Hello. I am from Louisiana, but am currently in WV in medical school. I've always loved guns ever since my buddy took me shooting when we were 12. I never grew up around a gun culture in my home, even though we had a 20ga and a 30/30. When I finally bought a good enough handgun that was inexpensive (SW40VE), the bug really got a hold of me. That was 2 years ago, since then, I've gotten 3 more guns, taken a lot of classes and have fired a lot of rounds.

I thought this was an interesting site. I shoot handguns .44 cal and larger, rifles 30 cal and larger and a lot of 22LR. I reload for accuracy and to get more bangs for my buck.

Hi

I'm new to the forum. I'm in Monroe, WA and just recently started reloading my own ammo. I found this forum today and it's already been a blessing to me.

The folks here are very kind and respond quickly.

Thanks for a cool new place to hang out. I hope to learn a bunch so I can help others too.

Cheers,
Mike

Greetings everyone,
I'm proud to have joined yesterday, and am looking forward to posting and the responses!
I live in California, although I feel that once I graduate and begin to make some real money, I will move somewhere with sane legislators and decent constituency... I have lived in Ca. since my beginning, and I have never seen or heard of such belligerent conduct and freedom-impingement by politicians and special interest groups... anyways, I'm studying marine transportation at the California Maritime Academy, and cannot wait to go to sea. I love cowboy action shooting, plinking, target shooting, and political philosophy.
Maybe someone can help me with the following project I've recently got myself in...

I just bought a Siamese Mauser action for about a hundred-bucks. Serial number 33316 type B, chamber type B, floor plate latch is on the front of the trigger-guard, and it has the numbers 732 under the receiver and on the left side of the magazine well. I don't know what caliber it is, although some mentioned it was a 8x52... I compared the bolt-face to the rim of a .45-70 casing, and the bolt-face seems to be a smidgen too small to accommodate the casing. My goal is to construct a nice guide-gun sized, bolt- actioned bear-gun. I'm thinking putting the action on a straight-gripped stock, adding an octagonal or semi-octagonal barrel no longer than twenty inches or so. Iron peep-sights, and a forward-mounted scope.
If anyone has any suggestions, comments, and recommendations to where I can find parts, accessories etc... please let me know. I'll post pictures soon.
Thanks.
Esteban Ugarte.

New guy here from CT. Been shooting for only about 4 years now, but I am an all-or-nothing hobbyist. Go to the range every chance I get, pending ammo and finances allow it. Started out with a Kimber Ultra Carry 1911 (since sold). Currently own the pistols listed in my sig, two of which were purchased in the last month. Looking forward to adding a bolt-action rifle (probably a Remington 700) as well as a full-size 1911 to the family ASAP. :)

Hi

Been a lurker for a while; guess I am official now. I am currently living in Fayetteville, AR and giving in to my interest in firearms . Lots of forum browsing and learning what I've neglected to learn over the past 28 years or so.

I'm new

I am new to this forum, from a small town in western Maine, and have been shooting since I was old enough. I have read a lot of gun forums and this one seems to be more informative than most so I joined. I have a love affair with firearms and my lovely and talented spouse is a close second. I own and shoot an eclectic mix of weapons and enjoy all of them. My latest project is a Sig Tac Two in .300 Winchester Magnum. I am trying to figure out optics. I want to try some long range shooting but other than what I have read don't know much about scopes and such as I have always been an iron sights guy. There is massive amounts of information out there about optics a lot of which seems to boil down to personal preference once you nail down the fundamentals.

Keep Shootin' and be safe

My primary interest is long range precision. My "pet" rifle is a custom 7mm Rem Mag. It's has a mauser action, 27" Hart bbl, 6-20x50 glass and a custom stock that rounds her out at 17 lbs. It's a great rifle, but no fun to lug around the woods. I just ordered a PSl that should be here soon. I have a healthy mix of shotguns, semi-autos rifles, bolt guns, revolvers, and semi-auto handguns. I'm into hunting, fishing, and anything to do with firearms.

