Howdy!

Well Howdy Fellers,
My first time on here, have been looking for a gun forum I'm comfortable with. Not so much content as in forum style. I'm a member of the ntractorclub.com and find this forum similar. Hope to make as many wonderful friends here as I have there. Come visit us some time, we'd be glad to have you. Fine bunch of folks over there.
Now to the gun part of my thread...thank you for your patience. I have a Hopkins & Allen Arms Co., top break, five shot, small frame, .38S&W, revolver with a Pat. date Dec. 8 98. Five digit Ser.#. It has a round barrel and is auto eject. I understand H&A burned and began the Forehand in 1899. I read that the H&A .38S&W Police Safety had a "unique" feature of the trigger having to be pulled all the way back for the hammer to strike the cartridge, same as our modern guns do, and that it came into production in 1899. My revolver has this "unique" feature yet it is H&A not Forehand MFG. by H&A. Can anyone tell me any more about this beautiful little weapon?

Hey!

First post/new here.
Some of you may know me from ArcheryTalk.
I've got a couple questions about a Stevens Shotgun my son took apart:uhoh:
Need some help gettin' the slide lock hooked up.....but I'll ask that question over in the SG forum.
Be seeing you.

Weeeellllll,
I thought I was in the general discussion area, but had a heck of a time finding ME when I returned. Guess I'll have to figure this forum out. One of the reasons I chose this one is because it seems a little easier to manage.
About me & my guns. I have a Husqvara 30.06, Henry .357/.38Spl Big Boy, Marlin 20ga mod 44 4 digits in ser#, Taurus J frame .38Spl that I carry, and of course the H&A .38S&W. I also have an Aguirre & Aranzabal Matador 12ga, but it doesn't shoot.
I have been shooting since I was about 4 under Dads' supervision and started going into the woods alone about 6 or 7 for squirrels. I'm not a big hunter, but I do love to shoot. I also like carrying a gun...always have. Not that I am afraid or that I am looking for trouble or that I think it makes me cool or that it makes me more of a man. I just like carrying a gun. I hope someone out there understands what I mean and can articulate it better.

Shadowman,
I am so new to this site that you may never read this, but here goes anyway. As to "how big is too big", with the right rig, say a shoulder holster and I highly recommend GALCO, a 1911 .45 auto is not too big. Don't think I would want to pack around a "Dirty Harry". I also have small hands and I carry a Taurus 5 shot J frame .38spl. It's not a Smith but about half the price, can handle +P ammo and the J frame fits my hand perfectly. If you can afford it, I would deffinately go with the Smith & Wesson but we can't always have what we want. Happy Trails, God Bless. John

Hello all. Another new member checking in. I'm a regular on a car forum and we have a small group of gun enthusiasts over there. One member mentioned this site so I thought I'd take a look. So far I really like it. I'm sure I'll be a regular from now on. Little about me, I live in Houston, Tx, 38 y/o and have a good assortment of hand guns and rifles. I love WWII guns and own a couple Mosin Nagants, M1 Garand, Mauser K98K, etc. I also like the newer stuff also with a Colt 6920 AR-15 and various 1911's, Beretta, S&W wheel guns etc. Hoping to find some locals that like to go shooting.

Hello from The Farm

I’m a Missouri Farmer who believes in God, Grass and Grit. I like my guns and I have a collection that has taken me 50 years to put together. I have Sig, S&W, Ruger, Benelli, Remington and Savage. I have a right to carry permit and I use it to protect my loved ones. I sleep with a double barrel shotgun beside my bed. We have noticed an increase of guys coming to the country for easy pickins but they find out different when they get here. There’s no quick response from the Police out here, so we that care of our own. In the country we learn early in life that God takes care of those who take care of themselves. We welcome all to our door, until we find out that they are up to no good and then we give them Hell. It doesn’t take long for them to find out what it means to have The Bull by the Horns. I’m really a nice guy, I do every thing I can to help someone in need but dam I hate it when someone tries to take what I’ve work so hard to get, whether it be a 2 legged varmint or a 4 legged varmint. To be honest I nail the 4 legged varmint more often and just run off the 2 legged varity.

It’s been a tough winter and I’m sure ready for spring.

Hi, Im a 25 year old mechanic from cincinnati. Didnt shoot a gun till last year. Rented a Glock 34? i think. The competition version of the 17. Bought a cheap .38 after that then stumbled onto a good deal for a S&W 686P. Looking to expand the collection more, not sure of what I want next, something other than another wheelgun maybe. The Glock was nice but I've always liked 1911's.

im a 24 year old famrer boy from england 1500 acre`s of grass and arable land of my own to play on plus other peoples land :) 8 guns in total .........and a lurcher

Hello all, I just joined this morning. Not much to tell about myself, I work for a living in the scrap metal business, I am a lifelong country boy, and if it shoots I own it, am planning to own it, or owned it at one time . I have a large Military surplus arms collection, as well as my ordinary rifles and shotguns, and a growing collection of original black powder cartridge rifles and reproduction front stuffers. I am into antique cars as well, 1925 Model T Ford , and a 1930 Model A among others and I have a collection of spring powered acoustic phonographs. I am not much of a computer guy, but I can be found on two other boards dealing with firearms . For fun I collect guns, shoot guns, clean guns, cast bullets, load ammunition, play my Victrola, tool around in my Model T, and smoke handrolled cigars of good quality. I am single and likely to remain that way as I am too old to change my evil ways now, or wanting to :) I hope to be able to spend some time here when I can, and good morning to all.
