My user name is the real one; I am the owner and CEO of Tactical Immersion a tactical training company that specializes in firearms and tactics training services. I spent 10 years in the US Army as an Infantryman, NCO, and TF-SARG advanced weapons and marksmanship instructor, with two deployments to Iraq (2004-2005 and 2008). I am being medically retired due to injuries sustained during my last deployment. I am here to discuss issues, network with like minded people and provide training opportunities for members of the forum.

names Brian, live in east tennessee. been into guns since a kid, however grew up in a city where they were a no no. now i spread my wings out in the country shooting almost daily. i like black guns as a rule but as time passes, and the clock ticks im liking where ive settled in the land of 1911's and wheel guns are starting to appeal.. age happens.
 
Newbie to THR

Hi. I'm Vern. I'm a lifetime outdoorsman, born and raised in Montana. While in the Air Force I was on a rifle team, and later, on a pistol team. I used to do a lot of hunting, but now that I'm older, those hills have become awfully steep. I still do a lot of fishing here in Montana. With the bears, mountain lions and two-legged squirrels we have in this area, I always pack at least a 9mm, but always a .44 Magnum in grizzly country (which is just a few miles south of where I live). I have several black-powder weapons, and enjoy just about any aspect of gun shooting or collecting.

I just found your forum searching for information about disassembling a Beretta A390. I found a thread describing a problem with the A390 Gas Check valve that was most informative. I also own an older Beretta 680 Combo Trap gun that I enjoy shooting periodically.

My name is Jake Scott. I'm 27 years old, and I hail from western North Carolina. Ive been what seems to be called a lurker on the site for a few months now. I dont post a whole lot, but I enjoy reading what like minded people have to say. My interests lay mostly in large frame revolvers and 1911's in the sidearm arena, and Winchester model 70's (especially pre-64's). I'm becoming increasingly interested in the AR platform, though I dont really know enough about them to make many informed comments. I reload, which is a pastime I enjoy second only to shooting. I have some very strong opinions about these subjects, but I try to remain as open minded as possible.

Hi! I am in upstate South Carolina. Shot/hunted very little when I was younger, but I guess middle age has affected me and I now have a huge gun bug! Bought a S&W642 last month, and a RugerSR9C today! Love going out and target shooting, and have plans to get my CWP asap.

Hello. New to the site. Born and raised on the right coast, now on the left. Not surprisingly, liberal in many of my views, but a per-issue guy. So left coast, left wing (moderate really) and left handed. This seems like a pretty inclusive bunch. Hope so.
Long a fan of range shooting. .22 LR when I was a kid, handguns for the past 10. But still consider myself a newbie and have a lot to learn.

My name is Tony and I'm new here.

Grew up with my parents not allowing me to play with toy guns at all... though when I got my sweet Huffy I rode to the dollar store and got a sweet cap gun revolver:D

Kidding aside, I never really thought much about guns aside from the mechanical aspects of them really interest me... I'm an automotive technician and Jeep guy so that would make sense.

A buddy from work took me and my wife to the local range, and we both had a blast!

She shot a 4.25" XDM 9mm and did really well!

I shot about 10 different guns over the course of about 2 months so I could find what I really liked... I found that the 1911s were comfortable, and I also found that the lightweight ones I sucked with. I liked the XDM series of pistols, but I like the manual thumb safety on the 1911s, and the narrow width for eventual CCW.

I ended up saving paychecks and got a Colt 1911 Commander.. and love it!

I've gotten to take the wife to the range once to at least make sure she's proficient with shooting it, though she prefers the recoil of a 9mm.

I WOULD have been going with her more since then, but we found out she's pregnant and we have a little one on the way!:D Some time after late July she'll be getting back to shooting, until then I'm going to be taking classes to get my CCW in Ohio hopefully some time in January.

