Howdy,

I'm new to rifle reloading and powders. I bought Accurate 4350 becausw it was available and it was in the same burn rate territory as Alliant Reloader 17 and 19, which I could access data for at work. I also searched here and seemed like it was ok.

My initial plans are for target use only and am wondering what lead gr bullets are good for target - I'm sure I can go to MO bullets real quick and see what they have.

I need a case trimmer but have pretty much everything else, the fellow selling me the rifle has some Lee dies which I'm hoping I can use on my Dillon 550.

I have manuals to read up on everything.

What I'm hoping is you can give me some lead bullet pointers and recipe for 4350.

Thanks in advance.

AA 4350 is a pretty good choice worth a try. My experience with the 270 win has been try the 4350 powders and if that does not work try the 4831. H4831SC is a classic powder and its hard to go wrong with it. It was Mr. 270 Jack Oconnors favorite back in the day.

I had really good luck with VV N560. AA 5744 is way to fast. If you like AA POWDERS Mag Pro is good as well.

Good luck and shoot straight

Bob

Thanks, I did buy the 4350 after using the search function and I read one of your posts I believe about the powder.

Do folks use lead bullets for rifles?

I've never used lead bullets in my rifle but I have used several different powders. I started out with H4895 & IMR 4895. It didn't give the highest velocities but was very accurate. I've also used W760, IMR4831, RL22, IMR8208XBR, IMR7828, & H4831. And maybe some others that I can't think of at the moment. I would have to say they all gave satisfactory results. My experience has been that the 270 is not finicky at all. I guess that is what I like about it.

I just orderd some Winchester 130gr 230 PP in .270 from Powder Valley.

I had forgotten about velocity and lead bullets as this has not been an issue with my handgun loads.

Now a case trimmer and I hope I will be set.
