Hello from Switzerland

Hello,

I'm a swiss collector living in french speaking part of Switzerland. We have guns friendly laws for buying, but not for bearing guns... That's the reason why I like your Second amendment.

Bye!

Hello from Texas

Been reading THR for some time now. While I'm more active in handgun sports, I also enjoy long gun and shotgun hunting.

Hi !i love long range shooting! i just picked up a custom made 30.06 rifle with a 700 action! a custom barrel with a 1:10 an 26" long barrel! it had the works done to it! and then they topped it off with a Hi-lux undial scope!....what i have been shooting is a....... Hello from Northwest GA

My name is Josh. I've been shooting for the majority of my life thanks to my Dad who is an avid collector/shooter. I've got Glock's, SIGS, Kimber's, Walther's, S&W's, a Kel Tec and Savage's. Each of them get used often. I look forward to chatting with all.

I guess I have been "Lurking" long enough. I first shot about 7-8 different rifles and maybe 10 different pistols on March 27th of this year. Prior to that I had begun to read various Gun magazines and eventually transitioned to the interwebs for more info in an attempt to acclimate myself to the world of things that go bang. In this short time I have acquired my concealed carry permit and now own a GSG .22, a Glock 23, and most recently a Springfield Range Officer in .45. I am thrilled by it all and try to shoot at least 4-5 times a month. The one question I have is, how do I post a new thread so that I can have some questions answered about my Range Officer? The rear sight loosened to the point where i just took it off after 200 rounds!! Thanks everyone for all the great info. I dont have a lot of people i can talk to about my new interest and the High Road has been invaluable in learning about the best way to go.

Hi,
I live in Olathe, KS (KC metro area) and have enjoyed shooting for 50 years now. Competed at Camp Perry many times in pistol and the commemorative rifle matches. Love going there with a bunch of knucklehead friends from PA that got me into competitive shooting. I also enjoy trap, sporting clays, bird hunting, prairie dog shooting, archery, black powder guns and canons, military rifles,... If it goes bang, I've probably shot it... except the crew-served stuff...not that I wouldn't like to!! Of all the forums I've come across, this looks like it has some great people who post interesting topics. I look forward to posting and reading!

New guy here.

Hello everyone, I have been lurking around this board and calguns.net for a while and thought I might introduce myself.

I recently went to a local shooting range for my bachelor party and had a BLAST with my groomsmen. Since that day, I got the bug. I am proud to write that I only have 3 more days till I can go pick up my first gun. I purchased a Beretta 92fs and am thrilled to finally join the prestigious community of 2nd ammendment upholding citizens (in California, no less).

I must say that I have been trolling around internet forums for many years and have never found a more mature, civilized, and well spoken user base at any other public board (in general, of course).

I am shooting from down here in southern California. It is great to be here and I look forward to getting to know everyone.

Hi everyone, been on here for sometime, but just never had the chance to introduce myself. The first weapon I shot was a Sig 226 handgun at my uncle's place in Maryland when I was 9. I got back into shooting firearms when I was 15-16 when some of my friends moved down to southern Il. and invited me down for a clay pigeon shoot. Since then i've bought my first rifle, restocked it, reblued it and I'm looking to become a gunsmith (must move out of Crook County Il. first!) Looking forward to move to Arizona sometime next year for better freedoms than the plutocracy of Illinois.

Good Intro

Yeah I'm a California gun owner myself. Latest buys Springfield Armory XD 5" bbl Tactical model(.45ACP). Also got a Ruger MKIII 6" standard bbl (.22LR). Next buy is the Mossberg Night Train in 308Win; paper punching from 300 yards. Got an old Mossberg 22LR, J.C. Higgins 270Win (FN Machined), and a Mossberg 500 pump with 20" bbl.
Was looking into meeting people at local ranges, for good old fun; or bragging rights. Hahahaha, well if interested let me know; and any other firearms enthusiast. Out there.
I myself am looking to get into entry/open level competition. I'm close to Lytle Creek, Bee Canyon, and Magnum Gun Range in Riverside, CA.
Also want to do NRA competition; son, and I are active members.
Like I said anyone's invited; western Riverside county CA.

In your opinion low price bolt gun packages. Mossberg Night Train, or the Savage Axis; in 308Win?
Any advice would be helpful.
Thanks
Sorry THR still learning.

Hello, my name is Pat, couple of guys like to call me Troll sort of a nick name I think. My lifelong dream has been to become a crusty old know it all gun crank. I think I've got a pretty good start. I have been vigorously collecting opinions on pretty much anything that shoots for about 45 years. Some of them actually based on fact. I'm a veteran 6 years reserve, 4 years active Air Force, no experience with high speed low drag, my job was very boring I was a desk pogue paper shuffler. Got out shortly after Desert Shield/Storm. combat communications/ forward air control post TAC. Automatics come in three types 1911,GP HighPower,Glock , a bolt gun is a Krag, Springfield , Mauser or SMLE, a battle rifle is a M-14, M1A, M1 Garand, FN FAL, M16 if you don't have anything else. I have lots more opinions but you get the idea. I have little patience for interservice rivalry, I have friends and family in every branch except Coasties I think. I seem to have an annoying way of expressing my self but, I'm working on it.

