Hola all. After much prodding from a friend of mine I've finally wandered in. Currently living in Colorado. I'm a 6 year Navy vet with my armorer certs from a few companies and some formal gunsmithing training. Looking forward to picking up on new ideas and what not here.

Hey there!
My name is Brent, I live in Arizona, and I'm lucky enough to have a wife that is not only my best friend but also my shooting and reloading buddy! We are mostly interested in handgun target shooting for recreation, but I've been known to compete with semiautos and revolvers and hunt the occasional deer. My wife and I are both what I would consider "sheepdogs" the way that Gunsite defines it, protecting the flock and taking classes to be good at it.
I've been lurking on this site for a *long* time and finally decided to join - thank you for the opportunity!

Greetings to all at The High Road!

I've been reading long enough that I thought it would be a good idea to start contributing. I look forward to sharing detailed discussions and camaraderie with all. I'll see you in the forums!

Hey All,

TwistedPair is my old Navy call sign and refers to either network wiring or to what folks thought caused my attitude at times. I’ve retired from the Seabees and once upon a time did duty as Range Safety Officer and got to go through what little bit of arms repair training they allowed a reserve Seabee to attend. I’m a life NRA and WAC member.
Usually I’m set to “read only” but lately I find myself wanting to stop just hording ammo and get out shooting so I’m building up a room for reloading and repairs and this looks like a great place to float some ideas out there without getting completely crushed as a know nothing newb. Which I may well be when it comes to reloading….

A return after some years, and questions about Tennessee

Hi, folks. Back after about 10 years, and soon to move to East Tennessee. I would love some thoughts about the best place to be.

My gun history recently involved holding off a fellow who came at me with a bat. Now my MK40 is in evidence until he comes to trial. I may need a new one.

New or Used?

Hello folks!

I just found this forum a couple of days ago. A VERY refreshing change from some other forums!

I'm a retired L.E. Officer from Alaska, now living in East Texas. So, I'm not exactly new, but not used up either!

Shooting, handloading, hunting, traditional archery, knives, horses, old tractors, fine wines, and good food are my vices.

I'm looking forward to learning, 'cause if you're not learning, you're dying!

I have a running "battle" with one of my friends about "green" vs. "orange", so I went out and bought a red & gray one to go with my orange one just to mess with him.
On his last visit here I actually got him to lean up against my orange one! He immediately washed his hands, but I have pictures!

I hope this doesn't ruin our relationship:)

Hello all

I live in Virginia. I'm a naval officer. I used to own rifles, but now my collection is entirely handguns. I currently own a para .45 hi cap, glock 20 10mm, S&W .500 4 inch, 6 1/2 inch, and 8 3/8 inch. I'm pretty crazy about the big 500.

Noes needs a new trigger

I baught a new Neos just before Christmas. I have 16,400 rounds through it and the trigger is shot. I also have another one with only 400+ rounds through it and this trigger is shot also. Anyone else have these problems? The trigger pulls but the hammer wont fall. Any help out there?

Mea culpa you-a culpa

Hello, all good people of the High Road....I am new to this forum, but old in real life...not super old, just kinda old, but I don't feel especially old most times....

Only when I sleep, or get up, or when I walk, or talk, or try to lean over, or sit, or , well, you get the drift.

According to my profile, I like shooting bulls-eye with pistols, large-mouth bass fishing, guitar playing, and lots of other things I haven't even tried yet....self-taught in most of these pursuits , so I am probably full of bad habits, amongst other discusting things.

My spelling gets worse with every passing day, so bear with it, or correct it, I don't mind.

Anyway, I'm looking forward to being a law-abiding member of society, this society, of proud gun-owners and permitted carry folks.....yeah, right.

Eye am Out....

Name's Justin, from Detroit, MI.

I am incredibly fascinated by terminal ballistics, and like to think I possess a bit of knowledge about the subject (never enough knowledge, just a large accumulation).

I believe defensive firearm use is one tool among many. It is my personal belief that a person who carries a pistol for protection without knowledge of self defense is like an aspiring Formula One racer who has never even driven to the gas station.

I think that's it.

New here...

Retired Navy. It was "too cold" in boot camp (Great Lakes in January) when we were sposta shoot the gun so we didn't get to. Not really important to a shipboard mechanic, anyway. Spent a lot of time carrying a 1911, never really got to shoot it enough to be safe with it. Everything I know about guns I learned on my own, and I won't claim that everything I know is actually true.....
Wanted to add my 2c to a thread yesterday but I can't because I'm not signed in. Okay, wanted to sign in but I can't because I'm not a member. Okay, wanted to register but can't because of email problems.
Finally got that straightened out; I can post now but can't find that ^&(^% thread about cow stories. I hate getting old!

I mostly shoot and carry an old Smith 39-2 I bought used about 30 years ago. It may or may not be worn out; it doesn't matter as long as it shoots straighter than I can see. A ransom rest says the gun is fine; it's all me. I have proven, however, that I get better results with my own reloads than the cheap stuff I buy at Wally World. Haven't tried more expensive stuff.
I use a 10/22 for plinking and varmints. I also have a new CMP Garand. Well, it's new to ME! Haven't tried reloading for it yet; won't until I'm comfortable with the rifle.

