From necessity to fun

Hello. After much discussion with family, have taken a CWP class and applied to carry a concealed weapon for protection. I find practicing with the S& W Bodyguard a somewhat grim necessity to my becoming a safe, proficient CWP carrier. I'm a grey-haired grandmother type who has always been afraid of guns.

However, along the way, I discovered that it was actually fun to shoot targets and plan to join the "fun" target shooting club at a local shooting range. I'm looking now for a suitable plinker and joined the forum to become more knowledgeable.

I am a Cold War Warrior, served 8 years as a 12B. I am a survivalist and have been since 1990. before it was cool, lol. I believe in prepardness, and tend to prepare for worst case senarios. I shoot Grand Master with my P-14/45 limited's. I am currently on my last 3 classes at ITT TECH. I'll graduate soon with an Associates in Applied Science for Computer Network Systems. I plan on deploying to the Middle East this year doing Tech Support and Satellite Connections for a PMC. You'll find I tend to lean toward over prepardness instead of what's probable.

There is a saying in Japan and it goeslike this: If you ever need a sword once in your life, you better carry it everyday.

Hello to All on The High Road,

My name is Jason and my primary belief is self and home defense. Married with 3 children and will do what's needed to protect my family. I support and encourage the procurement of knowledge and skill needed to be able defend and deter.

Looking forward to being a part of this community. Thanks for having me.

Hi, I am the new guy Justin. I have been a long time lurker, and finally got around to registering. I enjoy all things firearm related, but especially love rim-fire shooting, and practical pistol competition (we had a non-sanctioned group back home), and 3 gun matches. I have been hunting, and enjoy it. I just wish I had someone to go with over here in southeast Georgia. If you have any questions let me know, I will try my best to get an answer out.

Hello, Everyone. I guess I can go ahead and introduce myself. I haven't been a member here long, but I have been browsing for quite a while trying to research my latest BA Rifle purchase. My Stevens 200 chambered in 30-06 is shown below. That is a BSA "Deerhunter" 3-9x40 mounted on top. I will replace it eventually. For now, I just want to put some rounds through this rifle and really get a good feel for it.

Since getting out of the Corps in 2005 I haven't really "messed" with many firearms. I just finished up my first year of bow hunting whitetail, and it sparked a chain of events that have really got me hungry for more and more knowledge on all aspects of shooting. The "event" ... you can see below what happened to the first deer I ever shot with my bow. I shot it in the evening and lost the blood trail. That is how I found it the next morning.

So, I have a new vendetta directed down range at coyotes. I realize 30-06 is a little overkill for coyotes, but it was a deal that I couldn't pass up. And I will be taking this gun on some black bear hunts eventually. The last day of archery season, this little mutt ran right under my tree stand!

Now that I have my rifle (one of many more to come), I will be on here quite a bit to start learning about hand loading.

New member intro

Hi,
New member from central Indiana. Long time shooter, USPSA, Steel, Multi Gun etc.
My name is Jim St.Charles. My wife and I live on 15 acres on which I have a 125 yard range. Been teaching my 11 year old grandson to shoot the .22 pistol we gave him for Christmas.
I shoot just about everything I can: Revolvers, Semi Auto Rifles, Semi Auto Pistols, Bolt Action Rifles and Shotguns. I load all my own ammo except shot gun.
This May my wife and I are going to Colorado for 5 days to shoot prarie dogs. Looking forward to that trip.

Jim

I suppose I'm not really new, but have just recently visited this site after never having posted before. I started shooting about 3 years ago after knowing next to nothing about them. Now, I'd like to know a bit more about guns themselves, hence the re-visit to the site. :)

New to the boards and to owning guns. Ive shot plenty of rifles as a teenager and weapons while with the army but never owned anything until December 31st.

I have a Ruger SR40c and absolutely love it so far. I havent missed a week at the indoor range in town and have taken the wife and 17 year old son with me. I want them both to know how to operate the gun and know how to do it safely. 2 weeks after getting the Ruger we bought a S&W 9mm for the son to shoot. He is a lot more accurate with the 9mm and its a good shooting weapon as well. Just a little over one month and Im addicted as heck. This site looks amazing and I have learned much already browsing it.

New member here.

I have been lurking for a while and finally joined. I haven't hunted in years, but I enjoy shooting as much as possible. I like guns that not only perform, but look good as well.

Looking forward to getting to know you kind folks.

Hi, my name is Wiiliam from Charleston, S.C. I recently got hooked on this sight cause I am shopping around for a new pistol. I am looking for my first 1911 style .45. I currently own a smith and wesson signa sees 9mm. Not the best I know, but after a few DIY gunsmithing to the trigger spring I have been pleased with the diff. Any suggestions on a 1911 would be greatly appreciated.

New Member

Hello, I’m a member on several other gun/outdoor forums and I noticed that a lot of people link to post on this board, so I figured I'd come over and check it out for myself. I like all things outdoors from hiking to hunting, but I really like building, collecting and shooting anything that goes bang.
