I traded my wife my older Sig 232 blued 380 for her Colt Delta Elite 10mm. I know it sounds wierd trading guns with the wife but she's a gun nut like me. She knew I was getting a deal also but all our guns are in the family.

Anyway, I missed my Sig 232 so much I just bought another one on Gunbroker. I received the piece and the finish is sub par not a shinny blue and the roll marks are single scribed and cheap looking. The mechanics of the gun are correct but the finish and markings are much cheaper. The slide serrations to pull the slide back are now verticle instead of slanted. The blue on the slide is now rough.

What has happended at Sig?

Thanks

Sig isn't what they used to be. Around 2000 the company was sold. Since 2005 they have doubled their production.

from the vertical lines I bet you have a US/German made model...the reviews I had heard put many preferring this version over previous all German models...you may have a Nitron'd stainless slide instead of the previous carbon steel slide...

It's also my understanding that the P232 is one of the only handguns that is still made in Germany as opposed to the the US, I wasn't aware there was a US/German made one.

I'm also not a fan of the vertical slide serrations on the new models, I'm glad mine is an older model with the slanted serrations.

Thanks everyone!

The frame is marked made in Germany. The slide has the importer Exeter NH but no origin of manufaturer. Mine does have night sites so they do remove.

I have a 2009 stainless P232 (with the vertical cutouts) and while the frame is stamped made in Germany, the slide is made in Exeter. The quality is excellent though on mine - great fit and finish.

And with the production move of the slides to Exeter, all P232s also have stainless slides (either in the white, or nitron coated). I think these may have been the last of SIGs models to switch over to all stainless slides.

OK I see now. The slides are made in Exeter. I thought that was the importer. Mine is also very tight and appears as well made as the older one just not as detailed on the roll marks.

Does the Nitron give it better corrosion prevention?

Sig calls the finish blued on my model.
