I have the opposite question. I was looking for a Hawkeye compact when i saw the Gunsite. The gunsite model was $100 more than the compact medel I wanted anyway and already had iron sights, so the money made sense to me for the gunsite just on that basis. THe gun should arrive soon (he wouldn't sell me the display model), but I will probably prefer to carry the rifle without all that unecessary weight and protruding magazine. I would like to be able to just screw in the regular magazine box, spring, follower, trigger guard, and floorplate so that I end up with a more streamlined and (for my needs) functional truck gun. I'll try it like it comes, but I want to know what my options are. It looks like Brownells has all of the stock parts for the regular compact models, but will they fit the stock on the gunsite model?
