New Member in Port St Lucie, Florida

Just registered today after a back and forth e-mail with George Bill * a senior member on this site) concerning a Shield 40 that I was selling on a Florida Gun Website. We semed to have things in common and he pointed me to this website. I'm doing the full recon on it now. Seems better organized thnt many I have seen before and the tone of discussion seems more adult and polite. Did not enjoy some other forums where there were too many people frothing at the mouth.

I am a retired Marine 1966-89 Vietnam Vet-----got back into shooting a few years ago and now I have the Bug--my juices run when I throw some 45 cals downrange with one of my 1911s. Couldn't decide if I favored S&W or Glock so I now own a bunch of both----used to be into rifles a million years ago--but now I am strictly a pistol guy---no revolvers. I can't resist buying them just to try them out. I keep telling my wife that I will sell off the ones I do not like---BUT-----I love them all---just like a kid playing soldier at age 68.

Hi Bengal, glad you decided to join up. We are neighbors I am in Vero if I hadn't mentioned it.

Hello all

I'm a new member (obviously) I'm a very outspoken individual interested in all manner of firearms and everything firearm related. A few activities that I enjoy are rifle hunting ( vermin, deer, hogs, and feral dogs) I try and help prevent the spread of misinformation and try to combat the plague of modern america (ignorance) I hope to be a contributive member of this forum. :)

My name is Dennis I am a New York City resident who always liked firearms despite most of my family being anti gun and living in a city with a very very hostile environment for anyone who has an interest in firearms of any kind. Especially if god forbid you crossed any of the laws whether intentionally or not concerning firearms.

After taking a very long break from my interest in firearms until such a time I felt I was mature and wiser to deal with life on my own as well as older.
(remember I was not blessed with a family supportive of my firearms interest my family are and were great but not as far as firearms are concerned)
I took an interest in firearms again.

Boy did I wake up to a few surprises and who knows if there are more ahead. I used to think that the mandatory one year sentence was bad in NYC these days it can add up to 15 years with a minimun of 3 years behind bars.

Despite the above the real problem was learning these laws was a task that shouldn't be as they are hard to find online and some of them are vague enough to be interpretated on the whim on any judge who happens have the case drop in front of him.

I was reading all kinds of stories on the web that I have never heard before such as police officers going to shooting ranges doing spot checks looking to arrest anyone on whatever technicality they can find. A 50 year old duck hunter being arrested while in his boots and gear in the mud and jailed because of new federal gun regulations he knew nothing about. Another man jailed for have an antique non fuctioning .25 with the slide rusted shut.

Guns of old people confiscated because they were once pinched for smoking pot in their teenage years (a violation when they were arrested) decades ago and the government or state decided on a whim that the new laws should include them.

Not to mention the anal probing your forced to go thru when applying for a gun permit in NYC as well as the pocket gouging license fees. You are asked to answer questions that have no relevance as to your being fit to own a firearm. Who can get a hold of this info once you surrender your right to privacy to truthfully answer these questions along with your provided dispositions ???????? People have just said screw it this is too much of a hassle it's no wonder there is a 30% or more drop in the number of NYC firearms permits being applied for.

Well I woke up to a world of undreamed fascism all across the United States that I would have laughed at in my teenage years. I would not have belived it.

I am now a Paramedic by profession and have chosen to pass on New Yorks City's intrusive firearms permit policies.

I usually go to New Jersey to have fun at the range these days (New Jersey although antigun still allows one to have fun at the shooting range with gun rentals without any hassles NYC does not so Jersey is where my shooting money is going these days) as well as any other states that do not seek to turn gun enthusiests into criminals. It's a lot of traveling and hassle but at the same time quite a relief to get away from NYC for a while.

I like your blog. I find it very informative and educating and I am glad to be a member.

Hi,
My name is Dave. I've been raised with guns my whole life. I'm 55, live in Texas--where we seem to have most of our constitutional gun rights still. I used to reload with my father when I was a kid. I'm setting up a bench in my workshop due to the current political climate. I am a concealed carry permit holder, and pretty much carry all the time. My favorite rifle, probably is my 35 Remington pump, model 14A. My uncle gave it to me when I was a kid, after it was fully restored. My last rifle purchase was an AR15, which I've been adding to. I think I'm semi-done upgrading it. My last pistol purchase was a sig p232 in full stainless. This is my daily carry. I already had the same gun in Sig's nitron finish. Sig is my latest favorite pistol manufacturer. My daughter (17) and my son (21) both know how to shoot. I look forward to browsing and learning from this site.
Regards,
Dave R.

