My name is don, just another old man with an interest in guns. 72 yrs young trying to teach grandkids to shoot,so far three grandsons and one granddaughter have took it up. My first pistol at age nine,I can remember the times I would catch the school bus with my shotgun and drop it off at my grandmothers so I could hunt after school. Times have changed, you would have the swat team on you now if you even thought about doing it now.
Have a good day

Hi, new to this site. I joined another site for Mosin Nagant guys, today. They really don't take well to modifing rifles. So I lasted like one post, and then asked to not be on that site any longer, today. After reading here y'all seem like a much better group of gun guys.

31yo Active Mil, got a few guns 1943 8mm Mauser, 1943 91/30 Mosin unmoded, a built Mosin that was trash when I bought it, 1942 K31 Shmidt 7.5x55, Marlin Model 60 semi auto, Marlin 336 .30.30, an old single shot Sears 16ga from my dad, Ithica 12ga 37 Feather Light, 5.56 DMPS AR Carbine modded to rep my service weapon for practice, Taurus 1911 PT1B, Taurus 24/7 .45, and a Walther P22 pretty sure thats all of them. I feel like I'm forgetting a few....

INFO

I am 76 years old like most all firearms do my own reloading and have since i was 11 years old. I love black powder guns long and short have several. Current interest is in Rossi lever guns have two 357 and 44 mag with an Octagon barrel.
I live in the Antelope Valley in So Calif. retired Space Ship Mechanic. I am a life member of Desert Marksmen Rifle and Pistol Club, in charge of the black powder range and I am a NRA cert. Range Safety Officer. Nothing special about me personally I enjoy shooting all my guns (about 14 of them so far) married for the last 32 years to the same woman (she puts up with a lot).

I am new to my Rossi 44 mag lever gun 24 in. barrel and encountering a problem I have never experienced before which is case bulging, about 1/4 of an inch above the rim. This is American Eagle (Federal cases) factory loads 240 grain. My hand loads fore this rifle are IMR 4227 20.5 grains and a cast Lee SWC 240 grains which comes out of the mold at 243.5 grains and .430 dia. Alox lube not overly hefty on the crimp I use a Lee factory crimp die and a Lee set of 44 mag dies. I would like to get an idea of what is causing the bulge in the case. Also with the Lee sizing die when I size these cases it tends to shave off some of the bulge and leaves a tiny noticeable small ring of brass but very minor amount. Has any one else experienced this occurrence with this rifle?

Hello fellow enthusiasts:

I'm a recreational shooter who has gotten the gun buying bug "bad" in the last two years. I own many brands and calibers and have a ball reloading and putting lots of holes in paper targets!

Several of my family members also like to shoot.

I buy and sell often as my enthusiasm wanes for some makes/models. I've also learned to do some simple repairs and enjoy learning from forum members.

I look forward to participating in this cyber comminity.

Howdy from the Pacific Northwest.

I am an old geezer, currently reside in the northwest USA.

I have been a gunsmith for about three decades, now effectively retired, but I still tinker.

I am a combat veteran, (not from the US military) now long since retired. My particular experiences leave me with a preference for very minimalist rifles, I think that sling swivels are acceptable, and even an optic or laser, but I don't favor guns festooned with picatinny rails, or gadgets. I like my guns smooth. Oh, and in full sized calibers, I never saw many dangerous squirrels or poodles... so I don't need a glorified varmint round.

I like John Browning designs, the 1911, tokarev, 1903/1908. I also like odd ball older pistols such as the Ruby and the Nagant revolver.

In rifles I like old school... Mausers, Mosin, G3.

I am pretty addicted to the Saiga 12 and single shot break open shotguns, especially rebarrelling them in pistol calibers.

