My first bolt action! I am a complete rifle newbie and picked this up to hog hunt and to accompany my buddy to the rifle range.
This is what I have gathered about the rifle:
- .243 is a good dual purpose varmint/large game
- With a 1:9.25 twist, I should shoot 100gr out of it
The Nikon 4.5-14x40 Buckmaster was awesome. Very clear and just as good as my buddy's Nikon Monarch. Took us a whole box of ammo to sight it in (we were being optimistic by not sighting it at 25yrds and jumping to 100).
Just wanted to share!
PS. I forgot to tell every one, I got this thing for a STEAL! The buy included the rifle with the Boydt stock ($100 give or take), generic bipod, the Nikon Buckmaster ($270-$300 retail) with the butler creek flip up covers, sling and case....all for $250. The whole package was worth the scope alone!
