Hi Guys & Gals
I have been a "Gun Nut" all my life of 77 and have just dug out the rifle I originally used at 5 or 6 yrs. of age to repair a broken part and refinish the stock. It was my Dad's rifle and he used to hold up the barrel so I could shoot it by putting the stock under my arm.:D
It is a Springfield/Stevens bolt action .22 Model 86C
My first rifle of my own which I also still have is a Remington Pup Model 121 with a Weaver 2.5 scope.
I just sold a S&W 686 and bought a 1967 Ruger Mk1 Target.
Glad to be here and the Lord willing I will be visiting in the future.
Dave

Hello

Hi,
I follow the usual pattern: been reading here a while but just registered, it's good to be a member. I'm only 20, and quite admittedly a newbie; I'm here to learn. I really like the diversity of info on here, everything from "tactical residential architecture" to gun info.

I am an old duffer coming up on 73 years and retired oil field trash. My wife for 51 years is 71 and she has more guns than I do. Don't alway agree with her choices, but as she is always armed, I am not going to argue with her.:D

We live in Arizona along the Colorado River. Have access to hundreds of thousands of acres of public land, which is only a couple hundered yards away from our abode. We enjoy roaming the endless desert on our ATV's and in an old 85 full size 4x4 K-5 Jimmy.

I like guns and enjoy shooting them all, mine run from front stuffers, BP cartridge guns including original JM Marlin Ballard #5 Pacific in .45-70., original early BP frame SA Colt in .44-40 made in 1886. Milsurps, smokeless powder pistols, revolvers and rifles.

Here is link to our home page, pics and comments from our having lived in Alaska and Wyoming over the years: http://hstrial-rchambers.homestead.com/Index.html

Hello all, just found this place and signed right up. Live in upstate NY and shoot pretty much anything.

Hello, all

I'm just an old guy with rifles. Nothing special. Just like rifles, reloading, shooting, more reloading, more shooting. I like hunting, too, but that's usually one or two shots a year, so it doesn't really satisfy my craving for shooting. Oh, I have a couple shotguns too, but I usually just look at them. Anyway, howdy to you all.

Oh yeah, I needed to shoot more and reload more, so I decided to make up a custom wildcat that I have to make dies for and form my own brass........so that should keep me a little busier.

Hello THR, My name is Jimmy and I am new to all firearms. I have a boatload of questions and thought that this would be a good place to start. I have read many threads through google and like the replies. I own a single shot H&R 12ga and am looking into a .357 magnum. I have fired .22lr and .38spls. I hope to get to know some good reliable "gun people."

Hello to all. I am the newest of the new. I have been shooting since age 8 or 9 years oldand loved every minute of, almost. Don't hunt any more, still shooting smallbore rifle and handguns as well as centerfire rifles and handguns. I am here in the north-west corner of New London county, Connecticut.

Hi. My name is Bill Witten and I am a new member on the forum. I have a wonderful wife, four children and two dogs. I am a computer consultant and a part time gunsmith and tactical trainer in the Denver, Colorado area. I am also a former Infantryman.

I shoot tactical long range rifles, hunting rifles, battle rifles, "machine pistols", semiautomatic pistols and revolvers and I also shoot shotguns while hunting, shooting clays or during tactical training. I hunt pheasant, quail and hopefully elk next year. I also do a lot of varmint shooting (prairie dogs, rattlesnakes and coyotes). In addition to anything to do with guns, I enjoy flyfishing, hiking, skiing, four-wheeling, exploring, etc. Basically anything I can do outdoors with my family.

My favorite guns right now are a POF 416 in .223 Rem, a Glock 22, a SA Champion and an SA SOCOM II. I have heavily customized all of them (frame alterations, part changes, action and trigger jobs/replacements, coatings, sights, etc.) except the SOCOM II; I am working on that one now (I'm thinking a Sage stock with a FDE and Coyote Cerakote coating and a Nightforce NXS 2.5-10 x 32). My favorite glass is from Nightforce and my favorite accessories come from LaRue and Wilson.

I look forward to the discussions. :)

Hello, I don't reside in the U.S., my country has extremely strict rules on the purchase of legal firearms. I've been to the local range on a couple of occasions with one of the members, where I've shot semi-automatic pistols chambered in 9mm. I've only shot a few hundred rounds at static targets, but it has been most enjoyable and I want to pick up shooting as a sport. I don't want to remain limited to semi-autos only either, I want to shoot everything, from .22 revolvers all the way up to carbines and bolt action rifles. However this won't happen unless the firearm laws in my country are relaxed. All the while, the trade in illegal firearms has unfortunately increased drastically, with every criminal now able to get his or her hand on guns.

Newbie

Hi guys. I have googled questions about firearms before and this forum popped up multiple times. All the posts I read were very informative so, I thought I would join. I live in AR. I enjoy hunting and fishing. I also believe in the 2nd amendment and enjoy the freedom to be able to join this forum.

