Newbie from NH

Hello, I have been a gun enthusiast since my father helped me shoulder a Stevens crack shot when I was about 5 yrs old. I have hunted all my life and always loved the shooting sports from plinking to skeet shooting to target shooting off the bench. I have been reloading for about 30 yrs and bolt action action sporters are my thing. I like all the popular calibers in the military family and all the children the gave birth to. The rifles and the ammo are readily available and affordable and I can get all kinds of brass at the range. I like the short action calibers like the 308 and the 7mm-08 and find them to be more than sufficient for the game I hunt and have never had a desire to go into the new wizbang caliber craze. I think they are all great. but just never had the need. I would rather buy and sell rifles in the calibers that I have, and work up loads using components I have and can afford. Call me old school, I have yet to have a deer tell me I need a new gun in a 300 WSSM. Nope they never have time to ponder that question!

Intro

My name's Mitchell born and raised in Alabama. I'm mostly into military surplus but I do love just general talk of all weaponry. I plan on joining the Army once I am finished with high school. Why? Because, why not? It's not only a service to the land of your country, but the people in it as well. I enjoy long walks, partying, hanging with friends and shooting when I get the chance. Thanks for reading! Also, what's the fastest way to grow in this community?

First, quit referring to yourself as a future Army veteran, and especially a future Ranger. I saw folks who were smarter, stronger, and tougher than me not make it out of USAF basic because of freak accidents and other reasons. To assume you're going be one of the 50.13% (current overall rate for the last six years) who graduate Ranger school is extremely cocky. It's awesome that you want to be a Ranger, but don't assume you're going to make it before you've even enlisted.

Next, take an NRA basic pistol course. Then start shooting every local match you can, even if it's just a loosely organized weeknight match at the local range.

Nice slap down Guy! Frenchie, live your dream, keep those goals and try as hard as you can. Don't let one of us grups bring you down.

Hello everyone, my name is Kevin and I am from the Houston, Texas area. I have been lurking around on the High Road for about a year now posting here and there but since I have been posting a bit more and contributing to others posts a bit more frequently I figured it was time I introduce myself.

I have been interested in shooting sports, hunting, and guns in general since I first shot a rifle at 6 years old. I enjoy working on my own guns and adding as many to the collection as I can!

Nice to meet you all!

Hello, first post here, currently in the Houston area. Looking forward to good discussion and learning opportunities here.

Oh, and have developed a passion for older shotguns lately. Grandpa guns are sweet!!!

Upstate New Yorker here , been hanging around the site enjoying all the discussion figured it was time to jump in . Not strictly a Glock lover but I never met one I didn't like in fact I just got the G42 to add to the family . My wheel gun is a Ruger SP 101 2 1/4 bbl for Winter CCW OWB . The wife twisted my arm to get into reloading a couple years ago , her CCW a G19 . I'm a Vietnam Era Vet and have been carrying for 35 years but have just gotten back to shooting in earnest the last three years and having a blast ... Literally !
So that's me , thanks for letting me in on the site .

Hi I am from Iowa

I have been into rifles and guns since my teen years of hunting, further when in the military, I have a shotgun, converted military rifle, 45 gold cup, a ruger mark 1 22, had a ruger 44 mag, just recently I bought a new army 1858 black powder revolver out of Tennessee. I have been on here for a short time before introducing myself here. A lot of good information on this site.

Hi, my name is Chris and I live Columbia, SC. I started shooting at the tender age of 57 and absolutely love the sport. I shoot NRA light rifle, steel challenge and am going to start shooting IDPA. The love of my life (my wife, not my Savage MKII) gave me an AR for my 60th birthday last year. With that in hand and ammo prices soaring, I got into reloading. I reload .223 and have started to reload 9mm to feed my ravenous Glock. Some of the best people I know I've met at the range.

Hi, I'm a new member who ran across this site while searching for an answer to a problem. I am a retired electronics engineer with a mechanical aptitude. I love old guns and I love to help figure out how to make them work like new. I am a Viet Nam Vet ('67-'68) served in Korea ('70-'71), and I work with my local Sheriff's Office as a civilian volunteer.

