Took my new PT145 Millenium Pro to the range yesterday for its first session and from a rest at 15 yards (the shortest distance available at the range), it appears to be shooting about 6" high. Most all of the 5-round groups were around 6-8" and I don't think thats too bad for a 3 1/2" barrel at that distance and with it being a new pistol to me. I was using a variety of loads: WWB 230 gr FMJ and some reloads using 4.7 gr of W231 and Rainier 230gr plated bullets. No failures of any kind.

I had brought some Remington GS 185gr +P but after trying them in my SA 1911, I thought they might be a bit too hot for the PT145.

Does anyone know of any aftermarket sights for the PT145? Would placing a shim under the front sight work to lower POI?

Look to your grip. I have a MilPro and had the same problem except mine were hitting low. With me it was definitely the grip. I have also shot the GS 185+P's without any problems. Another neat trick is that a P14 (Para Ord hi-cap) mag will fit and seat in the magwell. Wish mine had the front rail........

If that isn't it, Trijicon is the only maker that I know of that makes aftermarket sights. I do believe, you can contact Taurus about getting different front sight heights. Don't know for sure but remember reading that somewhere.

Mine seems off as well...

Took my new PT-145 (Mil Pro w/ rail :neener: ) out to the range to break in today and I was pretty unhappy :( .... from ~ 10y mine shot a consistent 6"-7" to the lower left of where I put the sights.... I'm not really sure what is going on, but I don't think it's completely my fault. I do tend to shoot a bit left, but not low and never THAT bad. I used 100 rd of 230gr Fiocchi FMJ and 50 rd of WinClean 230gr with generally the same results. I am definitely going to give Taurus a call if I have a similar experience next time at the range. For right now I won't consider using it for carry :uhoh:

I know it was break in, and it's .45 in a 3.25" barrel, but from 10y I'd still expect to shoot at least 4" groups on target with low grade ammo...

Anyone else have similar experiences to share?

I had been shooting my SA 1911 immediately prior to the 145 so I tried to use the same basic grip. Also the groups and where they hit were from a rest and I was pretty careful placing my finger on the trigger as I tend to stick my trigger finger in too far and that typically results shooting low and left for me (I'm left-handed).

The groups were high and directly above the bull. I tried different points of aim (6 o'clock and POI) and the groupings were the same distance above each different aiming point.

The trigger pull is almost as long as that of my Ruger P89 in DA so that may be one issue.

In any event, it's certainly a reason to go to the range again :D

I'm a lefty as well. It took about 400 rounds until I finally got a good feel for it but it was frustrating at first. The MilPro has become my main compact carry pistol and it goes while the SIG 245 stays in the safe. I really think it is just a question of getting use to the 145. I've also been toying with the idea of the Para Ord Warthog as a replacement for the SIG as I prefer SA triggers and the size and capacities are similar to the 145.