I'm from northern Minnesota and like many here I have used the site mainly when researching specific questions. This led to general browsing and since I've seen a post or two where my 2 cents might actually be worth that much I decided to register. Still a better listener than talker though.

I'm mainly a classic hunting/plinking rifle nut and handloader, but enjoy many aspects of guns and shooting. I shoot Glock/AR/870 for work and love them, but my personal wish list includes things like Marlin 39A, Winchester 61, Kimber 84M, Winchester 88, Ruger #1, NULA Model 20, Cooper Model 52, Remington M700 Compact Tactical, 1911, Savage 99, Peacemaker, Winchester 1895, 1886, 1873, 1892...maybe I should stop now:)

I have been a member of THR for a little while but lurked in the reloading and casting forums and just checked out the gun forum. Name is Tom, 50, four grown kids (one in the NFL!!) and born, raised and live in Utah. Married in '86, had four kids, divorced in '96 and raised (by myself) anywhere from one to three of the kids until they all graduated high school. Remarried last year to a wonderful lady who has encouraged me to get back into my old hobby of reloading. I have 10 handguns, eight rifles and three shotguns. I reload .25 ACP, 9mm, 38/357, 44 mag, 30-30, .270 and 30-06. Work at a print shop so I got my greedy little hands on a few hundred pounds of linotype lead and am just starting to get into casting again after a 20 year hiatus.

Hello there! My name is dave, I live in las vegas. I sold my car about six years ago and have been on a harley ever since. I've been shooting guns since I was little, mostly my dads old rifles. I love the old battle rifles and pistols from ww1 &2.

Bought my first pistol about three years ago. Sadly its still my only pistol, hopefully after tax time ill have another.

I cc my springfield xd40 subcompact everyday. 3000 rounds through it with no issues at all.

I found this site from doing searches on various gun topics, and finally joined. Hopefully my pals at xdtalk wont think Ive jumped ship. There's a ton of info here and I look foward to reading and learni g as much as I can.

Hi all. I've been coming across THR posts quite a lot while studying up on reloading over the past several months and I must say I've been impressed with not only the high level of knowledge, but particularly the civility I found here. many of the other boards I've perused made me feel like I had to dump my trusty old Mossys and hang my head in shame. Right, just as soon as I dust my muley racks hanging on the wall.

I'm a noob reloader after decades of "maybe some day", started shotshells last fall, and I got a new metallic press kit for Christmas.
I've got grouse in the freezer with my lead in 'em and I can't wait to fire my 1st '06 loads (this weekend I hope).

hi everyone. just checking in, been around guns a long time and come across THR a bit. figured i would join and start posting. hoping to start doing my own reloading to get into some more competition shooting

Hi folks

Glad to be here and able to read and speak about my life time hobbie GUNS.I dont know it all but know enough to know this site should be great for good people who own guns.

Hey gunners!

I keep stumbling across this site so figured I sign up. Been shooting at inanimate objects for a long time. Got my first gun last year, a CZ82. Hitting the gunshow tomorrow in Manchester, NH. Hoping to pick up some more commie surplus.

I always run onto this forum when I google gun questions, and there seems to be lots of knowledgeable folks, so I thought I'd finally join. I'm mostly into revolvers, as well as deer rifles and shotguns. I'm a member of the S&W forum, the Colt forum, the Savage forum, and the NAA forum.

Hi I'm jb, I live in Fruit Cove, FL., NE St. Johns County. ( near Jacksonville FL )

I just bought a 12 gauge Remington 11-87 . It's definitely for home defense but I also want to get back into target shooting. I've been on a 40 year break from owning a gun. "WHAT WAS I THINKIN?"

I see it's really hard to find a place to just shoot for fun.

I'd like to meet up with someone in this area that enjoys shootin cans in the woods or if somebody wants to tell me a good place to go "shoot at will"

My son and I went to Amelia Shotgun Sports in Yulee Fl - ameliashotgunsports dot com
We had a good time and was not too expensive. The owner and people that work there are very friendly and helpful.
So, hope to hear from anyone that likes to shoot.

Hi,

I am Riley. I hail from the UK. Guns are a hobby for me . The problem is in the UK the government restricts the use of Guns to shotguns only for the citizen farmers and hobbist clay pigeon shooters and then only after passing a strict tested criteria set by the police .

All Handguns are banned to all citizens, apart from the police and the military and the security services. Who get to shoot our citizens when deemed necessary. However our police force is not armed as a rule.

So far they protect and serve by consent . That is changing fast as we have what is known a tactical support unit which is fast response Unit and they are armed with tazers and handguns and all sorts of other weapons seemingly suitable for any given emergency situation .. They usually shoot the wrong people .. Our police forces are not as well trained as your law enforcement tactical units are.

The British government does not believe in arming its citizenry.

Therefore I vacation in the USA where as a non immigrant alien i am allowed to excercise my hobby at gun ranges .There are many questions I would like answered by individuals at this site.

Reading previous posts they seem highly knowledgeable about ownership of handguns for non immigrant aliens within the USA.

I have been enlightened with a great deal of information not available on other sites. Thank you.
