I've had the itch for a kit gun flavor .22 for some time now. I held the S&W 317 in my hand countless times with the intent to take it home, but I just couldn't warm up to it. I then considered the Charter 2000 Pathfinder and various Taurus offerings. Here's what I ended up with.
Nobody local had a 2" model, so I ordered it sight unseen. I had three pleasant surprises that were contrary to Taurus's product info. It came with their new style cylinder release, it has a matte finish, and the barrel is not full lugged. (See http://www.taurususa.com/products/product-details.cfm?model=94SS2&category=Revolver)
I put over 300 rounds through it last night without a hitch. I averaged about 3" at 20yd, which is fine for my intended use. The DA pull is relatively heavy, but quite serviceable. It is very finely and evenly finished inside and out. I can see no tool marks. I may switch the grips for Uncle Mike's boot later on just because they are a bit more compact.
I'm very happy with it so far. Pop cans and rattlesnakes beware!
