I've had good luck with AA2520 in my 308's.I shoot the kinda new 169 grain Matchkings with excellent results. It seems to be very stable, especially for a ball powder, and it's a lot easier to meter in a powder measure.I don't shoot long range a lot this time of year, but when I get going in the spring,I'll be shooting more 2520 than Varget.
I have a couple of pounds of 2520 and Im hoping to get some good results in my AR10 with a 168 just for general shooting. My biggest fear? It will end up being great, and I wont be able to find it in quantity :)

Hmmm. Staball HD for magnum level cartridges that use LRM primers.

Well I guess a few will buy a powder in anticipation of maybe finding primers down the road…

Presumably, the primer manufacturers are working as fast as they can. In the meantime, the show must go on so (also presumably) powder technology also needs to progress.

Wasn't impressed with their first StaBALL powder. (6.5)

And I like the old numbering system instead of names that could at least give us an approximation of burn speed in comparison to other powders.

And if I pay $300 plus for an 8 lb jug, it will be a proven powder.

Then again, maybe all this means is the older powder factories on foreign soil are not going to be viable going into the future so the US market needs domestic production alternatives. They can’t call it IMR 4198 if it’s not made by IMR or even similar in appearance to 4198 but they can sure as heck call a reformulated version of IMR 4198 something new-modernish and market it to the same audience. Or am I overthinking this?

I am all for domestic production, and I did see an article that said the fed was reopening a few federal ammunition plants, not sure if that's true or not.
