newbie but oldie

Hello THR, I'm a newbie, I'm Red, White & Blue through and through. An ARMY Veteran of 26 years. Born in 1947.I no longer hunt because of health issues. But I shoot and shoot some more. I enjoy helping others shoot better. I do my own reloading (except 9mm). My latest toy is a stag 6L, and it will group 3/8" @100 yds. Love to shoot it.

Hey folks, new guy in town... Father of 5, small business owner, prior service Army - Lurked here off and on for a long time, decided it's time to make an account.

Hello folks -

mqqn here - last name = Moon, hence the moniker mqqn -

53, in central Illinois, love guns, knives, guns, cars, photography, darts, guns, disc golf, motorcycles, and guns.

I teach Illinois CCL, am a NRA instructor, have the IDPR Perc.

I have been married 24 years (on Monday...), have two children, three grandchildren (!) and most of my family lives within 15 miles of my house.

I work for a company that makes big yellow track-type tractors as an " IT Guy".

I have been a Tennessee Squire for 33 years this past April, and enjoy going to the Distillery for the BBQ each year to meet up with my fellow Squire friends to enjoy a tip of the glass and some good food and conversation.

I just recently built my first AR-15, a pistol; pretty much just for the fun of it and I was able to get in cheap by trading a pistol for the lower and kit and buying the upper and charge handle. Taking it out tomorrow for the first firing.

My wife is also a firearms instructor, with her certification to teach Illinois CCL, although she has only assisted me on a couple of classes.

The instructor business should be a nice pastime for retirement years, which, depending on the stock market and the price of big yellow stock, could happen almost any time.

I have enjoyed reading this forum, see some familiar names from the knife forums and other gun forums.

Thanks for having me into your forum.

best

mqqn (Andy)

Hello from Alaska

Hi all, I just turned 25 and long story short, I started collecting firearms.
I recently have tried out a whole list of stuff and I realize outside of hunting firearms. I really like shooting 7.62/308 at long ranges, I have worked really hard to put together some nice rigs to get it set up. I think I like the 7.62/308 more than 300 win or bigger because of the costs. I normally buy match ammo when it is on sale and 300 win+ is very expensive, at least for me. I am in Alaska and it can be quite a struggle to find a suitable range to get really serious. I grew up in Oklahoma, so finding a shooting area there was easy. Up here it is quite difficult. As of yesterday I have maxed out all of my local options, shot 300 yards at Birchwood. If anyone has any advice on how to find more suitable options let me know. Otherwise looking forward to learning more about my new hobby.

Bit by the black powder bug, picked up a Walker today and very anxious to start blinking away. Going to be great keeping mosquitos away here in New Hampshire. Favorite pistol are revolvers so this will fit in nice. Wife thinks I am on crack but that would cut into my ammo budget

Air Rifle lifer

EX Navy CB. I live in the desert below Tucson ,Arizona.
In the near future I wish to buy a nitro gas Break Barrel Rifle .177. I am into shooting pigions and non-flying Rats.

I enjoy all guns, but especially like Handguns and MSRs. I also have an account of the same name on AR15.com; where I am also relatively new.

I just joined today. I am doing research on a couple of old 22 rifles I have had in my closet for over 20 years. One probably 45 years. so, you can see I am not a youngster although I just recently got my concealed carry permit.

Sorta new here

I have never posted here and have been a member since 2010. I just didn't remember joining. It was kind of a busy time then just having moved to Florida from Ohio. Anyway I am 47 year old husband, father, truck driver and gun enthusiast. I am starting to develop an interest in hunting and hope to do some soon if I can find someone to show me the ropes.

Greetings to all gun fans

Hello my name is Wilfred, greetings to all gun fans and sports enthusiast. I am new in this site < THR.ORG >; I’m getting aged like the fine vine. Retired from local gov.service. At young age, I started watching at a home town shooting range, since then I ‘m computing in the arms mode. Firearms are to me like a nice looking beautiful chick, and once you look at her, she hypnotizes you, like if she’s were telling you take me home with you!. I wish, I could have the money to have one of all brands and calibers.

To start I will sort out my user name. Alley because since I can remember that is what my daughter has called me, well the nice names any way. Yooper because I love Michigan's UP so much and have a cabin and hunting property there.

I have been hunting since I was nine for small game and deer since I was 14 when it was at that age to be legal.
Just finished my 54th year of deer hunting 2014 season only missing one opening day/season in 1966.

