Was at my local gun store a couple weeks ago to see if they had any Thompson Contenders in stock. However, a Colt Government Model, 80 Series 1911 caught my eye. I have not owned a 1911 since 1989 when I sold it to help pay for college books :(

Plain Jane, blued steel and double diamond rosewood grips. I have not seen a Colt 1911 (lots of Kimbers and others though) in over 2 years at this store...and so...I could not help myself. She followed me home :)

500 rounds of Ball ammo and 100 rounds of Federal HST +p and not a single hiccup. Looks like I'll be adding this one to the ccw permit.

Nice find, but you have to add it to your permit?

Beautiful--perhaps even perfect. I have the exact same pistol, but your grips are a much nicer shade of red than mine. Congrats!

Nice! You got the best 1911s outside of the boutique lines. Small part materials are far better than the mass produced competition and these pistols have a well earned reputation for outa the box reliability! I just picked up a 01991 .38 super a few months back- Very pleased!

Hope I didn't just jinx you :uhoh:

I bought one very much like yours last year. I wanted it primarily for a range gun plus I liked the "100 YEARS OF SERVICE" rollmark on the right side of the slide.

I did the same thing. I bought a Blued "100 years of service" Government Model, but I chose .38 Super.
    Nice Pistol, BTW

I got that, just wasn't aware some states required you to add specific weapons.

Unlike in the free states, The Peoples Republik of *********** is a "MAY issue" state. The issuance is county by county and is up to the Sheriff, and MAY be issued if you pass a background check, have 3 references, and the sheriff feels that your "good cause" statement justifies you to have a permit to carry concealed.

Fortunately, our sheriff (actually our last FIVE sheriffs) believe the state should essentially be "shall issue" to any law abiding citizen who is legally allowed to have a gun. Most counties, other than ours, have a limit of three guns...our sheriffs have said it's whatever firearms list will fit on the back of your permit.

That'd do it. I predict that little filly'll eat many feedbags of lead and want some more.
