Hi,

Old shooter living in Georgia. U.S. Navy from 1965 to 1978. Per signature, NRA Certified Instructor. Not retired (yet) - working for a computer manufacturer. Been a shooter since Boy Scouts. Like to take pictures too.

Looks like a nice place to visit. Will probably read a lot, post a little.

I hope I will be able to contribute.

Jerry

Greetings everyone! Longtime shooter and gun owner and I found this site while researching some 19th Century weapons I recently acquired, seemed like a good fit so I joined. I expect to be helped by and helpful to this group. As you might tell by my forum name I am also a motorcycle rider, but that is a completely different story.

New Guy

Hi guys, I'm a newbie, just retired, former airborne Marine. Interested in 1911 platforms. Firearms include Marlin 22, Remington 870, Belgian Hi Power, and new Colt Commander. Love the advice and expertise here

I've been running across THR on several searches recently since I'm looking into doing some reloading, and many of my searches have brought me here. It's time to start buying bullets, powder & primers, so I wanted to come here and see what kind of advice I can find. The problem is that I can't seem to get off this site. There's just too much good stuff to read.

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to introduce myself. I've had my springfield XD for a while, as well as my concealed carry permit, but haven't done nearly as much shooting as I should be doing. I just built my first AR and plan on spending a lot more time leaning about guns and shooting. Here are a few pics,

Hello

Hi I am a new member. Im just getting into guns. I have a Mosin 91/30. looking to get a small carry gun soon. Glad i was able to find a community like this with this wealth of info all in one place.

Hi I am a new guy, gee that is what this thread is for right? I got my interest in firearms as a youth, not only in hand held firearms but howitzers, cannons, motars just about anything that fired a projectile. I fired my first firearm in the Boy Scouts, it was a flintlock muzzle loader, I was hooked! I was not allowed to own anything more powerful than a cap gun until I joined the Marine Corps. Once out on my own I was free to purchase whatever I pleased. When I got married and the kids started showing up, havent figured how that happend, but anyway. My wife made me agree to not own a handgun until my youngest was 18. Like a good husband I complied with the bosses wishes. I waited until the youngest was 20 and now I am buying the guns of my dreams. I retired from the Corps after 22 years and now volunteer much of my time with the Boy Scouts. I am an NRA Distinguished Lifetime Memeber, also an NRA certified instructor for Pistol, Rifle, Shotgun, Muzzle Loading Rifle and a RSO. I am also a National Camp School qualified Shooting Sports Director, I am one of the shooting sports directors at the local Boy Scout camp and I love teaching the boys proper firearms safety and marksmanship techniques. I am an avid hunter, I will find just about any excuse to spend a day in the woods with my favorite deer rifle. I enjoy shooting all of my firearms, but my current favorite is the FNP-9 by FNH, what a great shooting gun. I would love to get my hands on a WWII M1911 but they are rediculously overpriced, another "Dream gun" is the M1 Garand. I don't want just any old M1, I want a nice one, since I am eligible to purchase from the CMP I think I will save my change and get one of their higher end M1's. Not to many guns I do not like, like I said if it fires a projectile it has my interest. Love the smell of gunpowder in the morning, or anytime for that matter.

Hi, I'm from Southern Indiana. My grandfather has a 275-acre farm that lies right along the Ohio River. I've harvested several nice whitetails on the riverbottom farm that's been in the family since 1922. My Dad was travelling around shooting Pistol competitions including the Masters, while I was growing up. I have many golden memories of my Dad taking me out in the woods when I was 9 years old on up. We would sit and wait for movement. I saw him kill several coyotes by just waiting like that. I'm 34 now, with 4 whitetails on the wall; the biggest is 130 inches. I dream of a DIY mule deer hunt around the missouri breaks in Montana one day. I already have maps of all the public land along the Missouri River around the Breaks and Fort Peck Lake. My interests lie in Whitetail hunting with modern firearms and muzzleloader; and I love the thrill of calling a big Eastern Coyote in, and taking him out with a 25-06 85 grain ballistic tip. But every time I see a photo of a trophy mule deer, It makes me want to go out west even more. I've had about 6 hunts out west but they were either prairie doggin or predator hunting. I always research before I make a purchase. It seems like THR has given me the most information when I research forums for reviews on guns, scopes, ammo, and more. So I figured it would be the ultimate forum to belong to.

I am near Raleigh, NC. Like many that have introduced themselves here I have been reading the high road for a long time. I hope I can give as much to the community as I have already gotten from it.

Hi all,

If this site is half as informative as Archery Talk I've found heaven. I've owned guns most of my life but only for deer hunting. Have an interest in CC, Home Defense and Protection from Grizz and Lions if I ever get to my dream hunt in Colorado to go after a bull elk.

I figure a new gun is cheaper than a home security system with the monthly fee's although it might be a wash with range fees.

Hello all. Getting into shooting and guns. I'm a friend of Stellarpod from a motorcycle forum and he recommended THR. I'm sure I'll have a lot of questions. My wife and I are currently enrolled in a concealed carry class.

Howdy, I am Evan, I am living in central Indiana right now, I am from Dallas Texas, and I have been shooting since I was little, my first rifle was a Rossi pump action .22 that was taller than me when I started. I have recently gotten into reloading and garage gunsmithing. I have done leatherwork and machining for a few years, I am self taught. I am also interested in survival which is what lead me to this site after a look at your archives via google.

Hello everyone. I'm an electrical engineer and car nut, but until recently I've not been a firearm owner.

That changed when my dad bought me this for Christmas:

Smith-Wesson-Gun-low-res.jpg
It's obviously a Smith and Wesson 19, specifically a 19-3. It seems to be in good condition, the worst blemish is the bluing scuff near the end of the barrel.

I'm still learning - I don't quite know what I've got. I have been shooting with my dad, a long time ago, back when I was a kid. I plan to have my experienced friends take me to the range so I can get re-acquainted with shooting.

Dad has a pretty good collection, and I've shot all but his most recent additions to his collection. 30-06, M1 Carbine, Cold .357 revolver (a nice gun) Colt .32 semi-auto, Mossberg .22 bolt action among others.

As I said, I'm still learning, so I'll be doing a lot more reading than posting, but I wanted to say "hi" and that you all have a nice forum.

Hi my name's James. I out in NJ unfortunately you know the laws here. I recently applied for my fire arms permit. I haven't been exposed much in terms of firearms except for range time in PA and VA, where they rent firearms.

To Bone2bwild:
I have numerous surveillance cameras that are affordable, wired and wireless. You can buy one cheap and hook it up to your dvd recorder or dvr. You don't have to pay monthly fees! I live in a big city and our murder rate is extremely high, so i use it for my property and to back me up while I'm out on my front porch. Here, you need them for the police and criminals. They work great!

Greetings. I'm a longtime lurker but decided to start posting. I'm someone who loves firearms - the design and function - and I love talking about them as well. Hope everyone is having a good 2012.

Hi everyone
I am from New Zealand, down in the Pacific. Like most of us, am interested in hunting.
I like mainly rifles, and as you can tell from my login, am interested in large calibre, fast twist, subsonic rifles with suppressors.
We are lucky to have no restrictions on them

Look forward to posting rather than just reading...