Im James from South Carolina, i am a shooter and starting to do my own reloading. I own a Lee Challenger Breech Lock press. My guns are a Beretta 9000s 9mm, Sig Mosquito .22lr, Ruger Redhawk .44 mag, Taurus 669 .357 mag, Mossber 500A, Remington 7400 .270.

I'm Denny. Retired carpenter Superintendent. I hunt, fish, reload. I had a stroke in June 2008. I'm still able to do what I like, so life is good!

Hello

I lurked a while and now I have joined, mostly because I want to use your search feature. ;) I'm not an expert on anything, but I'll keep my eyes peeled for questions I might be able to answer. I have already enjoyed great benefit from this site, so thank you all and I look forward to returning the favor as best I can.

I'm a new member. I live in Idaho and currently have an Arsenal SLG-31 AK74 and a S&W Model 22a. I am looking to buy an AK underfolder, a Dragunov or PSL, a home defense shotgun (leaning towards Mossberg), a Ruger SR556, and an RPK. I'm a veteran of both the Air Force and Army and am currently a Correctional Officer. I'm also interested in buying ammo in bulk (goal is 10k rounds for each weapon).

Taking my son out shooting for the first time today hoping he'll enjoy as much as I do.

Another "newbie"

Greetings folks. :D

My wife and I have really developed a huge interest in pistols and self defense since an issue came up in September.

We both have our G.F.L. / Georgia Firearms License

Bought her a Smith & Wesson 642 J-frame 38-special. Thing weighs a ton, now we learn about "airweights" etc. Ok, live & learn.

Attended a fabulous one day firearms safety/self defense course at Talon Training Group in Tallahassee, FL. www.talontraininggroup.com

Talon Training Group also has great home defense vids on YouTube and other topics as well. http://www.youtube.com/user/talontraininggroup

Great guys. Police officers-trainers-still active duty.

Working to save up so I can get a Glock 19. Trying to decide on waiting on the Gen-4 to arrive or stay with Gen3 for now.

First next step - Get my two gun belts from Tucker out in Texas.
Second - "The Answer" tuckable holster / Kydex w/ leather lining--smooth and quiet.
Third step - Buy my Glock 19.

I am soooo looking forward to being able to CC.

Huge fan of YouTube channels:
Nutnfancy, Hickock45, Lima Life, Millerusaf, & Humans4targets2

For now we go shooting at "Shooters" in Columbus, GA or to Wild West Traders in Marietta, GA. I've seen where a new place is opening in Newnan, GA summer of 2010.

To pay for these hopes I work for Nord Gear Corporation - an industrial sales job. We make gearmotors for all kinds of machines.

Two kids in college.

Want to start our journey into camping this spring.

Looking forward to learning more from this great community!

Hello! It is good to be a member.

I often use Web searches to obtain answers or information on many firearm-related issues I have. After finding this forum and using the information I have gleaned from it numerous times, I finally decided to join. Maybe guilt let me do it.

Welcome to the new members. I hope that you find THR can be an online community you'll be happy being part of. Our mission here is to provide an online firearms community where the members are civil to one another instead of the all too often seen minor thuggishness found elsewhere. If you disagree with someone we encourage mature debate, but we tell folks that you can disagree without being disagreeable. People here come from all walks of life and all sorts of personal philosophies, but we all are shooting enthusiasts and supporters of RKBA. In that respect we're all comrades in the struggle to show the rest of the world that the average gun owner is responsible and reasonable instead of the misanthropes that Antis tell everyone we are.

Read the stickies at the top of the various forums. General has several, including an excellent open thread on civility at THR and a list of acronyms and terms for folks who weren't born with a universal jargon translator in their heads.

We can't answer questions or provide help in this thread, but if you have a pistol question the folks in Handguns can help, rifles in Rifle, shotguns in Shotgun and so on.

Enjoy, and WELCOME.

I am not very good at this but I will try it. I am one of those guys that cling to his guns and religion. The Democrats can keep their change and I’ll keep my guns. I don’t trust the Democrats or the Republicans but I do love the U.S. Constitution. I love firearms and I like talking about Survivalist stuff. I have worked in Manufacturing since I was 20. I currently work in a Heat Treat Department for my Employer. That’s it, it’s all I have got.:D

Hi,
My real name is Dennis,
My father made the Bowers Carbine back in the 60's. I was a Navy armorer for 15 years, retired, saw what was happening;then moved to NZ. My love is the the US military guns and if i couldn't buy them (no matter what the cost, since I lived in WA) I made them from scratch.
I've spend 20 years dealing with ATF and know most of them on first name basis, and made a few friends. Its not "you against the ATF" they will help you; all it takes is asking.

God bless and help you over Obama

Hi, Marius here.

I live in South Africa (where anti-firearm legislation prevents anyone but the real fanatics from owning more than two self-defence type firearms) and shoot mainly handguns. I own Daewoo DP51, which I use for personal protection and as my sidearm in the security field. I'm a CPO, and therefore my shooting background is from a tactical perspective.

Great forum, keep it up.

New to THR

Hey all,

New member here, just moved to Fort Worth. Orginally from Fort Smith, AR and absolutely love military rifles and clones. I enjoy tinkering around with many different styles and never pass up a chance to go to the range. I look forward to chatting with everyone and helping out, when I can. Thanks for reading.
