Been a long day folks. PLease forgive spelling and typing.

Hanna Kathleen was born at 8:40am. She weighed 4lbs and 15oz, the exact same weight as her big brother, and is 17 1/2" long. SHe has had some diffuculties breathing and has been in NICU all day. The docs say that she has fluid in her lungs. They say that this is very common in babies born through c-section and with low gestational weight. The babies usually work it out themselves. It can take anywhere from 24 - 72 hours. It's different for each kid and there are no norms.

On the plus side. Her oxygenation is good and she has not needed oxygen. Her BP and heart are strong. SHe has all digits right where they ought to be. There is no infections in the lungs. This kid has been stuck with all kinds and sizes of needles, poked and prodded in almost every locatin, had a chest x-ray, an IV in her little head, and she has come through it all like a little trooper. Most important She is alive, healthy, receiving terrific care, and she is BEAUTIFUL!!!

I have a feeling tomorrow will bring good things. Today brought the best thing, my daughter.

She will melt your heart. We had two girls, so I know! Heartiest congratulations. Have you bought her her first firearm yet? Maybe a trainer pistol? :D

Congratulations. there is nothing like a daughter. mine is 14 and a half years and can still melt my heart with a "I love you dad". that is usually followed by some totally unreasonable request on my time or money LOL

Almost makes me want one of my own. And a C-section to boot. She didn't even have to go through natures pla-dough factory of life. My partner had the same breathing issues as a newbie and he was c-section also.

much congrats!
some ideas: my first daughter got a colt 1911 when she was born, and her 5th birthday netted her an ar-15. for her 7th b-day (this year), she'll get a customized rem 700 lvsf in 7-08.

my second daughter got a sig p-229 when she was born, and when she turns 5, she will also get an ar-15. when she gets to 7, she'll get a custom mauser (just waiting on the 'smith to get done w/ it now).

very likely we'll have a 3rd on the way soon. been gun shopping for it, and am leaning toward a glock 22, and of course, an ar-15... time will tell for that one. as for the 7th b-day, dunno... hard to pick a good hunting rifle when there is no way (yet) to get an idea of personality or size... but, it will be a good 'un, i'm sure.

UPDATE

Thanks to everyone for you well wishes and prayers. Today has been very good and all those prayers must have reached out to our little Hanna because she is now, as of 8:00pm, in our room being held by her mother and grandparents. There are no more tubes, wires, or needles stuck on or in her. Her breathing is clear and normal. We are all overjoyed.

THANK YOU ALL!

dws- as someone who went thru that stuff w/ my own kid, i know how happy you must be to have all home safe and sound. enjoy this time, because it goes so fast. get a decent digicam, get tons of pics, and take a break every now and then and get some quality relaxation time in.

best of luck!

msgt- ahhh, well, if you can run an rcbs rockchucker pretty good, i can probably pitch a decent argument to my wife on your behalf!
