Howdy all.

Just came across this forum for info on a Beretta purchase, and ended up seeing friends here that I haven't hunted with in over a decade. I've always been a rifle and bird man with a heavy respect for the craftsmanship and history of my collection, but I have wanted to get a CHL lately and felt I needed to immurse myself in knowledge and to put in time at the pistol range before I put things into motion. I live in TX, but I travel over 11 or more states in a year for business. I felt compelled to get into the defensive side of weapons since the borders have been erupting recently, to protect me and my business assets on those lonely highways. I hope to hunt with you Art again before another decade!

Models and Calibers

Some of us may not be familiar with the manufacturer's model name/number.

It would be helpful to specify the caliber of the weapon that's for sale/trade.

Thanks.

I am a new member

Hi all,

I am a new member to this forum as well as guns. Prior to this I had never owned a gun.

Now I have a brand new Glock 19. Got as a X-mas gift.

I was so excited I joined the glocktalk but the administrator never granted me the permission. So I joined this group. I like this forum because it believes in the freedom of expression. I think it would not be wrong to say Glocktalk is more like China and this forum is more like US

New member

I drop by and read this form from time to time.
I'm 40 years old now, grow up and live in Idaho, owned my first gun at the age of 5. At age 16, a local police officer wanted to teach me how to shoot. After, embarrassing him, I realized I had found a sport that I was good at. Got into hunting, but wasn't much spot for me. So, I gave up scopes, and even went to black power. Still, target shooting was the most challenging. Now, I mostly like to collect and target shoot. I finding myself more and more concerned about our right to own guns. I have always felt the weight of responsibility of owning and using guns, but now find that weight shifting to the need to support gun ownership. I registered mainly to thank those of you who express yourselves and really do take the High Road and promote and educate others on gun ownership and responsibility.
Thank you all!

I've been a member for a while but just lurking around reading mostly. I figured it's about time to check in and introduce myself...

New to the site but a long time gun nut. I'm big into the Glock line, but purchase what ever trips my trigger from time to time. Anyway, Glad to be a member here and I look forward to participating.

Heyo! I've actually been a member since May, but I've never had the chance to introduce myself. So, hello all!
I'm currently a student at the University of Maryland, and I don't yet own firearms. I will be turning 21 in a couple of weeks, so I hope to change the latter soon. :)

Howdy all!

Been lurking and reading for awhile, so I finally decided to get involved in the discussion. A little about me; from upstate NY but now living in south georgia. I am serving proudly as a firefighter with the USAF. Got my CCW and carry any time I'm not going to base. My favorite weapons in my collection are my USP and Romanian AK. Besides shooting, I also enjoy chess, digital photography, and video games(Fallout 3, GTA, flight sims and strategy). Came to THR to see what more I can learn about shooting and CCW.

This is my first post here but I have been lurking around here for about three years. I have used this site to make several purchases none of which I regret. Thanks to all.

I just joined. Guns are for twerps and felons, I think they are bad.

Just kidding. I love guns

I particularly love the colt .45's in revolvers, because of the versatility involved with how they can be loaded. That is where i'm going to train and learn on reloading, is with .45 colts.

For pistols, they are all okay. In semi auto for anything, i'd preffer a 9mm with hammer option, such as the taurus/baretta p92. I think 9mm is the perfect semi auto cartridge as far as SD semi autos go..... But i think colt .45 is the best overall pistol cartridge for anything. It's so so much more versatile than any 380, 38, 9mm, 40, 45acp, 10mm anything in semi auto pistols. It can be loaded down to low recoil light hitters, or loaded hot up to 44 mag type stuff - in the same gun!

And I LOVE rifles. Bolt 30-06's are the best imo, i do not think that .308 has any advantage except maybe the price of rounds, over a 30-06. For semi automatic rifles, both 7.62x39 and 5.56 appease my taste. heck, those .223/5.56 rounds do some nasty stuff, about the same as a 44 mag on gel. Rifles rock.

