Hi guys,

My rifle shooting up until now has always been at a range of 100 yards or less and I have zero experience with scopes only with iron sights.

I got a Ruger 10/22 last year and I decided I wanted to put a scope on it. I got a Nikon Prostaff 4x32 Rimfire scope but I am not sure what rings I need to get to mount it. The scope numbers elude me- I know 4x32 is a 4 power fixed magnification with a 32mm objective but I cannot find out the diameter of the tube anywhere. Can anyone recommend a decent set of rings please?

Also, if something is designated a 'Rimfire' scope, does that generally mean it will not hold up on a larger caliber rifle?

The only time I have shop with a scope was to hunt an elk and I just went to the store and had them set me up with something. I ended up with a Leupold that I can tell is very well made, but these Nikons seem very nice too and I like the price.

You need 1" rings.

The scope base that comes with the Ruger uses Weaver type clamp-on rings.

I don't know what Nikon says about using that scope on a centerfire.
But I would expect it would hold up.

The reason it is a .22 scope is the parallax is set at 50 yards in keeping with closer range shooting generally done with .22's.

The centerfire scopes are set for 150 yards.
