Hi all,
Here's another quiz:
To where did Ordnance install the Caliber .30 Rifle Plant just before WW 2? We are not talking about the M1 Garand.
This one is just a little history quiz.
Thanks again
Clancy

Hi all,
Rock Island Arsenal was where Ordnance installed the Rifle Plant. The Plant was leased to Remington. There is another part to this quiz. What was the problem that Ordnance had after leasing the Plant to Remington? Remington, could not make any rifles after because something was missing. Do you know what it was.
Thanks again
Clancy

Ooops. I thought you were talking about the M1 Carbine, not the 03. Inland carbines began being delivered in August, 1941.

The only problem I remember it the Remington plant is they didn't have the tooling to build the rifles. The tooling was removed from storage at the Rock Island plant and moved to Remington's plant and they began production of the M1903 in November, 1941. This morphed into the Remington M1903 (Modified) and finally into the well known Remington M1903A3.

Hi all,
The main problem was that Ordnance at RIA would not release the barrel making machines. At the time they were needed to make machine guns.
Thanks again
Clancy
