New to the forum. Which AR-15?

I know that the cheapest (by that I mean most affordable) AR's out there would most likely be those done by Olympic Arms. Can't totally vouch for quality, though...

Get a Bushmaster or RRA. If it were my choice, I'd go with a RRA LAR-15 A4 midlength.

Doublestar shouldn't be discounted either. I read enough good about them that I decided to purchase one just yesterday.

I picked up a CAR-15 Hbar for 680 shipped and insured.... and from what I understand these are a notch above Olympics basic offerings

C-grunt hit the nail on the head. BCM is a great product, with all the boxes checked, so to speak. I suggest you go with a basic M4, nothing fancy. Obviously, this is your first AR and you won't know what you exactly you want until you've owned one for a while and you learn what you want to keep and what you want to change. That is how my AR evovled from a basic, simple A1 carbine to what it is now.

My AR when I knew nothing of ARs, a bone-stock Bushmaster:

My AR after deciding what suited my needs:
BCM 16" carbine upper
KAC M4 RAS
Trijicon TA01NSN ACOG
Geisselle SSA trigger
A.R.M.S. #40-L folding rear sight
Magpul MOE stock on BCM mil-spec buffer tube.

I'm looking to buy my first AR-15. I don't want to spend an insane amount of money (no more than $900 is i can help it) but I want a quality firearm that will work and be reliable. Mil-Spec would be nice but not necessarily mandatory. And IMO you can never have too many picatinny rails :D But you people know more than me, I'm sure so i'll sit back and listen. What's the best quality AR-15 for the money and what would you all recommend?? Thanks in advance!
I was surfing the forum looking for AR 15 info since I just got my first one (My wife got it for me) for Christmas and found you post. I just got a DPMS that I absolutly love. She picked up used for around $750. Below are a couple of pics including all of the accessories that it came with. Hope this helps

I'm going to suggest an M4 may not be at all what the OP would need as a best option. We have no clue what he plans to use it for.

I understand mounting a bipod may have been for photographic purposes. Nonetheless, it typifies exactly what I've been trying to point out. It doesn't belong for 85% of how the M4 is used. A short barreled weapon with adjustable stock means wearing armored vests and urban entry team use. Adding a bipod would be just as productive as the 4x12 scope that should be already zeroed on it. It's more than out of place, it's wrong.

Had that been a 20" rifle with scope, no foul. Weapons are built to a purpose, start with the task to be accomplished and work down the list. Don't jump ahead and it will sort out for the better.

I was just using the bi-pod to sight it in. After shooting it for the first time I do have to agree it dosen't belong on a short barrel rifle.

Nice scope. How is the view and how far out can you go. I am looking for something that I can get a good view at 100 yards.
