Anyone got one of the new underlugless L-frame .357 seven-shooters? The fixed-sighted 619 and adjustable 620 appear to be S&W's new entries in the "all-'round utility revolver" category.

I handled one 620 on the store shelves. It was well-fitted, though the DA trigger was kind of disappointing. "Hitchy," not a clean smooth pull like my 629.

I hope that was a fluke. The fixed-sighted 619, in particular, has potential. It could make a good serious-carry gun loaded with seven rounds of Remington 125 gr Golden Sabers. It has the same compact, yet backstrap-covering rubber grip that the current production Model 10 wears. This is a really nice grip. Feels secure and natural. I distinctly prefer it to the more traditional open-backstrap rubber grip design on the 620.

So -- anyone got one? Shot one? Pics would be great.

I have a 620 that is fast becoming my favorite handgun. There was a problem with the front sight when I purchased it but S&W took care of the problem admirably. While the gun was at Smith's, I had the do their Master Revolver job on it, and now the trigger is just unreal. Though a little "hitchy" on DA, this isn't a problem for me.

I'd buy it again in a minute.

The 619 and the 620...

were a response to the problems encountered in the Models 19 and 66. The "K" frame had problems with extensive shooting of "full-house" magnum loads. The "L" frame on which the new 619 is based, should have no such problems. The triggers are another matter entirely.