My first gun was a 20 gauge remmington 870, which i still have after almost 12 years. Shotguns are fun. Hunt anything in the world with a 20 gauge, and it is legit or even overkill.

Newbie here

Hello everyone. This seems like a great place to hang out. I am a new member in Austin, TX. I am into handguns and shotguns. I currently own a Ruger P95 and a newly acquired Sig P6.

Like a few others here, I have been lurking for a few months and love the discussions on THR. I am just getting back into shooting after a long time away. Mostly interested in handguns (target and self defense), and shotguns.

The good news: I just received my Indiana CCL yesterday -- thanks to the wisdom, cautions, and experiences shared on this forum, I believe I will be able to use it carefully, properly, and wisely.

I came across your forum, but I'm not a weapon owner yet. I'm looking to
purchase a pistol and shotgun. Mainly for home and personal defense. Being a
first time buyer, I'm reserved about not looking stupid and asking the right
questions. Your forum seems to be for those well versed in weapons, so I
decided my best bet was just to send a message. First, I'd like to thank
you for taking the time for reading this.
I'm 6'6" and weigh about 190lbs. I have a lot of aches and pains from being
partially disabled from a fall I took at work. I had to have surgery years
ago and walking hurts. I've had to carry myself upperly a lot through this,
so I now have shoulder problems as well as a right hand that hurts
sometimes. I'm right handed, so I'm just trying to get you the info of where
I'm at.
I'm looking for a handgun that fits me (new/used..not sure), and you don't have problems finding
bullets for. I'm also looking for a shotgun (new/used...not sure either) just to keep in case of
emergency around the house and maybe hunting if I choose later on. I don't
have a lot of bucks to invest because I got downsized from my job. Any info
you could give me would be greatly appreciated. I live in Stone Mountain,
Georgia (Tucker, Ga) and would like to find someone nearby who could also
help me with the rules, how to take care of my weapons and some training. Thanks

Done Lurking

New members here. Live outside Jackson, California on the way to Kirkwood. We're mostly handgunners (one HD shotgun) and we've both had our CCW (a California rarity) for some 15 years. Compliments on your site. Clint

Hi, new member here from Utah. I first carried a gun at age 5 when I went "deer" hunting with my mother. My father and uncles went off by themselves on the real hunt and I was left with my mother and a .22 pistol, which she let me carry. Most likely unloaded, but at 5, you can't complain.

My wife and I got our CCW permits in March of 09.

I have been reloading both rifle and pistol for 30 years, so have done lots of shooting over the years.

Hello, i'm just joining THR, and am excited to be able to ask questions on gun issues that perplex me. From what I've read theres a lot I can learn here. I love all guns and have been shooting as long as I can remember (mostly target shooting and for fun). Recently I've been thinking about building a rifle and my ignorance in this area brought me here. Thank you for your insight.

Glock 17 9mm.

I'm just an avid gun collector. I believe in the right to carry arms.. I am also looking to purchase a new Glock 17 with an AAC pistol suppressor, just wondering if anyone out there has had any experience shooting one? I was also wondering if you need thread protectors for this type of suppressor and can this type of suppressor be transfered to other 9mm. as long as you have the proper barrel. Is the AAC better than Gemtech?

Hi folks,
Newbee here. I've been lurking for some time, collecting helpful information from the members. I figured it is time to join, and hopefully, make a contribution to the forum. I reload, hunt, and I am a fan of anything that goes "bang". A belated thank you for all those who unknowingly solved many of my gun related problems. Glad to be here. thanks..nobugs

Found this site while trying find insight into gun laws and self defense. I like to target shoot and would like to get into tactical competion. I live in Napa, Ca. I would like to meet other people in the area.

Hello, Im from FL, and so far thanks to THR users for being a help in Finding some information.

I just signed up yesterday. I'm trying to learn all I can about reloading. Mainly 9mm but if I am convinced to do it and am successful I would load other calibers also.
I have signed up for a short class on the reloading process at my LGS.
Will be asking advice on presses etc.

Barry
