Hi All,
I'm newly registered here, but have been browsing around on this forum for most of this summer. 80% of the time I searched for gun-related topics on Google, THR showed up, so I now finally decided to sign up here.
I'm originally from Europe (I'm in my early 20s now), so I know what it is to have no rights of self defense. Last week I joined the NRA :)
I love the guns from the old West, so my first gun was a Henry Golden Boy (.22LR) and 2 weeks ago I bought a Heritage Arms Rough Rider (.22LR/.22Mag), and I couldn't be happier! Every week or every other week I try to make it to the outdoor shooting range. I took my fiancee (who still lives in Europe, but came to visit) to the range, and she is getting almost as much into guns and the right to bear arms as I am.

I'm looking forward to learning more from everyone on this forum, especially as an active member now! And this is the longest introduction of myself I've ever given.

Hi.

Just joined the forum. I purchased a Ruger Security Six yesterday and went shooting today. Lots of fun. I went through about 200 rounds of ammo, so it was a very good day!

Hi;

Ernie here from FL, retired fire captain and USN reservist, avid 1911 shooter, and I think that a weapon should have a combination of wood and steel. (guess I am dating myself) I hope I never see a world without a 1911 and an M-14.

Hello, My name is Gaelic, I'm a petite retired female. Several years ago I took some lessons at a shooting site. It was very nice. They showed us many styles of guns, how to take them apart/put back together. After that, I just never seemed to have the time or money to go further. Now that I'm retired I called the shop. I will be going in for the same training October 3rd. At the time of shooting practice I had a very hard time using my thumb to shoot the gun. I'm looking for suggestions on a easy to handle and use handgun to keep in my apartment and eventually brave enough to carry. Any help is appreciated.

Welcome to The High Road, I hope you find your interactions with the membership enjoyable. The community tends to be in the majority male, something we would love to rectify, so expect a lot of ewncouragement. We do welcome ladies and try to help them out as best we can. Some of our more senior, respected members such as Pax and Tamara are Ladies, so sexism isn't tolerated.

As this thread is for new member introductions only, I suggest you start a new thread in the general handgun discussion subforum, giving as much detail as possible as to the training you have had, the types of guns you have shot, any physical limitations you have and any preferences you have. You will be surprised at the number of replies and a fair few will actually be intelligent and informed.

hello all I'm Cliff from Lethbridge Alberta Canada. I've been a gun nut since I was about 2 my parents tryied to keep me and any firearms far apart but they took me and my brother camping in Banff nearly every weekend. So I found a love of nature.Got into some pretty hairy disagrements with the folks as a teen and left home a bit young, then went and got married while I've always loved guns I had to much on my plate to ever just take the time to get some. And here we are today my oldest kid is 18 and my youngest is 12with two squished in between I finally own my first firearm a T/C Venture in the 308. Hunted with a borrowed 243 last year and both deer (I hit right through the heart) up and bounded away some 15-30 yards into the bush with no snow for tracking hoping the 308 stops them in there tracks

Hey, I'm a new guy.

I started shooting along time ago, cuz my daddy raised me right. I earned my "Distinguished Expert" from the Department of Civilian Marksmanship when I was 14. I did 17 years in Law Enforcement and was forced out of that because of agency politics. Currently an Ironworker. Most of my shooting is done right in my "backyard" where i can shoot up to 300 yards. We hunt hogs all year round because they tear up our property and deer when the season rolls around.

Hello from NC............

Hello from NC. I've been messing with guns 20+ years and enjoy target shooting as well as working on them. I'm on a few other forums and enjoy all of them. Great neighborhood to be in. I look forward to learning new things as well as helping others with my 2 cents worth where I can. :)

I've been using THR to further my own education for quite a while now, so i might as well get into the mix. I really like objective (at least as objective as I can be, everyone has some biased opinion) discussion about everything firearms and this is the place for that. I'll never tell you what is better, just what i prefer and why.

Been a long time

I apologize for not being around. Been busy with my group here. I am back to catch up on issues and information. This is indeed a valuable site with great people and information. Checking in.

Hey, ya'll, new here but long time to shooting. If any were wondering Cobra comes from the glory days' and geezer cause my kids figure I was born shortly after the creation of dirt. Been shooting one thing and another since I got first rifle for christmas when I was 10. 22 cal. Browning tbolt that I still have. Hope to have lots of conversations about things that go bang.

Bonjour,

I come from France.
I have 40 years old. I own guns since the legal age to own guns in France (18 for civilians rifles and 21 for military rifles).
I shoot the french "High power" national challenge (200m military rifles and 25m military hand guns).
I love to practice "pin shooting". I would like to do IPSC, sadly I have no time to do everything.
I'm reloading 90% of my ammos due the french laws about ammunitions and because it's cheaper.
My two favorites calibers are 9mm Para and .223.

greetings from the desert

i'm new here, just wanted to introduce myself. 24 year old, in the army, love to shoot. i'm interested in rifles, handguns, reloading, tactical training, hunting and pretty much anything gun-related. always looking for new info from somebody who knows more than i do.

Looking for civil discussion

I am a shooter who is tired of the hatred and vitriol both gun-lovers and gun-haters direct at one another and looking for some civil discussion. I've posted an Author Query in General Discussion and hope you'll take a look.

Hello,

My name is Matt and I'm from Upstate NY (Albany area). I just purchased my first firearm about a month ago. It was a Remington 597. Great little gun. I'm currently in the process of getting my pistol permit and am looking at possibly picking up a Remington 870 in the near future.

Jake

Hi, I'm Jake, 29 years old & married to a pretty supportive wife (although she was unhappy that a Savage MKII-F followed me home from Wal-Mart last night); currently residing in NW Arkansas. Grew up around guns and with a health respect for nature since my Dad was a California DF&G wildlife area manager who put me through his hunter safety class in 6th grade. Summer rarely found me without an old Benjamin pump air gun or .22 from then till I left for college. I had little to no interest in guns or politics until about a decade later and now I love 'em both. 29 years old now and just trying to get back into hunting.

Hi, I'm Mike. I'm retired from the HVAC and electrical business. I'm from the central part of Arkansas. Married for 47 yrs, two kids and four grandkids. I love guns and have a few handguns, a few rifles and a few shotguns. My son and two grandsons love to go out to our hunting lease and shoot.
Maybe I can be of assistance here otherwise I'll just hang around and look.
