Good afternoon and Merry Christmas!
Just wanted to share a couple of photos of my new Colt 1911. This is the stainless Competition Model in .38 Super.
Allow me to say that I really like this pistol! It shoots great. After years of shooting mostly polymer 9mms and K/L-frame S&W revolvers, I forgot how well a good 1911 handles. The .38 Super cartridge is just potent enough so you know you've sent rounds downrange, but the weight of the 1911 keeps recoil down very well. The crisp trigger action makes it easy to put the bullets where the sights are pointed. Honestly it seemed like anything the size
I shot 2 boxes of Fiocchi 129gr FMJ and a box of SIG Elite 125gr through it today. No feeding, firing, extraction or ejection issues. I did have a couple of failures to lock back when empty on one 10-rd Checkmate magazine, but the 2 9-round Colt mags and a second 10-rd Checkmate magazine worked perfectly. I have a pair of Metalform 9-round magazines on the way I should be able to try next weekend.
And of course pictures are obligatory!