I also hope to be acquiring a polymer 9mm(maybe M&P9), a .22lr target pistol, and some kind of neat cowboy revolver in .357 to have a well rounded collection to have multiple toys to shoot for introducing new shooters to the sport(my friend from work did this, he brought along a Kimber 1911, a Desert Eagle .45, a CZ .40, Baby Eagle 9mm + .22 conversion for it, and some oddball .32ACP pistol which he bought just because it was super cheap). Having so many different guns to shoot was really nice to find out how each caliber "felt"... and the Baby Eagle illustrated how much difference that firearm weight plays in felt recoil.


Also I bought a decent condition M91/30 Mosin Nagant, which I've cleaned up, but haven't gotten a chance to shoot yet... hope to be buying a case of ammo for it with my next paycheck.
 
New guy here from up in the "Live Free or Die" state. I am pleased to be a new member as this seems to be a good site from what I've seen so far.

Howdy, not originally from NY, but for now here I am. I like just about anything with a trigger except crossbows and guns that look like they take batteries. I'm mostly into plain "good ole boys" firearms but lean towards the old war horses. I found this message board as I am interested in building a scout rifle. I hope to share some stories, gain some knowledge, and have a laugh or two all in the effort to pass on the tradition of firearms use and ownership to my children and grandchildren. My wife of 23 yrs loves to shoot as well as my father-in law is a double distinguished Marine shooter who retired in 75.
 
New Member!

New to the forum, but certainly not firearms.
I have been toying with the idea of building a SC .25-06, to match my SC .30-06, from a 03-a3 receiver.

Fell in love with a .25 that my dad had built while he was stationed at Ft. Hood back in the early 70's, but a couple years back he asked me to bring it up to VA during a visit to trade it for a .30-06... You can fill in the rest.

As I have been trying to find out more information on this process, I have discovered that it was a challenge to locate a decent set-up without being saddled with an extra .30 barrel. So this is part of my story, I'll fill in the rest in my profile.

Finally, I'll be zipping between the Black Powder, Shotgun & Rifle sub-forums to feed my firearm addiction.

Is there a marketplace within this forum that I haven't found?

Hi everybody!

Grew up in Queens NY. Shot for the first time with a .22 rifle at an 8th grade dude ranch field trip. Two years later, earned Rifle Shooting Merit Badge and won the Bucklin Marksmanship Medal at Camp Yawgoog in RI. Won a Winchester lever action .22 as well but shot it only once. Pity.

Fast forward about two decades when I moved to the Los Angeles area for a change of pace. Before I knew it I met a woman, married her and had a little girl with her. Change of pace indeed!

'twas my brother-in-law that got me shooting his XD, and so I rediscovered shooting. Been lurking in the forums (lots of time spent here) reading a much as I could about handguns. Fell in with a fun group of handgun husbands and did more shooting, read lots of Mas Ayoob, listened to lots of Gun Rights Radio Podcasts, watched lots of Rob Pincus, Dave Spaulding and the Magpul brothers.

And today, I'm the proud future owner of a Glock 19 Gen 3 (which is in day 3 of a 10 day state mandated waiting period, after which, it shall be mine!). To bide my time till then, the UPS man will deliver a 10lb box in a few days filled with 300 rounds of 9mm (including my first hollow points--Gold Dots!) Hogue grip, Vickers extended mag catch, NY 1 trigger, 3.5 connector, Glock tool, Glock mat, and Fobus holster. The sights, weapon light, extra mags, mag holder, targets and stands will have to wait till next pay period.

What else? Cleaning kit? Nah, Glocks don't need those. Besides, gotta save money somewhere, right?

Anyways, glad to be taking the High Road with you all. Looking forward to it.

I'm a new member also new to this forum thing and handguns I like semiautos don't like revolvers just got a gen3 glock19 compensated pistol gunna use it for personal carry want to get some rounds through it and get use to shooting it any advice u could give on holsters and break in ammo and carry ammo would be appreciated thanks alot.
