New here. I love everything about guns. Had only a couple for several years, now I'm slowly collecting. Last purchase was a Russian Dragunov Tiger I found at a buisness's garage sale.

Hello all,

I'm a new member. I love firearms and I believe they're a fantastic tool for self preservation. My first experience with one was seeing my father sprint down the hall with a 12ga to stop someone from trying to kick in the backdoor.

Ever since then I've always viewed firearms as a tool to protect not a weapon of destruction that the media has tried to forcefeed me.

new member

Hello all,

My name is Mike, I live in California, I've been a gun owner for 12 years, I enjoy hunting and target shooting. I reload for all my centerfire pistol and rifle calibers. And I am a DIY gunsmith I've successfully built (CA legal) AR-15s, AK-47/74s, and so far one CETME/HK-91.

I look forward to contributing I've used this site for information a bit over the years.

I'm a new member just getting started with sporting clays, trap & skeet. I looked at a lot of forums and this one just had a nice, friendly feel. Getting ready to buy my first gun, a 391 Beretta. I look forward to learning a lot by reading, but am really ready to start shooting for real.

New to THR

I am an old woman with 3 adult sons. I don't know a heck of a lot about guns and could care less what others think of the ones I own and love. I own a Star 9mm, a Taurus Judge and a Keltec PF9. I know there are those who put down the Star, but it works great for me. My Taurus goes with me just about every place I go and is my favorite gun to take to the range. Ditto on the Keltec depending on the mood I'm in. I also have a few long guns.

There are only 4 criteria regarding my gun purchases. 1) I have a use for the gun. 2) It is in good working condition. 3.) I like the looks of it, and 4) it fits my hand.

I have lurked in the shadows here in the past because oldest son is on here often and reads me various posts, thought I would join myself and learn something on my own.

Hi in the new guy

I've been collectiong military rifles for a while now. I like the old mausers, lee enfields and mosin nagants. To hold a piece of history in your hands is an awesome feeling. To keep them in working order is privilige.

New Member: Constructive Possession

I am a new member intersted in learning shared interpretations of the "constructive possession" law relating to those with felony convictions. Specifically, can someone with a felony conviction reside in a home where loaded firearms are not stored in a locked location? The home and guns are not registered or owned in the felon's name, but he is living in the home. I would be very thankful for any input. I find myself going in circles with different opinions from law enforcement. Please give any suggestions on a more effective manner to post this question as I am unfamiliar with the site. Many Thanks!

New Here, Veteran-Self Employed tryin' to get the word out!

Hello to everyone here at the high road! Seems like a great place to learn and throw around opinions with other gun guys! My name is Lee, I recently ets'd from the army and am in my second year of "higher-edjamucation"...I've also recently started my own company making custom holsters and other gun-leather, "Double-Tap Leather by Lee Mason."

My website is www.dt-leather.com, please check it out if you're in the market for something unique, made in the USA, 100% by hand, one-at-a-time.

The website covers everything else about my company, so I won't blab about it here, but I s'pose I should introduce myself a bit better:

24 years old (a young pup to most of ya I'll bet), living in Garland, TX. Joined the Army in 2006 straight out of high school, assigned to 3rd Brigade 1st Infantry Division at Ft. Hood, TX. Deployed to OEF 8-9, Kandahar province near Maiwand...at one point I believe my company held the record for most IED strikes in a week...not a record you want...got back in '09, transferred to 2nd Brigade 1st Cav. I was right across the street when Hasan started his killing spree, heard all the gunshots..god be with the families of those that were taken that day..it is sickening how long his trial is taking. Got out in Oct. '10, missed the deadline to enroll in fall classes, worked in an Amazon.com warehouse for 7 months until it shut-down due to a sales-tax lawsuit between Amazon & The State of Texas, worked for a moving company for a while, finally started school at UT Dallas fall 2011...it's comical being the "old-guy" in class..in there with a bunch of kids that seem to know absolutely nothing about the real world (no offense), most seem to think it's all lollipops and rainbows...

I know this is rambling, but that's the point of an intro right?:D

Hunting report: Currently hunting the Lake Tawakoni area east of Dallas armed with a Great Plains longbow...that's right, longbow, it's actually harder than it looks...seeing deer every trip, just can't get close enough. Seems like they only move very early and very late, maybe this cold weather coming in will push them around more..

Anyways, stay safe, carry a spare mag, and I look forward to taking THR!

Welcome. Glad to have you. The great place huh? Think I'll stick with Campbell and Bragg if what I've heard about that place is true.

Some pretty nice work on your site there.

Hello, obviously a new member , I have lurked for a year or so and decided it was time to introduce myself. Great info here lots of knowledgeable people. I look forward to gaining new and sharing the knowledge we have acquired of the years.

HA! "The Great Place"...yea, that's a big bowl of b.s.! Hood really is like "tha 'hood"...Campbell is beautiful, went to Air Assault there, caught a mess of trout in one of the streams too!

Good to here from some folks, If I stay on here too long I might not get any work done!

Welcome to the forum, Lee, and thanks for your service. If you need a good leather supplier, tooling or supplies, check with Marty at Tandy Leather in Dallas at NWHwy & Ferndale - near White Rock lake - 214-342-2282, he's been in the leather business for years and knows his stuff.

Hi all you fellow gun lovers. Looking forward to chatting with everyone. I have lots of question. Huge savage and Winchester fan and love hearing stories and getting different points of views on many different topics.
Just have to figure out how this site works.

High Road Show 10-28-2012

Just watched the show and am curious as to why you all praised GAMO so highly. It is true they have quality air rifles (I have a Varmit Hunter HP) but they do not seem to be listed as a sponsor. I have been on the phone, visited the warehouse in Houston, Mo and sent numerous emails trying to get information and specifications that are missing on their website and all I get is 2 replies out of 10+ requests that the parent company will not answer at all. Please profile another manufacturer that has an acceptable customer service.

Hello everyone. Nice to be here. My interests are in long guns, shotguns, and handguns. I like the sight from what I have seen so far and the members have been helpful.

Hey everyone,
New member. Have seen this forum quite a bit in my searches over the years. I am a machinist. I dabble in gunsmithing. No guns anymore at the moment (unfortunately, divorce made me poor, and guns are a ready source of cash). Yep, that's about it.