Newbie from Alabama

Hi Gang,

Billy here (who would've guessed it!). I have a passion for 1911's, black guns, O/U shotguns, mauser style bolt actions and Ruger No 1's. Hunting is sort of an incidental activity to help justify my gun hobby. I reload (started with my dad in the mid -70's) and actually tried to make a living in college. I have 2 Dillon 450's (awesome machines!) and RCBS and Lyman single stage for working up loads. Hands down my favorite caliber is 45 ACP, but I own several 9mm, 40 Cal, 38/357 Mag and 44 Mag's (all pistol). Long guns; 308, 30-06, 7 Rem Mag, 375 H&H, 300 Wby Mag. 22-250. Lately my real passion has been for the AR 308. I somewhat hesitate to call it an AR 10 with the lack of continuity among the platform (I'm leaning towards the DPMS platform - I own a PSA PA 10 - That is another post...). Glad to be here and I look forward to some lively discussions!

Hello all,
New to this forum, but not new to guns, hunting or the outdoors.
I have often checked THR out as a guest and was always impressed.
I enjoy traditional black powder firearms, traditional archery and of course talking with others about all types of firearms and outdoor adventures.
Looking forward to hearing from y'all.
Andy

Hi I am from Wisconsin near the Mississippi river, the west coast if you will.
I have been reloading for 4-5 years. 44 mag, 30 06, 308,40,223,45 LC,7mm RUM, 12 and 20gauge. I try real hard not to get into to many other calibers. Try being the important word there. Just trying to make what I have better. Well rimfire also 22lr and a 17hmr.
Am interested in a suppresor. have not sent in my $200 yet , have no idea why that is. Probably first for 22 then 308.

Have two boys, teenager and a too young to shoot yet.
I couldn't tell ya if I have more pistols or long guns. I am fond of the revolver.

I can shoot in my back yard but i prefer to take the chrony to the range. Which is about 5 miles down the country road.

Spend most of my shooting time busting clays with friends at a private range. We all usually bring other guns there also, besides the scatter guns.

Life is good
God bless

P.S. This forum is insane. WOW there is alot of people on here. Makes it hard to stop staring at this screen. I enjoy reading most peoples remarks.

New Member ~ A Short Message

I want to thank each and every one of you for making it possible to still have the Constitutional Right to keep and bear arms.

I live in the insane state of NY where firearms mentioned in public will probably put your name on a list.

I live in a county that two cities were eight and ninth in the most recent listing of cities that were the most dangerous to live in the entire country.

These two cities are small. As fact, in 2013, the census bureau, estimated the remaining residents of close to 400,000 to the a 2013 total of 46,100.

I wish to thank all of you who keep buying guns and ammunition on a regular basis.

My feeling is that if all of you were not doing what you are doing we would have been overpowered and the amendment not suspended, amended but erased as if it never existed.

My sincere thanks even though this might be the only time I post rather than read.

Thank you for protecting my Constitutional Rights and not have one of the fed program armored personnel carriers parked in my driveway whenever the sheriff decided he wanted to.

I could use superlatives for your actions until there was no more space left but my only reason is that if it weren't for all of you, I would build my security system more complex, more than triple redundant, more than three camera's and more light, on sensors to turn night into day.

The not very positive note, due to our corrupt government locally, starting to fall apart after close to 80 years of tyranny, this is expressly for the early detection of law enforcement not home invaders.

I'm sure there are ethical people but all have to pass the same psych test.

Thank you for the nth time for being who you are and doing what you do !!!

I am a new member. I am interested in all types of shooting (skeet, trap, rifle, and bullseye pistol. I have been a big fan of Ruger for many years. My Ruger #1 has a 2 digit serial number. I have been shooting and reloading for over 50 years but it's only recent that I have gotten into bullseye pistol shooting. So far, I'm only expert class. I have been using MBC bullets in my Kimber Eclipse Target 45 for a while. Could someone please send me the current promo code for MBC. I need to place another order.

