I chose my one gun on Kahr's instructor discount for the year, and here it is. A Magnum Research MLR22AT. I was pretty excited to see that it came shipped in a hard case, too! Kahr's instructor discount program is the best out there, and this is what I almost got last year when I opted for a new carry piece instead (P45 with night sights). I was happy to have my FFL call me the other day to let me know this was in. I got the scope on sale at Cabela's last weekend when they were $100 off at $129 (Nikon Buckmaster 3-9x40 BDC) using my points on the card after paying for college and travel soccer. Might as well get something useful out of the points, right? I'm looking forward to sighting it in and seeing how it shoots. I'm pretty pleased!

I'd clean the barrel well before shooting. Then I'd shoot at least a hundred rounds of any old ammo. Clean well again.

Then get a variety of good (read match grade) and see what it will do

Interesting looking rifle.

Is the barrel threaded?
Not on this model, they DO make one with a threaded barrel. Doesn't matter since I live in Ill-annoy who doesn't allow suppressors. The barrel IS a carbon fiber wrapped sleeve, basically. The whole rifle, WITH THE SCOPE, weighs in about 5 pounds. The trigger group is stock ruger 10/22 and the receiver is based off of the 10/22 but with a better chamber and integrated rail. Really a nice gun. MSRP is $600+ (without the $200 scope that's on it). With the NRA Instructor discount that Kahr (parent company of Magnum Research and others) offers, 1 per year mind you, they price was $350 plus $30 shipping.
