That short front sight on the original was more than likely set up for 75 to 100 paces. The Shooters model has a much taller front sight that would, like the OP said, shoot POA at 25 yds.

Thanks for sharing your new 1858. She sure is pretty. For a minute there I was actually thinking of getting one, but $900 is a lot of money to me right now.

Sure its pretty but I like his other Remmy better. More character.