Thanks Much,
Ron

Howdy Ya'll

Texas Navy here. Being an Admiral in the Texas Navy, I reckon that should sum it all up. I do live in Texas, at least for the time being. I love history because it clears my mind of all the crap that our teachers, particularly about history, tried to enshrine in our brain housing group! Yup, I am prior military and have served in more than one, been deeply related to two others. I have lived in Merry Ole England and Skegness beaches on the North Sea was as Far East as I have been and have gone as far West as Beirut, Lebanon. I have lived (in the US of A) as far North as Maine, as far South as Florida, am immediately related to folks in Georgia, Alabama, North Dakota, Minnesota. Spent years growing up / later living in states such as California, Arizona, New Mexico, Texas, Oklahoma to name but a few. Good to see all you firearms folks! I started when I was 12, bought my first air rifle much to my Mom and Dad's objections. At 16 I bought my first rifle, a single shot, bolt action .22, At 18, I walked into a Pawn Shop, showed them my driver's license and bought my first handgun, a .22 caliber Ruger. This was my first lesson in "Caveat Emptor" (Buyer beware). I Paid $36 for the badly abused Ruger. A brand spanking new one would cost at MSRP, $34. Oh, as a civilian, I have openly carried a pistol. It is a whole lot easier and more civilized than openly carrying a rifle or a shotgun. Have had guns in my home, in my car - for a great many of my years.

Welcome aboard, Admiral. Texas has a navy? Provisional congrats on upcoming open carry, thank you for your service, and enjoy the forum.

Halfcack,

I understand your pain! I knew of an older gent (I am no spring chicken) who carried his rifle to school on the city buses in New York (NYC I believe) for marksmanship training (yes at school).

About 1964, while I was reading an Oklahoma newspaper, they had an article about police pulling over a driver who's car was sagging way to much for them to ignore him. I am sure they wanted to know just what was weighing down that car. Driver opened it up and shows them the canon barrel his is transporting in the trunk of his car.

The "suspect" did not have the gun carriage in the car, no ammunition, no fuse and no powder nor the tools needed to load and fire this late 18 century firearm. So, the police charged him with "carrying a concealed weapon."

With George Soros and his billions, I am surprised you can even get a Coke-a-Cola there these days. God Bless you!

Hi everyone,
My name is Thi Han I am from Burma originally and now I live in Sydney, Australia. I always have intense interest in rifles, but in Burma, for an ordinary civilian, it is almost impossible to own a rifle, I have never touched a rifle in my life until recently.
Since I emigrated to Australia, I have been so occupied with the things that I need to survive and settle in a developed country, I can be able to find myself time and money for rifle shooting just one month ago, exactly on 14 March 2015 I first ever shot a rifle at a Sydney range which was a CZ 542 .22rifle. So far I have done 7 sessions of small caliber target shootings.
I intend to involve some hunting activities, so I started looking at centerfire rifles (but I've never shot one).
I've already put deposit to buy one .22 (TOZ17-6) and one 3006 (izhmash los 9-1). I like Russian's as they are famous for toughness and minimum requirement of training and maintenance compared to other high quality rifles of Europe and America.
My next purchase will be 308 and I can not decide which one to choose among SAKO 85 Bavarian; Tikka T3 Forest or another Russian, probably a Baikal.
I read many rifle-relating threads in THR and impressed with many writers' experience with rifles and shooting.
Any comment on my approach to this new hobby will be much appreciated.

HOWDY Y'all

I have been a gun enthusiast for quite a few years. I enjoy target shooting and would eventually like to get involved in comp shooting. Other than that, I really have nothing special to say about myself.

new here I like swords

Hello everyone, new here from China. I have no gun. But I am more interesting in sword. My hometown is famous with chinese sword. Some great master live here.
I am now trying to popularize the culture of our sword, also do business of them. The factory there both make Chinese sword Samurai Sword. It seems that the samurai sword more popular, like the one in the walking dead, handed by the black woman.

Anyway, friends, if you have interest, you can contact, tell me what kind of sword you like most...

Looking for info on mag for Navy Arms Tu-90

I purchased a Navy Arms 9mm in an online auction. It is a Chinese made Tu-90, and it was listed in the auction with "no magazine". Hmmmm, I am thinking a person should be able to buy magazines relatively easy, so I ended up paying $155. Plus 10%, plus Ky. Sales tax, so I have $180.00 in the pistol. The gun is in great shape, however I have ordered three mags online and none of them fit. I have been advised that this particular gun may be a "Tokagypt" and the mag has to have a "shim" to fit. Does anyone out there in radioland have any ideas where I might find a mag?
