I just got my Leupold Mark 4 3.5-10x40mm LR/T M1. I Ordered the first focal plane but as i go through 3.5-10 I see no change in reticle size is there any other way i can tell if its FFP or SFP?
Thanks.
It's the Mil dot reticle. I just can't figure out exactly if it's FFP or SFP when I ordered I emphasized on the fact that I wanted a FFP not a SFP but the reticle doesn't seem to change sizes when i go through the powers so Im not sure and no where on the box says if its FFP or SFP.
If the size of your mildots does not change when you increase or decrease power, then your reticle is in the 2nd focal plane and you need to do your ranging at a specific power setting according to the manufacturers specs.

Then you don't have a FFP scope and there's nothing to check! I have a Leupold Mark 4 3.5 - 10X FFP and the reticle is small at 3.5x and a lot bigger at 10x. I hope you didn't pay extra for it.
chriso,
My scope has the TMR reticle and the WHOLE reticle increases in size when the magnification is increased from 3.5x to 10x. When you look through the scope at 3.5x do you see a small cross in the center of the view? When you increase the magnification to 10x does the cross get significantly larger to the point that it fills the field of view? If the answer is yes then you have a FFP version. If the reticle fills the field of view at 3.5x then you have a SFP version ... I have three Mark 4 scopes of that type so I'm familiar with the differences.
By the way, the box the scope came in should have FFP marked on it.
Just took it back to the shop i have to get the FFP version the reticle did not increase it took awhile to make sure and the box was not marked with FFP thanks guys.
