Hello everyone. I have been a member for about a week now and have decided to introduce myself. My name is Morris, but I sign on as Moosie; I am a retired college professor. I have been a gun lover all my life. Besides the usual cap guns and six shooters of very early childhood, I got my first real "gun" when I was 9--a Daisy Red Rider, and a J.C. Stevens .22 when I was 12. I have hunted all my life since. I owned as many as 32 guns at one point before I realized that there was no way that I could shoot them all all the time. I was into fondling them and cleaning them as much as shooting. A divorce and hard times caused me to sell the majority of them, but I kept my reloading equipment and my favorites; Currently I have restricted myself the the following: an expensive .177 German air rifle; an 1892, Winchester in .44-40--I don't shoot it because it is too pretty; a.22 winchester rifle I inherited; Ruger 1V in .25-06--my favorite whitetail gun; a Model 70 in .308--my second favorite whitetail gun; a Model 70 in .243--pre-64 in near mint condition; an old Smith &Wesson 32-20 revolver; a Smith&Wesson .357 mag; a Smith & Wesson .500 mag; a Ruger Blackhawk in .44 mag; Beretta 92 in 9mm; and a Winchester 101 in .12 ga. I reload for all of them except the .32-20. I figure that this gives me enough variety of things to shoot and more than is necessary for the hunting I now restrict myself to. Mainly I hunt quail, dove, squirrel, and whitetail deer in Central South Texas. Occasionall we go hog hunting too. I used to shoot metalic silhouettes, but have gotten a little too shaky without a scope so gave that up. I have been reloading since the early 1970s and admit to being a bit of a perfectionist about the process--my wife says I am anal retentive about it, but I enjoy reloading as much as the shooting. I also enjoy golf, fishing, and cooking. I am glad to have found THR. I belong to several other forums, but this one seems best suited to my needs and interests so far. Thanks and keep up the good work.