I spent 40 years in a telecommunications industry, retired in 2009 (Yea, I know if you do the math it's weird but I started in the industry while I was still working for Uncle Sam).

I do all the cooking in our household (married a younger lady who is still working). Asian cusine is my specialty. I raise almost all of my own herbs and I built a vacuum dehydrator to dry them while maintaining their viberant color.

I enjoy hanging out with my best friend who is a retired chemist and between us, we develop and test various reloading recipes for some of the older ammo rounds.

We learn something new every day of our remaining lives! ENJOYING LIFE!

I should have introduced myself earlier but didn't, my bad, but I'm Terry, my name here reflects what I do for a living. I used to play on weekends in the woods with my jeep, the wife got tired of wrecker bills, me fixing it, and "suggested" a cheaper hobby, so I started "collecting" things that go boom. Little did she realize that her "suggestion" would lead to what it has. If it goes boom, is "weird", strange or different, I like it, but it's not limited to that. I HAD to get into reloading to support my "habbit", and with the noise I was making from the back deck, I had to make to tone it down, so that led to buying "mufflers", which led to more fun, and now she's starting to ask me " when I'm going to get the jeep fixed and running", it's only been sitting for 9 years. :)

Hello I am a new member and I love all guns.I have been collecting for years and basically started building my own guns about 15 years ago. ar,s rifles 1911 and so on. I have a lot of good info for people and sometimes I need to find out info from people I heard a lot of good things about this forum so I look forward to talking with a lot of you guys.

My name is Adam, Im 49 and enjoy firearms. I have been a member with gunbroker.com since 2011. I stumbled across this site when I was searching for additional information about firearms. I have taken a real liking to the Colt revolvers and pretty much only collect them. I have gotten rid of most of my other revolvers except a few Smiths.

I have recently become disgusted with all the FAKE Colt NIB advertisements I read. Turns me off so much that I no longer seek NIB. Either a FAKE box, wrong box, copied paperwork or phamplets, and some sneaky refinishing going on.

I'm here to just read, learn, and meet a few good people with the same interests as mine.

Adam

Hi everyone. When I sold my house just before the big market drop I gave all of my guns to my grandson. I had some real nice guns. A Kimber 1 in 500 .22LR, S&W model 41 match pistol, blue 6" barrel Colt python and P226 Sig that was my house gun. There were others but now I can't remember what they were. The sad part about this whole thing is that my grandson does not use them. He doesn't enjoy shooting guns. To each his own but it is sad seeing them not being used. I sure had a lot of fun shooting them. I got away from shooting for about eight years. Then I bought a Daisy 747 pellet match pistol and started shooting again. I'm really enjoying it again. Now I'm thinking about buying a Browning Buck Mark .22 LR. I've been retired for 10 years. I feel these are the best years of my life. My wife and I are doing many things together and are really having a great time enjoying life. Shoot safe my friends.

Hello everyone, Marty here, transplanted to Florida from Massachusetts. I'm a fisherman and a hunter. A carpenter by trade, as far as firearms go, I'm interested in target shooting, hunting and self defense. This is a great forum, I've gleaned quite a bit of positive information from it, and look forward to contributing myself.

I've been a member before, but just got back on-line. I'm a retired gunsmith and like most types of firearms. I did a lot of custom rifles, and accurizing them, which was my favorite thing. I had to close my shop due to health reasons. I sure do miss my customer's and working on their gun's.

Hi. I got into firearms a little over 2 years when my home was broken into. Since then, I took the NRA Basic Pistol course and bought all that I need to defend what's mine.

Hello from Alaska

Lifelong Alaskan likes to hunt, fish and shoot. Rifle and hand guns mostly and load my own ammo. Had a most excellent teacher who has passed away and now I search the forums for info and ideas. This place is amazing for the vast amounts of both. Look forward to learning more about my hobby from all of you! Pic of my son at Susitna Valley Range

Greetings! New to this site but not new to gun forums. I love all things firearm, but I mostly collect AK variants, Combloc C&R, Smith & Wesson revolvers and Beretta handguns. I joined this site mainly because I see there are a lot of knowledgeable people on here. Most of my google searches end up here, hahaha.