Well Hi Dave and Welcome to THR.

There is an introduction thread and maybe a kind moderator will move this there.

This is likely one of the best gun forums I have come across. I hope you enjoy the place and post often.

Ron

Welcome to everyone!

We take the civility pledge very seriously at THR. Not only because we're a family friendly site, but because we're showing the world that the Antis have and continue to lie about gunowners. Other sites allow misanthropic immature behavior, but THR insists that gunowners are folks that you'd want as neighbors that could be depended upon not just in an emergency, but day after day. Let's represent our community in the highest manner possible while sharing our interest in firearms and our right to keep and bear arms.

Hey, I have enjoyed THR for a while, but today I became a member. Brought to you by my desire to read/post about my new Model 29-10. My preferred caliber had been 357 for years, but I love my new 44!

My name is john and I'm living in New Hampshire. I've been a member here for a while, but never posted anything. I enjoy both handguns and rifle shooting. I dont hunt, never really saw the need. Maybe someday. I'm a machinist and run cnc equipment. I've worked for several gun manufacturers, but work for a medical device manufacturer. Theres alot more money in medical divices. I like reloading too. I've been doing it for years.

Buying 2 stock weapons this wk-1, a Mossberg 88 stock few rounds through it $200, 2, Norinco SKS 7.62x49 100 rds ammo $400 cut deal for 550. I had Norinco SKS 20 yrs ago when they cost $100 did not do much with it before it was stollen & reported. If anyone would be so kind as to give me info about thease weapons I would greatly appreciate it. Problems you have encountered, overcome, ammo-handloading for both, folding side stock, aftermarket accessories, where best price might be found, what to watch out for? In boot scored 2nd highest with M22 out of 110 men but that seems more than 40 yrs ago and 1st time I'd shot anything but a BB gun and Bear Alaska bow. Sure that if our country keeps going as it has for xxx yrs it will socially, economically, etc. fall apart and everyone looking for survival will be running around wanting what little I and friends have! Obviously need advice about Defensive Shooting tactics in E. Tenn (Knoxville ?) Sorry too long winded so I'll shut up. Thank You GOD BLESS EVERYONE ! Brad C alot to ask for don't know this forum or site please let me know where to find posts to me in response to the above. Thanks

Hello Everyone
New to THR and just wanted to say "Hello"
Current owner of Ruger SR1911, Ruger mark iii~22/45 bull target plus an old Brno model 5 22lr.
Live in Canada and just wanted learn from you all!
Forgive me for asking questions that seem to be common but how else can I learn but to ask the learned. I know we have no rights like you but we are fighting for them.
From the fact that we have to take a 2 day course to the fact we have to have a membership in an expensive club to the waiting period that can take up to 6 months plus we have to have PAPERS just to carry the gun in a locked box to and from the range and not allowed to stop for anything or help anyone......... Yes our life SUCKS!!

Sorry for the rant but if this helps one person to be more forceful in not allowing lies to be told to the non gun world. Then the point is made.

Mohandas K. Gandhi: “Among the many misdeeds of the British rule in India, history will look upon the Act depriving a whole nation of arms as the blackest. If we want the Arms Act to be repealed, if we want to learn the use of arms, here is a golden opportunity.” Mohandas K. Gandhi, Autobiography: The Story of My Experiments with Truth, Chapter XXVII, Recruiting Campaign, Page 403, Dover paperback edition, 1983.

Yes I am of the same religion "Hindu"

WHAT GET ME IS MS. FINESTINE HAS THE SAME BELEAFS!

Adolf Hitler: “The most foolish mistake we could possibly make would be to allow the subject races to possess arms.” Adolf Hitler, dinner talk on April 11, 1942, quoted in Hitler’s Table Talk 1941-44: His Private Conversations, Second Edition (1973), Pg. 425-426. Translated by Norman Cameron and R. H. Stevens.
