Raised anti-gun looking for answers.
Hi. I am a noob here, though an oldfag when it comes to other forums. I am f/23/tx, I was raised by rabid liberal atheists. I agree with them about 95% of the time, but I was raised anti-gun and thanks to my boyfriend of almost two years, I've become, to an extent, a convert on that matter. I am pro-gun in some circumstances and through my boyfriend have been learning much about them. I favor the Second Amendment, and understand the reasoning behind the necessity to possess arms to defend oneself and fam, or hunt for food in a survival situation. But that's about as far as I have gotten.
I am here, at the moment, for one reason, which is to ask your help in pointing me in the right direction. My boyfriend is buying a suppressor and I am somewhat frightened by the prospect, despite the fact that my boyfriend is a wonderful man, slow to temper and very cautious and responsible. I wish to know more about 1. gun hobbies and what is "too far" with gun modification 2. modifiers (silencers) and the laws and regulations regarding such 3. the gun hobby mentality and what kind of factors play into it. I love my boyfriend but he is a quiet man that keeps a lot to himself. I am here with an OPEN MIND hence the user name, and have no desire to argue or debate anyone. I do not know enough about guns to argue with anyone, really, and will keep that in mind.
I'm banking on my more than 13 years of forum experience and faith to help me determine quickly which ones of you are sane and fullminded* about the subject of gun regulation. I hope that those who are will help me in my quest to learn more. Mods and regulars, my bf himself recommended this forum, and if you all could b so gracious as to point this noob in the direction of threads with topics one through three so that I may ask on-topic questions, and be advised as to where and when to start my own topics, I would be ever grateful.
TLDR; libby pinkie heathen trying to learn more about guns to understand so. any help would be hot.
*fullminded: knowledgeable about a topic; able to take a bias towards a subject based upon extensive study of both sides of the debate and able to accurately relay both sides with accuracy.
