I've lurked and gotten lots of good info from here over the years. Decided I should get an account and try to put some information back in should the need arise.

I come from a family with a long history of gun ownership. I enjoy both hand guns and rifles which I own several, with a recent acquisition of a Rugar Old Army 44 black powder revolver, which I'm thoroughly enjoying. My primary interest is target shooting and self defense. I attended my first hunter safety course at 10 years of age and took possession of my first firearm, A Marlin 39A lever action 22, which 49 years later, I still own :D I spent 3 years in the Navy and another 31 as a civilian working with experimental ordnance for the Navy and DOD. During a time of my career, I worked on the gun line where we did lot acceptance testing and I had the pleasure of personally firing several thousand rounds of a 5" 54 and 120mm with a 1944 German Howitzer. The first several hundred were fun, then it became a job....... ;) After years of buying my ammo, I'm finally going to the next level and I'm learning to re-load. In my search for information, I stumbled onto this site. Looks like a great place to learn something, and hopefully offer something in return.

Hi to all. Im an old retired school administrator, also a Navy vet. I live on a farm and have my own shooting range set up. I've been shooting since I was 12 years old down south in Laredo, Texas. I still have my first pistol and rifle and I just ordered an M1A1 Scout Squad. I no doubt will be seeking some advice on setting it up right. I like to build Model Airplanes too, but I don't combine my two hobbies:D I also shoot Archery. I am also upgrading my 1911 Remington, I may seek advice there too. I look forward to being a part of your community:)

In the Navy I was Air Controller, Instructor, and Anti-Submarine Airborne. They squeezed every ounce out of me they could. I ran a copy center for the Austin ISD Admin Center in civilian life. I too have reloaded for years. I started with .264 Win Mag; 30 Cal. Carbine; 30.06; 22.250; and 6.5 Carcano. I have added 9mm and .45Auto. Just learning the 45 though. Good to meet you. Soupy

Howdy! Been a shooter since a kid. Do more pistol shooting than long arms any more. Carry stick & string for hunting though black powder is beginning to sound interesting. Have been a reader of this site for a while and joined today to reply to a thread. Great stuff on this BBS.

Hi all, just to say hello and explain why I've registered.

A question came up on a forum I use about a tv series in the early 70's and a google search lead me here, after a while.

I hope it pays off:)

Hello

Greetings all. Thought I would join a well respected community to get info and share info. I'm a certified firearms instructor. I enjoy shooting sports and all that and I mostly focus on handguns. See ya around. :D

Hi to all who have posted before! I am new here and got here in a rather roundabout fashion. I started by reading Mike Kupari and Larry Correia's Dead Six. I read on Larry's website that it started as an online collaboration on the High Road and I decided that I'd like to see what the story looked like in its original, serial form.

I enjoy shooting (obviously). It started when I was 9 when we moved to the beautiful Upper Peninsula of Michigan and my Dad decided I was old enough to get a BB gun for Christmas. When I turned 12, my parents got me a Remington .22 LR. I was hooked. When I turned 18, I bought my first handgun - a Beretta 92FS. Not long after that, I bought a Ruger Super Blackhawk in .44 Magnum. When I graduated from college, I bought a Winchester Model 70 in .300 WSM and was finally old enough to get my carry permit. Then, a darkness fell upon my life... I went to grad school. No life, no money, no guns, no time. Finally, I graduated with my Ph.D. and moved to Minneapolis for work. I got a MN permit to carry and have added a Glock 26 (my current carry gun) and two AR-15s to my "collection". Still looking for a shotgun and I'd love a shorter barreled double action .44 magnum. Also on the wishlist is a .338 Lapua for the 1000 yard range at the club and reloading equipment to help me feed my guns a little more cheaply (and possibly accurately).

Hello, Just found this place. New to rifles and looking for some answers.

I was Never a rifle owner , mostly just pistols, shotguns etc. this looked like a good place to get familiar with them. I just stumbled into here. I'm from california, some friends have rifles and I found a mauser m38 so I bought it cheap and discovered no sights so here I am asking questions.IO've never belonged to a forum so I'm a little lost has to where I actually am supposed to go in here. Thanks Guys

I am a new member. I am a pretty much interested in rifles, shotguns, and pistols. I own all types. I retired after 41 yrs of working on the streets. I worked for two different departments and retired honorably from both. I was the department firearms lead instructor/range master for years, department armorer, before I retired. I taught others how to survive on the streets, and when and when not to rely on their weapon. I am glad to be a member and hope I can share some of my experience with others.
