I never did like the finish on my S40. It is one of my favorite guns to shoot, but it just didn't seem very visually appealing. One of the other members here on THR mentioned he had his M40 refinished by Mac over at Shootin Iron. From what everyone has said Mac does excellent work for a great price.
I have been trying to decide what color to go with. I emailed Mac and he said they were testing a new Matte Silver finish that would be available in the middle of April. On the 13th I heard from him that he was ready to start finishing guns with the new color. I shipped my S40 slide out on the 14th and received it back on the 24th!!

A 10-day turnaround is unbelievable fast. I was so excited to get the package open I was fumbling around in .the kitchen looking for a knife. Once I had the package open I was
Dumfounded. I couldn't believe simply refinishing a gun would change the look so completely. I am super happy with Mac's work and plan to send him several other guns in the future, I just have to decide what color to go with. It cost me $44 for the refinish and $3.85 for the shipping, what a great deal!!

I am sorry that some of the pictures aren’t as focused as they should be. I need to get a better digital camera. I am going to go over to a buddy’s house and use his new Digital SLR sometime this week so keep your eyes peeled I might have some better pictures to share.

:what: Boy that looks sharp!

Have you shot it yet?

I noticed the finish was applied to the extractor. IIRC someone else here sent an M40 to be hardchromed and it wouldn't extract properly afterward because the extractor had been hardchromed.

I'm anxious to get a range report and see if it functions alright.

That HC job sure does look sharp! :) Congrats on a fine finish. Let us know how she shoots after you get her to the range.

That's very nice, is it a baked on finish, or some kind of bead blasted chrome or something?

I might have to check this out.

I hate to say it but I am not 100% sure what the process is for applying the finish. My impression was that it is sprayed on instead of baked, but I could be wrong. I am hoping to make it to the range later today so I can check the functionality. It sure does look pretty. :D

Man that looks sweet. Where did you acquire you Steyr? That rhymes, how cheesy.

I bought this S40 from CDNN for $399. I ordered it about 18 months ago on a Mon and it was at my dealer on Wed!! CDNN is a great company to order from I highly recomend them. Their price on the S40 is at $329 right now IIRC.

One thing I forgot to mention was the lettering on the slide seems to stand out a lot more then it did when it was blue.

Hello All.............The silver finish is our new Satin Nickel plate. We also offer several colors in our Tuff-Gun 1 finish and a huge variety of colors in our Tuff-Gun 2 finish.... Just about any color you can imagine and some you would not want to think about on a pistol! Keep yer powder dry, Mac.

Very nice. I've always wondered what my M40 would look like with a satin nickel slide. Is the barrel redone with the same finish? Keep us posted on the function and wear. I'll try to remember this place if I need a refinish.

Welcome Mac, I was wondering if you would ever make it over here to The High Road.

Sorry my pics look so bad.

WELCOME
