Hello from ~wifey!

Hey everyone.

I recently was asked to dispose of the non-FFL things from a friends estate...and that's only because I'm kinda geeky and do marketing.

I've found this forum a number of times in my research for infomation on this guy's stuff. It seems to be a really cool forum.

My DH, our children and I all shoot a variety of long & short guns. He's very competitive, and participates at least twice a month.

That much activity leads to reloading, which leads to keeping he and his friends 'on deck,' so over the years we've become suppliers of bullets (primarily Bear Creek Moly-Coated), do bulk buy for powders as the need arises and are working on primers.

I look forward to getting to know you!

Halloooo from the wilds of upstate NY. almost old enought to retire, but i cant afford it. been a hunter, shooter all my life. glad this forum has been opened back up to the public. lookin forward to some good times.

New

Hello All,

I am new to this site and glad to be here after almost all of my "google searches" usually landed me here anyhow!! I look forward to being amongst others whose passion is guns and learning some new and useful things.

I have hunted all my life so I have always been around guns. I live in TN and still love hunting to this day. I just recently (last 2 years or so) have really developed a love for guns and have begun spending the better part of my time (and money) buying/trading them to get a feel for what I do and don't like. It just never seems to get old. I guess this is normal?? Someone say yes!

While I'm interested in most all guns, I own mostly a few hunting rifles and handguns and love just target shooting. I'm sure I will have many questions and will try to only ask the necessary ones...

This site has a good vibe to it and I look forward to lots of good conversations. And again, glad to be among other gun enthusiasts.

Howdy,

I just joined today. Name is Nick and I now live in Oregon (sligtly less commie than where I spent the first 40 years of my life). Still, it felt like I crossed a border and not a state line when I moved here. What a relief to live in a more or less free state. Love it here in OR. Looking forward to participating in the forums here.

Ive made a few posts before. You guys were very helpful. Right now I just purchased a Springfield XDm chambered in 9mm and a Colt AR-15A2 Government. Ive taken the XDm out twice. Put about 350 rounds through it. I have yet to take out the AR-15 though. I shoot at French Creek Outfitters. Its an indoor range and you cant shoot ar-15's there. Closes public outdoor range is about an hour away. So I gotta plan a day to take out my AR-15.

but yea i just wanted to say this is a pretty decent forum. The place I was at before was pretty iffy most of the time.

new guy

sorry it took so long to post here. just looked at this thread.

well here goes. I am 18 + years navy chief. I am originally from oakman alabama, a small town near birmingham. Been reloading for 17 years and hunting all but 5 years of my life. I have aquired several long guns over the years. too many to list all but my fav is rem 700, 308. trying to sell my rem 700 338 rem ultra mag. will post on that thread. i think i am a pretty knowledgeable person when it comes to rifle caliber reloading and riflesmithing(minor things like bedding and trigers). besides my family, the shooting sports are my number one thing to do and talk about. I have a good sence of humor and crack jokes often.

Just found this thread.. I recently joined after having this site pop up in searches for info several times. I'm an involuntarily "retired" engineer, said retirement being precipitated by my job getting sent overseas ( Israel). With a BSEE degree and two patents, I'm wondering what kind of "better paying job" I supposed to "get retrained for"...

Anyway... more to the point. Been shooting on and off since I was 7. Collected surplus WW2 pistols and a few rifles. I shot my Colt Gov Mod (45ACP) iin a league for several years when I lived in Northern NJ. Great fun. Moved south a few miles. Looking to get back to shooting . My present wife's "dowry" included a S+W 4516 in 45ACP which she can't shoot due to an injury. Looking to buy her a Marlin Camp in 45. Probably will sell one of my 9mms ( WW2 P-38, Star Mod B (post war) and a Lahti M40 ) to fund that.

An 181 series Mini and an 870 in 12 ga are also in the locker.

