After deciding that I couldnt ever use any of my Sigs as a beater. I decided to buy a XD9 Subcompact. Well I was very surprised with the results.

I picked her up on Friday and got her all cleaned up for her range day today. Did the usual, ran patch through the barrel and added a drop of oil on each slide.

Today I put 300 rounds of AE 115gr ball and 50 rounds of Speer 124gr +P ammo. The XD fed it like a champ. At 7-10 yards the gun shoots groups that are 1-2 inches shooting offhand. This was done with strong and weak hand. Pretty impressed due to the shorter sight radius of this pistol. At 20 yards I was pretty much able to keep them in a 6" circle. It was in the black if I did my part.

Needless to say I am pretty happy with this little guy. The only thing I didnt like was the fact that it would chuck a shell here or there at my forehead. So at the end of the range session I had gun gooooo on me. No biggie. Here she is!!! My new baby. I also took my 226 out to do some accuracy comparison but its no contest but the XD can definetly keep up with any of my 9mm Sigs. That isnt something I can say about a whole lot of guns.

Hey, Cool!
I picked mine up on friday as well. My shooting results were the same as yours. Mine likes to bounce an empty case off my right shoulder rather then my head.

Have you though about getting grip extensions for the XD9SC. Its makes a huge difference in the way that that pistol points. Pearce makes them model number PG-XD.

I LOVE my XD-9C....I doubt that I would ever put an extention on the mag. but thats just me...

Congrats on your purchase:D

IIRC, you can legally convert that to a hi-cap by using 40 S&W Beretta mags. I read about that recently and BATF says it is a legal to perform and own conversion. Anybody done it?

Do your pictures acurately reflect the color of your gun? Your pistol looks quite gray to me. Supposed to be black? Mine is.

Another question. This is the "Subcompact". Do they also make a "Compact" model? Didn't think there was such a thing but I was looking at holsters earlier today and saw an "XD9 Compact" listed without mention of a Subcompact there.

Hope I didn't order the wrong holster!

compact=subcompact...some holster makers have it listed differently...mine is listed as the SA XD 3" and I havent had and problems with orders...

I took some pictures for comparison

Let's see if these look BLACK. These pictures are a good representation of my XD9SC (as they appear on my computer before the upload anyway).

BTW - I CPL this gun 24x7 and have not oiled it in 56 days. This includes into the bathroom when I shower, at the head of the bed while sleeping, while shoveling snow (it fell out into the snow bank once :( ), and even sleeping in the recliner under a quilt while fully dressed on several occasions. Little experiment to observe for rust. It's seeing plenty of humidity and handling. I'm not going to go more than another month with this. The gun was purchased 8 months ago. No rust yet.

How much did you pay for it, and how do you think it compares to the P99?

Other side

This is the side which does not ride against my body. I think mine cost about $400 minus the taxes.

Final Picture

The ammo is Federal 124 gr NYCLAD HP. Lead hollow points coated with nylon. Best non+P "one shot stoppers" you can get according to one of those controvertial studies. They performed better than Golden Saber +p on a Geo Tracker that I ventilated before it's final trip to the dump. I like em a lot. Best photo of the bunch I'd say:

JLI,
I tend to prefer the XD-9...it just points better for me...one of my shooting buddies owns a '99 and loves it..me I think my xd-9 points better for me and costs a little bit less...but thats just me:D

Josey,
I believe this requires some modification such as drilling or filing. Springfield XD40 mags do fit the XD9 and allow 15 or 16 rounds of 9mm to be loaded. The mag will stick out the bottom of the Sub-Compact grip about an inch. I only use them at the range.

I get a decent discount being a holster maker so my price would be a bit lower than the norm...BUT!! my bud bought one last week (I STILL don't have his holster done yet!!lol) at it was around $400...I think the 99's are about a $100.00 more... check with Gunbroker.com or usaguns.com to see what different prices you can come up with...
