I found a S&W 1026 10mm auto in the used section at my local store, mechanically the pistol was in great shape, it had not been shot much and other than needing a good cleaning the internals looked almost new, the outside however was another story, it had allot holster wear and several scratches all over the slide and frame, no metal damage, just those light marks that you get with bead blasted finishes.
Well since the price was pretty low because of the way it looked and figuring with a little love and a nice bead blasting I could make it look pretty good, I decided to bring it home last night.
This morning I stripped the slide and frame down completely and re-bead blasted them, I then cleaned and lubed everything and put it back together, now there’s not a mark on it and other than a new set of grips it could almost pass for new.
The 1026’s are somewhat rare, they were only made for a few years and unlike most DA/SA S&W auto’s they have no manual safety, only a frame mounted de-cocker similar to Sig’s.
