I looked at a Smith 620 today at my local gun shop/range and noticed some powder burn/residue around the breech end of the barrel. Is this normal in a new S&W? Does this come from firing a test round at the factory?
Smith & Wesson test fires every other charge hole on six shot revolvers. I have heard that the first gun of a test batch gets all charge holes tested, but don't quote me on this...
Ruger test fires a shot thru to. Every new one I bought had a little powder residue left from that one .38 they fire out of the .357 to "test fire" it. It should be fine.
I bought a nickel Mod 27-2 that had only had every other chamber fired. The revolver was sold as LNIB and it was. I promptly took it to the range and test fired all 6 chambers, once. What a sweet gun.
