New powder from Hodgdon!

I've not read up on this powder much. I've been in Japan for a month with 2 months to go.

Forgive me if this has already been thrown out there, but is this Hodgdon's version of,,, or answer to RL16? Are the burn rates similar?

My PR StaBALL 6.5 & N-140 is out for delivery, I'll get some velocities in 6 Dasher soon. Then load some and shoot a group or two one evening next week.

Well, kiss a fat lady's tush. Stopped by Cabela's in KC on Monday coming home from the doc and bought a pound of imr4064. If they had StaBALL, I didn't see it. But, I would like to see how it performs along side Big Game in a 7mm-08.

The Precision Rifle powder from Winchester is a typical flattened ball powder that appears to be pretty consistent in thickness and diameter.

It should meter well.

I'd like to see the weights it threw.

I linked the wrong video - I thought that was the video where they weighed multiple charges thrown. They must have taken it down, but they had a video up a couple weeks ago dropping three or four charges and weighing on the A&D, dropping to the same xx.34grn each time. Shane claimed in comments on their photos it has been +/-0.05grn in more testing.

Might have been pulled down if Hodgdon/Winchester didn’t want folks getting too excited? With a ball powder and a good node, I’d worry a lot less about the charge weights as I would the velocities.

I shoot with them here and there, seems like they’re always poking and prodding, but Shane’s pretty persnickety about their loading, especially this season after they both started shooting ELR matches.

I am going to load 5 with N-140 & 5 with Precision Rifle, shoot each one to get velocities, then go from there.

Yes, it says "Precision Rifle StaBALL 6.5 on the jug.

I suspect there will be more of these with "StaBALL" as part of the description. The tab on top says "Precision Rifle".

They already have data for the 22-250! I gotta work down some of my reserves before adding a new powder, but I'll be watching for people's experiences in the interim.

While I don't shoot 6.5 Creedmoor (use it for 30-06), I am glad this powder came out. Hopefully it will relieve pressure from the H4350 market.

Though it has gotten a little better in the last 6 months, around my area H4350 hangs on the shelves about 4 minutes.

Jonny's Reloading posted up a video with an attempt to test StaBall 6.5's temp stability. Obviously his method has limitations, but I found it interesting anyway:

This powder looks like an interesting option in the burn rate area I use the most, looks like there are some good warm loads for 6.5, .30-06, and even heavy bullet .223. I wonder how it would do in the Grendel, from the compressed .223 loads it looks like you might run out of case capacity before getting good pressure. I'm definitely keeping an eye out for some to try this winter.
