I was at my local Academy sports today and saw a couple of Redfields on the shelf. Asked about one and flipped it over, TADA, made in China.

I know Leupold owned them for awhile and made a dozen different scopes under the Revenge and Revolution lines. I believe the Revenge was made in the Philippines and the Revolution was made in the USA. Does Leupold still own them or are have they been sold off to another company? I can't find a website or any really info online.

Leupold sold the Redfield name. Academy bought it.

Any scopes made while under Leupold ownership is still, and will continue to be, under warranty by Leupold...for ever if the scope came with a lifetime warrenty.

I know..because I just sent one to them to be repaired...was told it's still covered. (Ends up..it couldnt be repaired so they are sending me the Leupold equivalent...but the model is backordered and will take up to 12 weeks to receive...which was now 5 weeks ago and still waiting....sigh.....).

I suspect none of the new line made under the new owner will be USA made. I suspect Redfield will once again be thrown down the shaft and quality will be third or forth rate. Just another once great name that's someone is squeezing the last few bucks out of.....sigh.....

Makes sense. Thanks for the response. I was excited when I saw them and then I got super disappointed when I saw where they were made. I was worried that Leupold was starting to produce scopes in China.

most of what Leupold made under the Redfield name was already made in China. In fact, only the Revolution line was made in the USA. Everything else....Peoples Republic of China.

That said...the stuff was all way above the normal made in China quality you see in most other brands.

Redfield is listed here at https://vistaoutdoor.com/brands/ But seems to be only Redfield scope mounts by Weaver?
I dont believe Leupold ever owned the rights for Redfield mounts. Just the optics...I believe...but I could be wrong. Something I read back when Leupold got a hold of Redfield is rattleing around in my head.

Makes sense..Luepy already made mounts.....so no need to buy those rights...