Hello from Georgia

I am a new member and will be 72 yrs. young in about 3 wks. I have been shooting since I was 10 yrs old. My first gun was a Stevens single shot 22 that I got on my 10th birthday. I shoot weekly at my local gun range, mostly pistols. My interest is in WWII firearms, I have a M1 Garand, M1 Carbine, Remington 1903A4 and a Browning FN Hi Power taken from a German Officer in France and given to me by my father-in law, now deceased. I hope this hasn't been too boring to the members. Thanks

I think I goofed up. This post was meant for NEW GUY from Georgia in post above. Still in the learning process. New member here also. Just read your post and wanted to say hello. We have a good bit in common. I am also from Georgia, Johns Creek in north Fulton County and I am a life member of the NRA, member of GCO and have had a CCP since its inception which I think was when Zell Miller was governor. Good shooting and I hope you have a great day. By the way I want to kick myself for not buying a surplus 1911 from the DCM in the 1960's. They were selling for $17. I did buy a M1 Carbine for $17.50 and $2.50 shipping and a 1903A4 for about $17. Still trying to locate my original paper work on that one. Johnny

Just Shoot...Exercise Your Rights!
Hi, I'm Harlan, owner of Sagebrush, Ltd and SageOutfitters.com. We are a US manufacture of shooting and hunting products. Our retail website is www.sageoutfitters.com. We carry more than the products we produce, however, we are considering making a change. The change considered is carrying ONLY USA made products. What do you think?

My self and my family are very active in shooting and hunting. We compete in the Black Powder Cartridge Rifle sport and Muzzleloading. By muzzleloading I mean real muzzleloaders with are traditional side lock, patch and ball.

I am very serious about our Second Amendment Right and will speak my mind to keep our rights!

Hello all, I am a Disabled Veteran of Desert Storm. I have lived my whole life in and around guns. My whole family love to shoot and hunt. Killed my first deer at nine years old. I love to shoot and work on all types of weapons. I am a Life Member of the NRA, AGCA and NAHC. I also work on and develop websites as a hobby and it used to be my job. My favorite thing to do is help the local youths in our area who need help learning about firearms, safety and hunting.

Most people enjoy living, but if you don't get out and experience the outdoors and see what God has truly blessed us with then you are not really enjoying life at all.

TN

I'm new to the site but have been reading for a bit now. I'm an avid shooter and i'm getting into reloading all my ammo. I just got out of the navy about a year ago. I've been shooting and hunting since I can remember and grew up with guns. I'm currently trying to get an FFL here in TN so any suggestions on that or advise would be great! Just looking to learn as much as i can! This is a great site! Thanks for all the help in advance, I know this is the place to get it!

Hello everyone. I've been a recreational shooter for about 4 years. I love to practice and work on my shooting technique. Like many of you i'm a gear-head and seem to get wrapped up by my hobbies. (Which can be very expensive). I mean, have ya seen the price of a fishing lure lately?

Thanks 4 having me! -popo

I'm a new gun enthusiast. I was never really interested in them growing up, and it was just me, mom, and my sister anyway. But since getting married I've been recruited by my brother-in-laws, and now I've got a Ruger 10/22 carbine, Mossberg 500 20ga, and Savage 93 .22mag.

I'm interested in all types of firearms and sporting, and really haven't settled on what I like best, just yet. It's been mostly a matter of time and money so far, though I suppose that's true for anyone.

I also have an interest in tinkering, restoring, and manufacturing of firearms and accessories. I like working with my hands in my hobbies.

New user from Virginia

Hi all,

New to this forum, but a member of several others. USMC veteran and a gun enthusiast in general.

I own an old Marlin 39A and a Browning Autoloader in .22, a Mini-14, Colt and S&W wheelguns in .38, an old Colt 1908 in .25 ACP, and a Browning Hi-Power in 9mm. All of them are pre-1986.

I have just started reloading my own ammo, and am trying to get up to speed in that area. There is much to learn!

Greetings from KY

Hey all,

Been lurking for over a year now, guess I had to break the ice at some point and make a post. Man, I spend way too much time here almost daily, soaking in all the advice, learning and quite often laughing. Always liked guns, hunting and fishing, especially in my younger days at Morehead State Univ. Cave Run lake and the Daniel Boon National Forest provided great escapes and good excuse to cut class! Anyway, after getting caught up in career etc. for the last 20 years or so, my interest in firearms has been rekindled.

I've spent many enjoyable hours here and plan to keep on keepin on. Whew! finally got the first post behind me.

Hi from AK.

Hi everyone, new member here. My name is Chris, I'm prior military/LE. Never been much of a hunter though I've always enjoyed punching paper. I'm interested in getting into "tactical" competition. Being here in AK, it is inevitable that I will soon become a hunter for food anyway (I do love game meats of many varieties), though I'm not real interested in trophy hunting. I currently have fair selection of firearms in various styles, calibers, and types, though I've tried to keep it fairly cost effective i.e. biggest thing I have is .300 WM. I try to keep it simple with the calibers.