Hello All,

Retired Army, working for Fed as "dedicated civil servant." CCW everywhere legal (work in DC and no POW in Fed facility, so no CCW there).

I finally have the time to begin enjoying weekends and evenings, so I've begun to expand my horizons on firearms. I'm interested in C&Rs that are shooters, understand the value of 22's for honing basic marksmanship skills, and look forward to learning from the folks in the forums. I've already spent a few months lurking around this and other forums and appreciate the willingness to share information and experience.

Hi I'm Carlo a new member from Italy.
Really liked to read your post in the past few days so I decided to join the community.
Thank you for the comprehension you will show in understanding my English:)
Since a short time I decided to join again the shooting range as I did in my 20', and bought a 22lr Weihrauch bolt action rifle, with a Meopta 3/9-42 optics. Now is time to join a larger caliber rifle, .308 or so, but still attract by some Enfield or Carl Gustav, big Amletic doubt!
In Italy rifles and cartridges are so expensive, and i will shoot with the small caliber for some more time, but I will learn lot of things following your forum...

Hello, members:

Joined today after reading several hours of posts in the past weeks as I made decisions relating to becoming a gun owner and moving forward to a CPL in Michigan. I've seen the great variety of people here as an asset to the strength of this group, and the way that the 'high road' acts as a model for supportive information-sharing rather than opinion-slogging (although the opinions are valuable and sometimes entertaining).

I've purchased two weapons: a Remington 870 Express 20 gauge and a Hi Point C9 (because I had a budget and wanted new-with-warranty instead of something used). Truth is, I wasn't sure I'd keep the handgun ... might've just kept the shotgun and sold the C9. But I really, really love shooting the pistol, and am planning on purchasing a couple more (a revolver for HD and a smaller piece to carry).

I won't be able to carry every day because I work for a university, but I would if I could. Took the CPL course last week and applied for my permit yesterday.

My politics? Liberal, yeah. I believe that our compassion for the weaker segments of our society is a direct reflection of our moral character. Can't stand racism, sexism, any -ism, or men who are anything other than gentle to women and children.

I Listen to NPR (and I listen to country, and classical, and lots of rock'n'roll).

Because I'm in my late 50s (when the heck did THAT happen?) and not getting any stronger, I want to be able to protect myself and my family.

Gun ownership is the most profound decision I've made since I decided to have children. I pray I never have to touch a weapon for anything other than target practice.

Thanks for keeping this lively and mature community alive and well. I'll be adding my $0.02 from time-to-time, but I have a lot to learn before I start dispensing any gun wisdom.

Peace,

-T

Hello!

Hello everyone!

I am a member over at PAFOA.org who is a long-time reader of THR, first time poster.

It is good to see such a great resource out there for firearm owners! My main purpose of joining the sight is to meet people who enjoy writing about firearms, fishing, hunting and the second amendment. ReelLoad.com is looking for writers and contributors to add content to a new online magazine for sportsmen.

I look forward to engaging conversations and discussions with the high road community!

ML Enthusiast Joining the Club

Hello All-
My interest in firearms is with muzzleloading. I'm hoping to find suggestions with loads and powder types, particularly with the rifles that I own, as well as swap stories, opinions, and experiences with others.
I'm not exclusive to ML though. I still have and shoot with my first rifle: a Marlin 795 .22lr auto loader. It is frequently the favorite for plinking amongst my family when we take trips to the range. I guess some just don't have the patience to work a ML

So it was decided! All I had to do was ask permission of the SO. . .

I prepared for a heated battle. I went over the discussion time and again in my head. For days I perfected my logic-fu. First words out of her mouth: "Can I have a GLOCK?!"

You are blessed; she's a keeper!

Hello everyone...I am a 38 y/o woman who inherited a Beretta 380 and a 38 Special CTG. This past weekend my older brother took me to a shooting range where I had the pleasure of firing off a few rounds for the first time. What an amazing feeling! The Beretta has a bit of a kick to it, but the 38 was rather nice to handle and fairly easy to shoot. I am looking for something a little more ladylike and less bulky. Any suggestions??? I would like to post my 380 to find its value...any suggestions as to what thread I might post this paricular piece to?? Thank for the advice, in advance

New member, James, not a rifle pro, recently purchased a used Howa 22.250. Stamped on top of the chamber is Remington 22.250. Does this mean Howa manufactured to Reminton specs?

Yes, the cartridge was developed by Remington, thus it's called the Rem 22-250.
So any manufacturer can chamber that but they must include the full name on the barrel so you know exactly what cartridge fits the chamber. It's bad for morale if people put the wrong cartridge in and it blows up.
Enjoy it! That's a sweet gun and cartridge.
