Hello everyone. Uncle Sam's $600 rebate check is already spent on an AMERICAN made firearm. Picked up the PM9 with Night Sights at my local retailer for $699.

Took it to the range today and fired the 200 rounds of break in fmjs through it. I was worried about a lot of problems, but I only had ONE stovepipe at about round #100. It was easily cleared and the rest were trouble free. I'll have to fire some self defense hollowpoints through it next time. Any suggestions about the best ammo for the PM9 would be greatly appreciated.

Here are the pics of my shooting. Not perfect, but decent enough for my first time out of the gate. It's VERY controlable and the recoil was not really an issue at all.

Nice little gun. Nice shooting too. I love the small size. A lot of guys use Winchester 127 +P+ or Gold Dot 124 +P. I have Federal 124+P EFMJ in mine right now.

I carry corbon dpx round sin my pm9. they work great, not a cheap round but certainly one of the best. Glad u love your pm9. it willeven get better with more rounds through it. hate to brag but have 12,000 flawless rounds through my pm9 . never one issue, nadda, zero. nothing. Just goes bang every time. I carry in front pocket 24/7. just don't even know it is there. My range ammo is anything that I can find at a low price kat it shoots any ammo I put in it to. never been ammo sensitive. IMO the kahr line of handguns are the finest ccw handguns on the market. Top quality, alot of glock technology in the upper slide for sure. the simplest triggeer system on the market. Far simpler and IMO better than even glocks. You can if your heart desires even go to wolffs gunsprings.com and you canorder the 5# striker springs for yourkahr. This indeed really canges the trigger controls. No mods needed, just install. Keep the rails lubed with good great and lubricate the barrel and barrel lug and then proceed to just shoot it like you stole it. great gun, congrats on a super buy...

The CW9 is basically the same size as the K9 and P9. About 5.9" long and 4.5" high. These are slim guns that basically need to be carried in a belt holster. Flush mag carries 7+1 rounds.

The PM9 is the same size as the MK9. About 5.3" long and 4.0" high. These are pocket guns. Flush mag carries 6+1 rounds and the grip is too short for your pinky to wrap normally.

The PM9 is shorter in length and height, has a 6 round capacity, 3 inch barrel, polygonal rifling (supposed to enhance velocity), dovetailed sights, and more machining.

The CW9 has a 3.5 inch barrel with conventional rifling, 7 round capacity and machining designed to reduce the cost, along with a fixed front sight.

The PM9 is the deluxe pocket pistol while the CW9 is the economy belt gun. Both are excellent for what they are designed to do it.

To add to m1911's post ... The cw9/cw40 are the " budget" Kahrs . You save quite a bit on purchase price but sacrifice some milling steps , dovetailed sights and the polygonal rifled barrel that the p series all have . I bought my p9 before they came out with the cw line and dont regret the money a bit , however if i were to buy today i would give the cw line a long hard look before i spent the extra for a p series . The pm series is a class by its self and has no " cheap " companion line . There is the mk series which is the same size as the pm but all steel and so more falls in line with the k or t series of kahrs .

As a side note Kahr also produced what they called a covert model which was a p series pistol with the butt/grip cut down to the pm size it had no special markings to identify it but that was what kahr called it . IMHO this is likely the neatest Kahr made , since you got the longer sight plain and robust recoil system of the " full sized " Kahr and the tuck away short butt of the pm . A budget minded fella could easily make a CW covert by buying a CW and a pm/mk mag , then trimming the grip to match the short mag . Honestly if i did not have a pm9 i would have already dont this to my p9, or picked up a cw to do it to .

One of the complaints against the CW9 is that night sights aren't available from the factory, nor as a retrofit due to the design of the front sight. According to Kahr, that should be taken care of this summer.

Correct buzz . One of the downsides of the cw has been that if you demand night sights , or in fact any changeable sights you will spend enough smith money to buy a full p series to get different sights . This tho like the lack of a polygon bore has different importance to different folks . The Kahr formfactor alone is IMHO worth the price of a cw for a carry gun . After all what price is the next step in concealment , and once you pay it you have to ask yourself " will it handle +P or my ammo .