I collect antique Massey Harris tractors a few lawn/garden tractors, reload my own ammo, build my own fishing rods and some lures, Hunt coyotes with a vengeance, crows and other pesty stuff.

Hate summer heat and humidity bugs and people who whine about winter here in Michigan and won't move.

Hello all,
Phil here, but also known by nickname Philo (pronounced like the pastry dough). I just recently relocated back to my hometown of Cave Creek Arizona after my father passed away in the fall last year. I left back in 1983 for a 26 year career in the US Navy followed by five years as a project manager for a major defense contractor. During my career I earned my BSEE then recently completed my MS in Technical Management on the GI Bill.
I have a pretty extensive gun collection in calibers ranging from .17 Hornet up to .30-06 and pistols from .25ACP (an antique) up to .460 S&W Mag. I have recently gotten into the 6.5 caliber by acquiring a Tikka CTR in .260 Rem and building 6.5 Grendel AR platform. I am primarily a predator and varmint hunter with the occasional game hunts once or twice a year. I've also been seen with a fly rod in my hand a few times a year. I have a pretty extensive workshop with both woodworking and metal working equipment and spend a lot of my time increasing my proficiency with them.
My other passion is motorcycling, primarily adventure motorcycles. I have ridden through most of the western US and Mexico and plan on working my way easterly when my schedule frees up.
I look forward to learning from many of the knowledgeable members here in this forum.

Greetings y'all. Lurked for quite a while and decided to join. I do a lot a listening and very little talking.
Born and raised in North Alabama... Tennessee River country...and been living here for all my 55 years (except for a stretch in the military). Love reloading, shooting, and all things firearms. Love to hunt and fish. Got a great family...wife, 3 daughters, 3 grand kids and another on the way.

Utah gun hack

Hi, I'm glad to be a participant in the forum now instead of just a lurker. Into medium caliber handguns and rifle target shooting here in northern Utah. This is a great forum and hope I can share the little that I know.

Long Time Reader, New Member

I have scanned, studied, referred to, and researched The High Road for these past five years. Although there are many good forums out there, I decided to join THR because it has the best quality (intelligence) discussions of the ones I've visited. I like your crowd. I hope to be a helpful member. Got a woodworking question? just ask.

I've been shooting all my life. Now that I'm retired and the house is paid for, I thought I'd run up the credit card bill and buy some guns that I always wanted but had denied myself. With plenty of range time, I decided to take up reloading a few years ago. I tell the neighbor that "I'm getting ready for the revolution."

I'll reply to threads when I feel that I have some unique information to share, but I expect that I'll mostly defer to the more experienced members.

I was raised in Wade Bourne's current neighborhood and currently reside near JD Jones. How lucky can a guy be?

Hey all. Found this site while searching for reloading info. Found what I was looking for, and liked what I found! 'Nam vet. Still carry a wood and steel 1911, and will, as long as I can still hold it and put'em where I want'em. Nice to be aboard.

Hello all. My name is Ed. Very happy to have found this site. I am a very long time Florida resident. Although I don't hunt any more. I still enjoy target shooting. Main interest is self defense and concealed carry.

a new member checking in

Hi to all, I like reloading rifle and pistol ammo, working up loads for a lot of different firearms. Got some good info off of here on BE86 and now use it in 9mm,40S&W, and 45 Auto. Gonna load up some .38 special and .357 mag trial loads to see if I can get as good of groups and results as I did with the other ones. I also reload .44 Mag, and 500 S&W. Rifles .223 .243.270 are the ones I get the most use out of. I use a 444 Marlin for hog hunting. Always interested in accurate non Max loads for any of them. I do some bird hunting with my buddy Ammo. He is my springer spaniel. I will keep an eye open for what ever interests me. Have to see if this old foggy can get this computer stuff straight :)

Thanks, usmc6600

Greetings Earthlings!

Thanks for putting me on :) I just got in from Tacoma and thought I'd drop by and see what all the hubbub is about. The other day I bought a M&P 380 w/CT and figured it had been around long enough for some of you folks to have posted your thoughts on it, good or bad. I can never know enough about anything. Other than that firearm I have a S&W Model 38 and a Para .45. I appreciate being able to nose around and, with luck, I might even think of something intelligent to say ( no promises, though :)