another new guy

From west central Mo. Small town of about 3000. Even though it's statistically one of the highest areas for meth labs in the country I see very little evidence of it and the crime rate is low. May be due to the very high number of NRA members with CCW. Or could be all the Amish. But it's a nice, peaceful, friendly little place with lots of churches. I'm a preacher and Sunday school teacher at one of the Southern Baptist churches. Have almost finished Masters degree in Theology. Do most of my preaching at area nursing homes and the Veterans Home about 30 miles away. Get to sub for the Pastor sometimes who is also the Chaplain at the Veterans Home. Have my CCW and carry at all times. (except when preaching) Several members with CCW permits so that's not a concern. Guess you could say we are a church full of "clinging to our guns and faith" types who are more concerned with preaching God's Word, freedom of speach, our right to bear arms, preserving the integrity of the Constitution than we are with "political correctness".
I spend a lot of time at the local firing range trying to learn to shoot straight again after losing the sight in my right eye. Doing OK with the 9mm, .357 mag., and .22 mag 2" barrel from about 20-25 ft. (a little longer with the .357) But can't hit anything yet with the new .380. Hard to find .380 ammo that I can afford to shoot. Have ordered a Mossberg 12 ga, 20" barrel 8 shot, pistol grip to help make up for my less than perfect aim. Not good for CCW, but will be nice leaning against the wall next to the bed or in the passenger seat of my car in some of the neighborhoods I have to visit occassionally. Doubt if I take the time to learn to shoot long guns left handed, but I use to be a very good shot with anything from a .22 to an AK. Stuck with handguns now I guess. Sure is a lot more expensive now. I took a break from shooting for a few years and took up golf. STUPID game!! About as expensive as shooting is now and isn't near as enjoyable. And I'd much rather defend myself with a .357 mag than a 9 iron.

Hi, ran across this site today while looking for some info and it looked like a nice place to read and visit. Live in S.E. Missouri, been an avid hunter/shooter for 40+ years. Own 25 to 30 long guns and half that many handguns. Favorites are old winchester rifles and shotguns, and large caliber stainless S&W's. Have a touch of the tactical bug too, tricked out Colt AR-15, 870 pump gun extended and collapsible, etc. Been somewhat of an amature knife collector on and off for the past 30 years, folders, fixed, autos, and specialty.

Hello everyone!

Greetings from Louisiana

I am new here but not to firearms, concealed carry or daily LEO work. One of my primary interests is in collecting guns and have an extensive collection of both long guns as well as handguns. All my firearms are quality name brand and I shoot several types and calibers often. I am well past 60 yrs of age and headed for the 70 yr mark. My line of work is in law and I am a court qualified expert in crime & accident reconstruction in addition to proper police procedure and firearm. I have testified in hundreds of cases over the southern US in both civil and criminal cases and for prosecution, plaintiff and defendant.

They call me PAPPY....I am old and tough and hard to bluff. I like fast horses, firm feeling women and old whiskey and guns. No, I ain't never going to tell you how many I have. Besides, I really don't know anymore after 65 years.

Heard a lot about the forum, thought I'd check it out. Been poking around most of the day and I've come to the conclusion that this is probably one of those places where I should shut my gob and learn.

So I'll probably be pretty quiet unless I find a discussion in which I actually have something worthwhile to contribute ;)

Brand spankin' new member here. I live near Canton, Ohio, and I'm a Juvenile Corrections officer (I formerly worked for the State as an adult CO). I'm interested in shooting, leatherwork of all kinds, armoring, swordsmanship, metal work, knifemaking, bushcraft, hunting, archery, sewing, reading, history, both Western and Eastern Martial Arts... pretty much any and everything except most sports.

New

I wanted to say Hello. I have checked out this forum from time to time. I am impressed with the help members offer and the lack of personal attacks when compared to other sites.
I hunt, target shoot and want to learn more about handguns for self defense. I am thinking about getting my cc permit. I need to read the fine print on forum rules and will be asking a few questions/ offering opinions from time to time.
Its December , so Merry Christmas to all ( Not afraid to say it! ) ( no sell out to the PC crowd here)

Hello, Just registered, new guy, oldshooter. Enjoy everything frearms, reloading and hunting, Yep I'm a gun nut! Always interested in finding new info for shooting and reloading, kinda like to hear of other hunters success, but do get envious, especially if those darned pictures are posted!

Hello from San Antonio

Just a lurker here. Good info on this site. Nice to see there is a gun site without all the snobbery. I collect all sorts of firearms. Some to shoot at the range. Some for hunting. Some to carry daily. Some just to look at. And the gun porn on this site is pretty good. Keep up the pics.

Very new guy here. Left-wing gun owner enjoying the much-less-hostile (and occasionally creepy and stalkerish) feeling caused by other forums that will not be named. Been into firearms for decades now, plus I do metalworking, leatherworking and photography in my spare time (which I have way too much of since being laid off this week). Also, huge videogame nerd who enjoys bringing a nauseating level of realism (or at least a ridiculous level of variety) to shooter games with user-made mods.
