Hello. I used to be into shooting in the early '90s, my friends and I used to go to commercial ranges. When they moved away it became a solitary pursuit and I lost interest.

Now I am in a new state and have have joined a local gun club, so it's fun again. I have a couple of revolvers from the old days, an SP 101 .22lr and a Colt King Cobra .357. I want to move into semi-autos. I will soon take a CCW course because this permit makes acquisition much easier.

A lot has changed in the intervening years, particularly the guns are more interesting, more ergonomic. There's also much more information instantly available via the internet and I am soaking it up. That's why I'm here.
 
Hello! New Guy from Virginia here. I've been lurking on this site for quite a while now and finally decided to join so I can contribute (hopefully) some words of wisdom every now and then. I prefer this site to many others because of the variety of content. Some sites are limited to the brand of guns and topics discussed while this site seems to cover just about everything at some time or another. I'm 63 and began my shooting career at about the age of 3 or 4 when my father and one of his Army buddies would take me with them to the local gravel pit and let me shoot some sort of 22 revolver while they did their thing with larger guns. When I had emptied my revolver shooting at rocks I had to wait till they came over and reloaded it for me to continue. (And they wonder why I have had a life-long interest in shooting.)
 
I am a little lost. I was trying to enter a new post or question. I have not found where it tells me how to do it. Can I please have some guidance in this area ?

new, just signed up, dont know much about yotes yet, but thats why im here. im in wisconsin, my day has a cabin in tipler, wi. i dont have many friends that hunt so i was hoping to meet some of ya here, go on some hunting trips and have some fun

Im Garrett 23 from central NY, mostly collect military weapons. shoot some highpower. Hunt large game, do alot of outdoor activity, ride motorcycle, make handmade knives, custom furniture and w/e else i set my mind to.. soon an E2 stock for my M-14.
I just bought a used L1A1 built on an imbel reciever off gunbroker and the chambering in the barrel is ****ed up, too big and swells the rear of the cases so bad that they wont extract,. so im looking for a new metric barrel for that, would prefer crome lined yet that really doesnt matter, any help with this would be very helpful., really dont wanna put another $200 into a gun thats only worth 600 so a cheap barrel replacement would be great to find, thanks.

Opoche from CT. Missing Maine. I collect military surplus firearms and cap and ball revolvers. I have myself a handful of newer style shooting irons as well. I mostly punch paper now, haven't hunted in years.

love long guns and pistols ,22-250,12 gauge,thunderbolt 45 long colt rifles, s&w model 19 357 mag 6 inch,camanche 45 lc /410 shot 10 inch barrel,ruger 22 auto,hi point 45acp jhp(love it love it) i reload for all these calibers ,plus 243. rifle, just ordered dies for my 45 acp it seems to like the win 230 gr jhp factory loads i bought, no problems at all with the hi point very accurate! out shoots all my buddys rugers and glocks. (sorrry)like h 380 ,bullseye,2400 and clays for most of my loads,using a lee reloading press and dies.hope to chat with some 45 acp reloaders soon,

Hello, I'm Jose. I'm from NC and I am actually in the process of getting my pistol permit and applying for cancel and carry. I enjoy shooting just about anything. Every once and a while I get with my buddy and go shoot the guns he has. I like shooting rifles but I seem to be more fond of pistols. Are there any recommendations to what would be a good first pistol? I've kind of had my eye on either a Glock or HK.

I'm Jamie, I just found this site not too long ago while looking for places to shoot in the Washington- Oregon area. Liked what I found and looked at some of the other topics on the main page. I am prior USMC, so yes, I can shoot the 500 yard line with iron sights and a loop sling. ; ) Glade to have finally found such an informative group of people.

Hello, all. My name is Mike and I joined because every time I look something up, I get sent here anyway. I figure I'll cut out the middle man. I recently purchased a Maverick 88 that you will see me asking questions about and I may be getting a 1911 tomorrow.

Other than that, I own a couple of pistols and two rifles (30-30 and .270).

I'm not a "gun nut", but I do enjoy shooting and the peace of mind gained by having the proper tools for home protection.

I was an MA in the Navy, I LOVE riding my motorcycles and I'm a Freemason, so other than firearms, I'm willing to chat about those things as well...

I look forward to learning and sharing on what looks like a well-kept little forum...

I also discovered this forum in a search for information and thought I'd join up. I have a small collection of guns made up of military and sporting guns from my family's past and as such are valued heirlooms; guns left to me by family friends and ones I've acquired over the years. I enjoy all the shooting sports, but I'm not a hunter- I have no argument with anyone who hunts, it's just not for me. I reload all that I shoot, and have a big interest in flintlock rifles and muskets, some of which I built from kits- a Jim Chambers kit is next on the agenda. I've restocked a few rifles and just now I'm trying to learn all I can about checkering. I've had a concealed weapons permit in NY state for about 40 years but don't often carry. My views are mostly liberal but I'm a firm supporter of our Second Amendment rights which confuses folks on both sides of those issues; however I recently discovered I'm not alone in this. I worked 35 years on a college campus near here and was a member of the Air Force Active and Reserve for 33 years, but now I'm retired and free to entertain myself. My other hobbies include photography, computer electronics, cars and motorcycles, antique outboard motors, old movies, opera, graphic arts (as a spectator- I have no such talents), history, books, etc. I also enjoy participating in forums, so I'll be "lurking".

Larrupin here, I have lurked here for years, found the answers to many a Google search lead me to THR but just hadn't registered. I have always been more of a reader than poster and I really appreciate all the information I have gathered here.

I love to shoot, reload, cowboy shoot, make my own gun leather etc.
