand.

Howdy.

I'm a n00b to the forum.

Kind of new to guns as well, although I have owned a Glock 20 and a Sig 9 (no idea which model). I don't have them anymore. However, I am getting a new Beretta PX4 Sub Compact in a couple days and plan on learning everything I need to learn, shooting a truckload, and getting instruction (taking classes). Eventually I will probably get my CCW.

Oh, and I'm in Kentucky.

Thanks for havin me.

greetings from Idaho-

I love to hunt, but have been infatuated with archery for the last score of years. I particularly like finding big mule deer, and though I have a terrible time evr finding a drainage with elk in it, I enjoy chasing wapiti, too. I teach school for a living and play rock and roll to make enough side dough to hunt.

Pleased to meet you all-
